“The shipment's arrival took an eternity. Initially, we were informed that the $1,100 shipping fee covered the delivery of cafeteria tables inside the building. However, upon arrival, the delivery team refused to provide that service, stating it required an additional $75 payment, despite our initial payment of $1,100. Their service fell short and left much to be desired.”
“My school's take on School Outlet unfortunately is not a great one. We ordered chairs in September and were never notified until we started reaching out that there would be a delay in shipping. Every time there was a new onboarding date it would get pushed another two or three weeks. Due to this the shipment date was delayed over two months. At this point, we had started to request a refund due to us needing the chairs and not receiving them on time. The response we received was if we requested a refund we would have to pay a 25% cancellation fee to be able to have it completed due to the company not being prompt on their end. Luckily after that, the chairs were delivered. Due to all of these circumstances, we will not be continuing our business with this company.”
“I placed my order in September hoping to receive the cabinet for the holiday season. I was warned by the website that it might take a long time, however when I placed the order I was told 3 weeks. Then I was told that the product was back-ordered, so November 3. OK, not great, but ok. On October 6, it arrived with no warning. I was out of town and because it was not expected for a month I had left no plans to accept the delivery. SCHOOL OUTLET IS NOT AT FAULT, THEY HAD PUT INSTRUCTIONS FOR AN ADVANCE CALL ON THE TICKET -- THE MANUFACTURER AND DELIVERY COMPANY JUST IGNORED THEM. So, one small guy tried to unload this enormous piece of furniture (in the wrong parking lot, near the wrong door, etc., etc.) and succeeded in dropping and breaking the cabinet. I was reached by phone and refused to accept it. They (finally, after arguing) took it away. I talked to John Rey at School Outlet and he was as surprised as I was that it showed up, got with the manufacturer and after many delays the piece arrived on November 20. AGAIN WITHOUT LETTING US KNOW IT WAS COMING. AGAIN WITH ONLY ONE GUY TO UNLOAD. Luckily, we were able to find some help and get the product inside, through the right door. It was assembled and seems to be fine.
SO -- it did not seem to be the fault of School Outlet, but their manufacturer's shipping department needs some SERIOUS work. I came within an inch of just cancelling it altogether. Without John Rey's encouraging professionalism, I would have. John would have gotten 5 stars, the product 5 stars, the experience 0 stars. The 3 stars is a compromise”
“I'd always rather support companies that aren't Amazon. It's nice to find one hear that has the same price as Amazon and faster shipping than Amazon, so I don't have to give anything up to support a small business.”
“Customer service was ok. Was dissatisfied a bit with the long wait time of delivery of the items purchased. Many delays and the communication of the delivery status was poor . Reactive rather than proactive”
“There were several aspects of this purchase that were not acceptable.
1. The orders keep getting listed under Dan Dyer – he did not purchase the cabinets. This is regarding orders 89270 89270 and quote #8JMSR-0.
2. I asked several times for the tracking numbers and by the time we received the info, one of the orders had already been delivered and we were not notified.
3. The quality of the cabinets delivered to Boise was poor. One had to be glued together and the back was not on securely. The cabinet doors were not level.
4. One of the cabinets delivered to Moscow is a little crooked and the rod for the door handle is slightly bent.
This is not the type of quality we have received from previous orders.”
“The boards are nice and decently priced. We've had damaged shipping issues with almost every other order we've received this year. It's then been a headache not only with the freight company but with School Outlet to get things replaced.”
