Two of the three recommended were local, not sure about the other one. Only selected to obtain a quote from Mondeaux, who were very competitive, but appeared to be offering older style components. Have acccepted quote for Sunbuilt, also local company, were not the cheapest offer, but seemed to offer better value for money, while still having a large enough business locally based for backup and longevity.

Hi Jo, Thanks for chatting with me earlier — I really appreciate the feedback. I’ll be following up with the other 2 companies we referred to make sure they’re reaching out to potential customers more promptly. As you mentioned, you’d already received quotes elsewhere by the time they got in touch, so it was a missed opportunity on their part. Glad to hear you went with Sunbuilt as they are another great company we recommend : ) Your feedback really helps us improve. If you ever need anything or have more thoughts to share, don’t hesitate to reach out — I’m always happy to help: ned@solarquotes.com.au

Solar notes prompt in providing contacts. Extra name given and quote from original who had problem making contact. Now have 4 prices. However contractors not so good. 2 have only given verbal quotes. Because of the significant variation in size location of panels and price I sent questions to try to clarify. None responded. The industry seems to expect that you will just take them at there word.

Hi Will, Thanks for taking my call and it was great to hear all companies ended up quoting you. It did sound like a bit of a technical install so if you have any questions about the quotes - let me know at ned@solarquotes.com.au and I can take a look and advise where I can. Thanks again for the review, Ned.

We needed to be quoted regarding an inverter, which ceased functioning, as evidenced by the quarterly electricity accounts. The iverter was old (soalr panels & inverter installed in June 2012), so inverter lasted for a now banned product. All quotes were for a full replacement system, with no assessment made as to the efficacy of the solar panels, allegedly German made, at installation. If the panels don't last long, how can solar be sustainable or indeed, environmentally sustainable, as the manufacturing process would utilise a considerable carbon footprint. Hence why we are assessing the advantages of having a solar versus regular changinf of electricity energy providers, utilising their incentives. At this stage, I am continuing to seek positive, honest feedback regarding the panel efficacy, which no provider has made available. Otherwise, if a full solar system is required, I would utilise SolarQuotes again.

Hi Mark, Thanks for letting us know about this and apologies for any inconvenience caused. I've left a message on your phone to clarify - but were you looking for the installers to give you a chat about how long a new system may last? If it helps we have a small quote here from SolarQuotes founder that may help: https://support.solarquotes.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/115000931214-How-long-will-my-solar-panels-last I'll also ask your matched installers to have a chat with you about this as I understand your concern. If you would rather get back to me via email you can reach me at ned@solarquotes.com.au Hope this helps, Ned.

Solar Quotes was very helpful getting me going in the right direction but out of the three quotes one didn't contact me and the third was double the price of all the others that I got and told some lies that I knew weren't true. I was able to look at reviews for other installers in the area on solar quotes and Google and got 2 other companies to quote. All had five star reviews. In the end I went with the one that did contact me first from solar quotes not because they Were the cheapest but could do it quite quickly and it spent a lot of time with me designing the system.

Hi Doug, Thank you very much for letting me know about this and for taking my phone call. I will be following up with that particular company to investigate why they dropped the ball and why the sales seemed to be over promising. I was glad to hear about your recent install - but I know you had some questions regarding it. I'd be happy to take a look - as I said send the photos through to ned@solarquotes.com.au and I will take a look : ) Thanks again for letting us know, Ned.

Hello Finn Peacock, I would like to respond to your question “was Solar Quotes helpful” Before I write about my experience, I want to say that I read with real interest your mails and articles about Solar, Batteries, Charger and so on. Helpful, Competent, Informative, really good. Thank you. On Feb 10, I received the mail that I could expect 3 quotations for the installation of an EV charger. Adapt Energy sent a quotation with several “ if and when”, because they were not familiar with the location; the final bill will be higher than the quotation. ReCon EV requested some photos which I provided. So far no quotation. Solar Dimension did not respond. Telephone is disconnected. The real disappointment is that you seem working against your principle : your advise is to “ buy and install with one company”, if there is a problem, there is only one partner. However, your recommended companies are not located in Townsville. They are also working with a contractor, but if there is a problem, according to reviews, it is then the problem of the After-sales management and the contractor . I will not go ahead with one of those recommended companies. The solution seems easy, one of your recommended Solar Installers in Townsville has a very good reputation, visited my location, and is happy to install a charger with a competitive price. Regards Axel

Hi Axel, Thank you very much for this review and for having a conversation with me over the phone about your experience. I understand what you are saying about contractors - we do allow this because we always have relationships with the original company that organised the installation. In the rare cases where something goes wrong - we ask them first and foremost to rectify the issue, it is normally done on my behalf to minimise any difficulty for the customer. If there were any reviews of particular contracted companies you were seeing please send them through to me at ned@solarquotes.com.au for me to take a look at. As I said in the phone call we really appreciate any feedback as it only helps us improve. If you have any more questions or feedback just shoot me an e-mail and I'll be happy to have a look : ) Thanks again, Ned. I have investigated the company who you advised did not pick up - the phone was connected and went through to their admin on my first call. I checked with the director who advised there hasn't been any downtime - I advised to keep an eye on it just in case. With the other company who did not provide a quote - I have ensured they will treat potential customers more seriously in the future.

Solar quotes is good for solar. Not that great for EV chargers. It’s just solar companies that quote for them. They aren’t really interested in thinking about electrical work. Kind of just want to do their standard installs. Which is fine for solar. I found it easier and cheaper to just get a local sparkie that has worked with EV chargers to quote and install.

Hi Bradley, Very sorry to hear about this. I would like to apologise if there were any issues with your quotes coming though - our EV charger quotes are relatively new compared to our solar installation quotes and I am very open to hear any feedback you have about them. Especially any feedback about specific installers that I may need to follow up. I have left a voicemail on your phone. Feel free to call me back to simply e-mail me at ned@solarquotes.com.au and I'll get back to you quickly. Ned.

I know you have to do things the way you do to make money, but as a customer it would be easier to just have a list of suppliers on a website. No-one provided a quote using the information I submitted, everyone just left me a voicemail asking me to phone them back to organise a quote. If I wanted to ring a bunch of suppliers and get quotes I would have just done that in the first place. Having to phone a whole heap of people was precisely what I was trying to avoid. Yes I have the names of three reputable suppliers I can contact for quotes when I have time to chase things up, and that will be helpful, but given no-one emailed me we any quotes or estimates using the provided information, why not just give me the names of three people in my area and let me follow it up myself since that’s what I now have to do. I’m sure this is a great service for some people but it felt a bit pointless to me.

'Hi Natasha, Thanks for leaving us feedback we always appreciate it - we actually do provide lists of installers - you can find one for your city here https://www.solarquotes.com.au/installers/cities/, we also do give our users the names/numbers of the companies they are matched with straight away if they would like to follow up themselves. But I will speak to the team and see if there is a better way we can communicate this. Regarding the quotes - we do expect the installers to contact you and have a chat before providing a quote as they always like to get the most information possible. Some installers will provide a quote via e-mail straight away but it is rarer and generally avoided as the cost will likely change if they don't have all the appropriate information. Again - this is something we might need to make more clear so this issues does not happen again. I'll also pass on your feedback to those particular installers so they can improve their service and communication Thanks again, Ned

Didn't receive the promised 3 quotes even after follow up. Only received 1 serious face to face quote, 1 online "fill in the blanks" quote, and 1 we'll get in touch quote. I'm not convinced Solar Quotes are all that much on the ball regarding following up promises.

Hi Graham, Apologies our installers could not service your location - please be on the lookout for my e-mail as I will be trying to find an installer to assist you, let me know how you go. I will also be following up with your matched installers asking them to improve their customer service as even though it is sounding like a difficult install (having to cross water to get to the property) they should of communicated better with you. Thanks for letting us know about this as it only helps us improve. Ned

It was a good way to get a response after the two previous companies I had chased down. But my house has "issues". There is no obvious place for a battery and inverter at the front of the Heritage Overlay Victoria terrace, despite an excellent long East West tin roof for plenty of panels. The first Solar Quotes response (Quote 3) came from a company offering to do the $20,000 to $30,000 job for $6,500 and it sounded ... er ... "too good to be true". I didn't need to read the fine print because the battery problem stopped it in its tracks. The other issue with the Quote 1 and Quote 4 (Solar Quotes 2) was agreement that the new rules meant my $8,000 9-panel 3.1Kw 2011 system was non-compliant and would have to go to land-fill or possible be recycled. Quote No 2 managed to run parallel systems. The blow-back against this from abotu one million responders means it is worth waiting until the privatized power companies learn how to send electrons to battery storage. Solar Quotes Number 3 never turned up despite sending marketing emails.

Hi David, Thanks for getting in touch with me via e-mail - as I discussed, I will try and find you a solar installer for your specific install and if you could please let me know which company provided a quote that is 'too good to be true' that would be very helpful for us to help improve our service and the service of the companies we recommend. Hi Anthony, Very sorry to hear about this - could you let me know (ned@solarquotes.com.au) who the installer was that didn't quote you? I will have a chat with them about their customer service and how they handle the potential customers we send them. Ned

Every one of them was different. Yes you can have a battery, no you need more panels and a battery , you need more panels but not a battery yet . So now I am totally confused and don’t trust any of them

Hi Steve, Thanks for using our service - I confirmed with the other installers you were matched with you were not looking at installing solar for the foreseeable future which is absolutely fine : ). I can see you rated us 3 out of 5 stars - if there is anything we can improve upon or any way our service disappointed you - please let me know with an e-mail to ned@solarquotes.com.au as I would be very keen to follow up. Thank you for your time over the phone today. Ned.

Nothing special about the quotes, thought there would be a more accurate result. One said there was no Tesla Rebate in Nov.

'Hi Michael, Apologies if there was any confusion here and thanks for taking my call. We don't actually know yet if Tesla will be on the list for the rebate - more info here: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/seven-batteries-qualify-nsw-battery-rebate/ However as soon as we find out if Tesla gets on the list - i'll let you know! Found an installer that fits my needs, did get three responses. One did not want to get on the roof to measure up, the second one did not want the job and like the three bears the last one was just right.

Good follow up from the proposed installers but their prices are 30 to 50% higher than other respected installers with fantastic reviews and referrals. The responses from the installers on my feedback was that this is the right price in the market now while it’s not. Prices for panels have come down a lot recently and the supply/demand or the market influences current prices.

Hi Richard, Apologies for any inconvenience regarding the prices you received. It has been an interesting year in the market and we are seeing prices change quite regularly. We do have an article here that may help in what to expect: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/panels/cost/ but if you have received quotes substantially higher than this - please feel free to send them to me at ned@solarquotes.com.au and I can check everything is above board + follow up with the installers if needed. Also if you would like any more quotes just sing out and I should be able to find another installer in your area Thanks for reaching out as always keen to look into things of this nature, Ned

Hi Carmel, Thanks for leaving us a review and apologies if there was any inconvenience using our service. As you let me know over the phone - you weren't sure if getting solar was going to be worth it for you based on it's complexities. I've got a good article here that may be of help: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/buying-solar-panels-2024/ And we also have a tool here in case you need to have a look at your electricity plan: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/energy/ And just one last tool in case you were wondering if you needed a battery: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/battery-storage/calculator/ Hoping this helps clear some things up - any questions just let me know at ned@solarquotes.com.au : ) Ned

Useful balanced advice on website. Quotes from variable quality installers - there should be an active way of ranking and filtering installers. I have just enough tech background to identify technical weaknesses in quotes but most folks don’t. This is an area where SolarQuotes could help.

Hi Russell, Thanks for leaving us a review and for your thoughts. We do have a ranking table here https://www.solarquotes.com.au/solar-installer-ratings.html that will rank installers based on the reviews they get from the public. Also if you were not aware you can filter the reviews a number of ways such as lowest rated, or by state if they cover multiple states. The reviews also collect information such as price. If you think there is something missing i'm always open to feedback, let me know your ideas by e-mailing me here and I may bring it to the team: ned@solarquotes.com.au If you need any help with the quotes that came through I can help with that too : ) Thanks again for your thoughts, Ned
