“I was a little skeptical, but went ahead and ordered for a March 27th hatch. The types that I ordered were 4 Ancona's, 3 Salmon Favorelles, and one Dorking Bantam. I hadn't heard anything after the hatch date so I contacted customer service. She was amazing! I wish I could remember her name. She helped me find out where they were at in the shipping process. The Post Office called me on the 29th at 6 a.m. I went and picked them up. They were all alive and healthy. I had also got them vaccinated before they shipped. I do wish that I would have included the electrolytes and vitamins that were optional, I did lose the dorking bantam, and one of the Salmon Favorelles, but as a new chicken owner I had a hard time the first couple of days keeping the temperature regulated, so it was my fault. I figured it out and the other six are doing amazing. I would reccomend My Pet Chicken, and I would definately order from them again, easy and a great expereince, worth the cost of shipping.”

“Great customer service. We love our sweet chicks. We did have one pass away but with proper notification within their 48 hour period they didn't hesitate to rectify it with credit for another one at a later date. Looking forward to ordering more soon.”

“The experience with replacing the heater was great. I had a bad experience ordering chicks. Wish they would have warned me of potential phone calls or that they would have there number listed so I didn't think it was spam. Trouble filling order or not being able to ship should trigger an auto response and refund. At least a credit. I was trying to coordinate a second order but got no response. Then after waiting placed my 2nd order out of pocket. The next day was informed there was a shortage for one of my breeds. Rather than wait weeks to be told that you couldn't ship my order again I just canceled. Eventually was given a refund but had to pay interest on the first order for over a month with nothing to show for it. I would absolutely discourage anyone from using your service. I know under normal circumstances it would have been different but that doesn't help me who could have ordered locally back in February and might have got a flock this year”

At My Pet Chicken, we do everything we can to work with our customers when an order cannot ship as expected. Coordinating live animal shipments is complex, and when unexpected shortages or delays happen, we work behind the scenes to find alternate ship dates or solutions—not to ignore or inconvenience anyone. This can take time, and we understand it can be frustrating to wait when plans are up in the air. When customers allow us to continue working on their order, it receives priority treatment during the week it’s rescheduled. In your case, it’s unfortunate we weren’t able to finalize the details before you needed to cancel. We also regret any confusion caused by our phone outreach— caller ID due has technical limitations outside of our control, but we’re working on better ways to improve communication and reduce the risk of messages being missed or marked as spam. We genuinely appreciate your business and your honesty. Your experience matters to us, and we’re committed to improving so future customers—and hopefully, you—have a smoother experience.

“I ordered 2 snaplock coops and they arrived with ALL HARDWARE COMPLETELY RUSTED. I left a review and the company response was that someone would reach out...big surprise no one ever did!! I spent nearly 1500 to get rusted used coops. I'm replacing all the hardware since that is cheaper than returning these. I will NEVER shop here again.”

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience, and we completely understand how disappointing it must have been to receive your coops with rusted hardware. Your chickens’ home should be something you feel great about, and we regret that this wasn’t the case for you. We’d like to clarify that we first learned of your issue through your BBB review on March 25, 2025. We responded publicly that same day and also reached out to you via email with an offer to make things right. We didn’t hear back until after your reviews were posted here on March 27, but as promised, we were ready and eager to help. After looking into the situation, we discovered that some of the galvanized hardware components in this particular batch of coops had developed cosmetic corrosion over time. In response, we quickly updated the product listing to be transparent with customers. It now notes that this version of the Snap Lock Large Chicken Coop by Formex is being offered at a discount due to minor imperfections in the hardware, including some visible rust. These cosmetic issues do not affect the coop’s structure or functionality. We also proactively reached out to other customers who may have received coops from the same batch, offering support and resolutions as needed. Your feedback helped us take quick action, and for that, we’re truly grateful. As you requested, we’re shipping replacement hardware for your coops today. We value you as a customer, and if you’re ever willing to give us another chance, we’d love the opportunity to show you that this is not a typical experience with our small, family-owned business.

“My Pet Chicken is my go-to place for all things chicken. I ordered chicks from MPC, and they arrived healthy and chirping up a storm. Today is day three, and they are all doing well. Prior to receiving the girls, MPC emailed me valuable, need-to-know information for raising pet chicks, brooder info, etc. This is my go-to place for all my chicken needs. Communication has been great., and I was able to use live chat to answer my questions.”

“We ordered 20 chicks. They were all alive when we receive them the first night. They were eight dead. We have 12 remaining. I assume it’s just from the hard trip. I don’t think it’s anything that had to do with the company.”
