“The 5 star reviews are all paid for from India, take a look at the names and comments. This is a 1 star type of company, they will screw you over as hard as they can and will do nothing at all to help. I wouldn't do business with Barclay's bank in any situation. “Barclay Credit Card is committing FRAUD by accepting a payment to a closed account and not returning the dollar amount after 4 months. They initially acknowledged receiving the $$ in writing but after multiple phone calls, proof documents and electronic tracking number provided, they now are saying they are unable to locate the $$$. All calls being told "I am sorry...I will escalate this... you have to wait 2-3 billing cycles...someone closed the case..." Still no resolution- Would not recommend getting any credit card with this company.”
“Everything. There were fraudulent charges on my card, I reported it an was issued a new card and then was unable to jump through the hoops to reactivate it so I didn’t, . I then received more charges (on inactivated card] so I called and cancelled, and then , got another bill with a 100% late fee, to end the nightmare , I paid and just got a dunning email.
BTW, in all of this , of the 5 different people I talked to, all were arrogant and condescending.

“Utilizing our Barclay Carnival Credit card to obtain points for purchase of items during our delayed Anniversary Cruise. Well guess what? Currency there's absolutely NOTHING on the Barclay Carnival Mastercard portal for redeeming points for Carnival Exclusive items which previously included a wine and fruit basket and OTHER items.
EXTREMELY disappointing AND strange that NO ONE spoken with can explain this. Including the Barclay personal advising to expect a call back in 24 hours? Carnival personnel giving the FunShip number and they can't help either? Come on Carnival youcan/got to do better. Are you planning to use another credit card company for the Carnival branded credit card, dissolving your relationship with
Barclay? PLEASE just let me and the rest of your customers know the reality in this situation so that the BEST decision can be made individually/collectively! I've been loyal to Carnival for MANY years but its starting to feel like it's a one way relationship. Which EVERYONE knows is NOT substanable. Please let me know!”
“2 hours of my life I will never get back. I talked to 4 agents who never even bothered to communicate to one another so it was starting over every single time. I OVERPAID my gal credit card with synchrony right before they switched to Barclay. For whatever reason they charged a $4 fee once the conversion happened and Barclay charged interest and late fees. So an arbitrary $4 turned into $54… everything for waived in the end (i hope) I’m reading that customers have to keep calling even after being told it has been waived. Customers are being held liable because Gap switched from Syncrony to Barclay for all of their countless mistakes and our credits are on the line. This is complete and total fraud I will never shop at gap or obtain any credit with Barclay.”
“Barclay's is probably the worst and greediest banks you could find. Don't ever open a credit card with them. If you fly American Airlines warn people not to open an account, they push this horrible credit card during every takeoff.”
“Literally the worst customer service EVER! They are not helpful and will transfer you from dept to dept. And then if they can't or won't answer your questions after you've continued to call back they leave you on hold and act like they're speaking to someone about your issue then the call will drop. They also increased my APR, and the rep gave some reason like the "bank prime rates" went up. Total BS! Do not get this card. Total nightmare.”
“Just found out today I was charged over $100 in interest, even though I had paid off the prior statement balance before the due date. I spent over an hour and a half last month on the phone disputing a late charge because Barclay's didn't process my payment before the statement due date, even though I had paid the balance before the payment was due. That should have been a Red Flag warning to me. The customer rep could not even honestly address my inquiry today and beat around the bush for 15 minutes before I could get an admission from her re: this $100+ interest charge. Do NOT do business with this new Barclay Old Navy Card!! Good Riddance Barclay. Please do not make the mistake I did, I am out over $100. Wish I could not even give them 1 star !!!”
“AWFUL! DO NOT waste your time on a CC Company that won't back you up. I went to Cozumel and the restaurant over charged me (by $400) and because I was not given a receipt of the charge they will not reimburse me.”
“I paid off my Old Navy card before they switched to Barclay's. I then got a $17 for the interest left then proceeded to add two months of late fees bc I thought the card was paid off until I got a letter.
I called to get it fixed. The customer service said that all the fees would be waived. Sure enough next month I get a letter saying I still owed the $17 and another late charge. This time the customer service rep said they would fix the late charge but I still had to pay the $17. I did bc I didn't want a closed account on my credit report. I asked her if this was the last of it and I wouldn't be charged again, she said no. This month I get another bill for $1.80. I was so furious I closed my account and if any of my other cards go to Barclay's, I will transfer my balance immediately.
Barclay sucks!”
“Barclays took over Old Navy. My card was reissued WITHOUT an expiration date. I called and asked for another. The new one is the same. I do most of my shopping online and this has caused major issues.
Then I tried to pay the bill. I have my account number and the number on both of mlame cards. I have double checked my user name, email, and password. I absolutely CANNOT pay my bill online. I have to call each month and then have to endure condescending operators who treat me like I'm stupid because I cannot pay online. I work with computers every day for a living. Your site has major issues. My paper bill was inordinately long and I do not want to use checks because I am trying to help save the environment. Barclays has very poor busines practices.”
“Barclay's ruined my stellar credit over their mistake. I had never missed a payment. They did not draft my automatic payment, then reported derogatory activity to the credit bureaus. My score dropped from 750 to 670. They acknowledged that it was their mistake, and promised to take corrective action but did not follow through. Do not get this card, you will regret it”
“Absolutely awful. Always a problem, always has been, Customer service is a nightmare to get hold of. Always some automated rubbish that you have to listen to for ages before you even remotely begin to get somewhere. Its infuriating, especially when life is already stressful. No more speaking to actual living people anywhere anymore, it's making life a NIGHTMARE. Can't even go into a bank properly anymore. Will be closing this crappy account.”
“I have a Barclay American Airlines Aviator Card. Barclay Customer Service is HORRIBLE. No one knows anything and they'll transfer you from department to department and no one is interested in helping. Will be cancelling this card.”
“Been with barclay for over 7 years. I couldn’t make a payment for my monthly bill and some how the auto monthly payment didn’t go through. I had 15 dollars on the card and because there was a bug that turned off the auto pay a 15 dollar payment was missed. They reported me for being 30 days late and completely destroyed my credit in the middle of purchasing a house which I had to not purchase. Mind you I haven’t missed a payment on anything for over 20 years. Customer service was rude and treated me like trash! I made the 15 dollar payment and they ruined my family’s life! My son was born with a disability so we were buying a cheaper house because of all the medical bills and after 7 years of perfect payments a bug with there software ruined everything. BEWARE OF THIS CREDIT CARD COMPANY”

“HORRIBLE company!! I never write reviews but this is the worst experience I have had. I lost my card but need my card to get into my account. Will not send me another card because I do not have my OLD card number. Even though I verified my social security number, phone number, address and DOB. Instead they insisted I just pay my payment and I also needed to get on to my online account which they have been having technical difficulty for TWO WEEKS NOW. I was told it would be fixed within two days. No, its been two weeks and no one is able to get online.”
“Absolutely the worst service. My Banana Republic CC was sold to them and I have been trying for 3 months (numerous calls and many, many transfers to other people) just to try to set up my online account. I have not seen a bill in over 4 months. They can't get it done but are charging me late fees anyway. I have to call each month to pay my bill, without seeing the charges. It has had good benefits in the past but the headache of dealing with Barclays has made me consider cancelling all together.”
