Finally the overpopulations of deer has made the headlines and I wish more people would discover and enjoy the benefits of venison - low cholesterol, low fat, high protein at a reasonable price. Culled deer should not go to waste!”
“I haven't yet had the meat received but the packaging and prompt delivery was excellent. However I was quite disappointed at the size of the birds. I have had partridge before and although one is usually enough for one person I feel in this instance two will be needed.”
Pleased that you thought the delivery and packaging were excellent. As mentioned in response to the product review, partridges don't vary much in size. The product description says they weigh approx 275g so if they weighed less, please let us know (an image of the product on a scale would be fine).
In the product review of the fillet steaks, you were disappointed by the size of the steaks and the leakage of some blood from the packaging.
The size of the steaks were described as 150g each, so if they were smaller than that please let us know. Apologies that some blood had leaked from the pack but it should not have affected the flavour.

“The meat and packaging is consistently excellent. I have never been disappointed. My only complaint is with the courier service. I understand that drivers are always in a hurry, but the DHL practice - seemingly only in relation to the Wild Meat Company - of just leaving boxes on doorsteps, a few feet from the street, not checking anybody is in, is a significant security worry where I live in inner city London, particularly given the often very expensive content of the Wild Meat Company boxes. I would be happy to pay a little more for delivery for the peace of mind of knowing that the driver will wait at the door until I take the parcel from them, like other couriers, rather than just leaving boxes at risk of being stolen by a passerby or, given the chilled content, warming unnecessarily because you are unaware it has arrived.”
“I recently ordered several packs of Woodpigeon Breasts and two Woodcock in feather. I have been using The Wild Meat Co for some years now and have always been delighted with the products, whether game birds or the whole carcass Muntjac I buy once a year. I always have the pigeon in my freezer as well. This time was no exception. All was beautifully fresh and in exceptional condition, arrived on the day requested, and nicely chilled. I have cooked some of the pigeon, and one of the Woodcock already and it was quite honestly superb. I have been eating game for more than half a century and know quality when I taste it. I am aware of the cautions issued by The Wild Meat Co regarding buying birds in feather, but these were magnificent, and I cooked one of them rare with a sauce made from the trail and internal organs - quite delicious. I have frozen the other one and look forward to having it later in the year. Woodcock was one of the game birds I had never tasted before, but I will definitely buy again. Thank you for your superb service and superb meat.”
