About Mike's Dive Store:

Mike’s London Dive Store may have been established for more than thirty years but its history goes back much further than that. It’s founder, big Mike Calder, was the super-salesman at a dive store in Fulham Palace Road in West London. A local lad who was larger in life than in so many ways, he was so successful at serving divers with the equipment that suited their needs best that people beat a path to his door from all over the country.

Mike was a diver and he believed that if his customers were satisfied they’d return. He took the long view. He was eventually so successful that other dive shop owners even protested he was distorting the market.

It was inevitable that he would set up in business for himself and with the help of a local friend started selling dive equipment from a warehouse at Richmond’s waterside. Eventually he moved the business to the more accessible premises it is in today.

Mike was a giant of the UK’s diving industry in many more ways than one and all who knew him were shocked when he was suddenly taken from us long before his time, in 2009.

Still in his early teens, Scuba Steve started diving in the Sinai in 1989, in the days when Red Sea liveaboard operations were truly pioneering. He accompanied skipper Jan Ellingsen on Colona IV on a 1200 nautical mile trip down to the Sudan and learned to dive on the way. A few exciting encounters with grey reef sharks and he was hooked.

He worked alongside Mike and purchased Mike’s Dive Store when it became available. Mike’s son chose to sell to Steve because he could see that Steve had the same passion as his dad for scuba diving and was confident that he would carry on the tradition of good service and advice from a position of a wealth of knowledge very much as his dad had done.

Mike’s Dive Store is not about shifting boxes of product but having the patience to understand the particular needs and wishes of every one of its individual customers. That’s you!

There are very many aspects to the underwater world and Steve has seen most of them. He instils in his staff this philosophy to only sell the right tools for the job and many of the currently regular customers will tell you that it was Mike sold them their first set of diving equipment. Mike may have passed away but Mike’s Dive Store is alive and well, and Scuba Steve is carrying on the traditions that Mike established for it.

Was not supportive in getting Shahlsac to honour a lifetime gaurantee

Very misleading. Snappers implies plural, and also the picture shows two. But for £24 I only received one. Possibly my mistake but as I said, it felt like false advertising.

Normally I’d be giving Mike’s Dive Store a 5* rating but on this occasion I’m disappointed. Having given my Suunto D9 to Mike’s who sent it off for possible repair to Suunto, they subsequently sent it back with zero communication as to the nature of the fault still not fixed. Even if unrepairable it would have been courtesy to prove some basic feedback.

Had to chase my order after I hadn’t heard anything from them for over a week and when my items turned up they had “freebie” stickers stuck on them and I had paid over £20 each for my items (and you can get them cheaper elsewhere)

My wife brought me a pair of Fins for Christmas. Before wrapping last night she said do you want to try them on before wrapping. I gladly said yes, to my horror they did not fit. Tried to return today for next size up, only to be told no as its outside the 60 day return window. As a standing customer that has until now always thought highly of Mikes. Im now left with a bad taste in my mouth and fins that are of no use to me, Shame on you and shame on Jenna

I ordered, then realised that the items may not come with HP hose. So I asked you if it did. Was told no. So, I ordered them from another retailer who said they did. When the original ones arrived from you they did come with HP hoses. Too late to cancel the other order. You lost a sale and we both had hassle.

I recently ordered (22/11/23) a replacement regulator HIGH PRESSURE HOSE I was sent twice a low pressure hose which I promptly returned both times. At 14.44 on 05/12/2023 I am still waiting for the correctly ordered HP hose. I have dealings with MDS stretching back to the days of Mike Corder, so I am not impressed.

I went in with a healthy budget and clear requirements. Unfortunately, due to the two young staff members inability to actually listen well and grasp my requirements, I left highly disappointed. Receiving multiple sales emails afterwards did not assist.

Delivery took 2 weeks. I was asked to wait for 7 days, after which I contacted Mike's dive store and then they finally agreed to investigate with Royal Mail. It was delivered the next day, and I wish Mike's dive store had done so earlier. I left on holiday without a wetsuit and ended up renting one for the next 3 weeks. It's useless now, and I returned it.

A nice little dive ship in every way and form. Stock is limited to the essentials without any product depth which means limited options and what is available has little size variety. At best it is useful to check your size before making an internet purchase. For international customers, it is better to order online as you will not get the VAT back when buying in the shop.

Bought a Scubapro galileo hud. Sadly, I have received an item with a dead battery. Returned it immediately but haven't heard about a replacement or a refund in two weeks.

Hi Ekrem, Hope you are well and sorry for the delay in getting back to you - we were waiting on a definitive answer from Scubapro about your unit before we got back to you and this took some time, apologies. Normally we would've just replaced the unit ourselves but unfortunately in this case we did not have any stock of that model. One of the Customer service team will be in touch to offer you an upgrade at our cost price of the newer unit so we can get you sorted as the unit you have returned may take some time. Apologies again for the lack of communication and delay in resolving the issue.
I returned a rash vest because it was too small, followed the instructions to the letter, got confirmation that the return had arrived at their return depot, and 19 days later I still havent got a refund, despite chasing up a week ago and being promised that it would be processed. Not good enough.

This wasn’t the best service. The cressi regs are more expensive to service than the advertised price. They were serviced off site and leaked . Not great when you discover this on your liveaboard. I had my aqualung regs serviced at the same time and they were fine. Great service and no issue .
