“I took them up on a balance transfer offer. I then knew I would be going out of the country and unable to get my mail, check balances, make regular payments manually, so I set up auto-pay for $100 over the minimum payment due.
I then return a few months later to find my minimum payment went from approx. $225 a month to over $500 per month. I also got calls from people on voice mail that I couldn't understand. They apparently outsource their customer service to people who can barely speak English.
I wish I had never heard of this card and plan to take a small loan to pay off the balance and then never, ever touch it again as long as I live. A horrible company, a horrible card.”

I am in the process of contacting financial services authority to ask that Barclaycard lose their licence to trade in financial products in the UK. Their customer service is absolutely dreadful.

“stupid bank sent me to collection when I made my payment and the balance is 0.00 still they sent me to collection and I have 5 months trying to fix this situation and employees so !@#$$% do not know what they say nor are they qualified for customer service client, you speak and you can hear chickens, cows and sheep like they are on a farm that is if you count the employees !@#$% with a middle eastern accent they are not understood at all this bank ruined my credit
but I will report them to the consumer financial protection bureau I have spoken with supervisors I have sent copies from my bank where it says that they have already been paid even a check they sent me when I closed the stupid account they have given me case numbers to follow up on the problem another day! !#$^&&$ employees do not find these cases

“The worst experience! They call it a glitch, they have an error on my account since August 28. Talked to 15 people at least. Promising correction but as of Oct 18th, not done.
I reported them to several agencies in the US and will follow government complaints in England. THEY NEED AN AUDIT. TRYING TO OVERCHARGE ME.”
“I have never experienced a credit card company as bad as BARCLAYS. After 3 hours of trying to explain my card was denied and that I don't have a balance. I always try and pay in full. They don't know why it was denied. They don't show any problem with my card. Then I am transferred to someone else who tells me it has been deactivated, but without any reason. After the third transfer to another unhelpful person, I am told in 7 to 10 days I will get a new credit card but I have to apply again. I have been using this card for 8 years and now it is deactivated for no reason. I am canceling the card. There are other credit card companies with travel mileage. SO FRUSTRATING!! Thank God I had my American Express to catch my flight back home. Worst customer service EVER!!”
“I should have read these reviews before getting a Barclays CC. Every month I pay my statement total. Been doing it for years. This past month I paid as usual, Barclays requested a duplicate payment from my bank…their error…my bank put a stop payment on the second request…Barclays realized they made a mistake and returned the original payment…to make a long story short I’m still dealing with this issues three weeks later. Barclays put a hold on my account, which means I can’t use my credit card, when this was all their fault! I paid the card on time and in full! Oh and this happened on all three Barclays cards JetBlue, Gap and Athleta. What in the world! Do better Barclays. I’m seriously considering closing all three cards!”
“In general this is the worst customer service of any credit card I have. Always side with the merchant no matter how much evidence you present of their dishonesty, website always down, can't file an online dispute until two weeks after a transaction has posted, can't call in a dispute because of "system upgrades" at 1:30 in the afternoon. Planning on closing this card ASAP.”
“For nearly the entire year of 2022 Barclays card website has not let me log in , i am continually locked out of my account. The past 3 months I have not been able to reset my password, the tech "help" person says tha'ts what I have to do. Then they either mute or are just putting me on hold and not coming back to speak to me because the line is silent and I have waited for them to respond or come back.
I like to see what charges are on my account if any and what they are charging on my account and why and I cannot.

“I have had a Barclays Mastercard for many years and have spent $10’s of thousands of dollars on it and I was always- always a good paying client .
I have never made a dispute once about a payment until recently
I dealt with a very dishonest , manipulative website company to help me with a website for an e-commerce business I was opening.
Long story short , the web company was very dishonest with me and forcefully persuaded me into buying in unnecessary add ons.
I was well within the time frame to ask for a return as the warranty clearly reads before website is finished I can get full refund. My website was never completed !
Well the web company keeps lying to Barclays and as much I have communicated and show evidence, Barclaycard sides with the web company.
I will be closing my Barclays credit card soon as they do not have the best interest of their credit card holder.
It’s very sad that a company a Barclays can’t see through the dishonest side that lied and manipulated me and I explained this to Barclays.
I also filed a separate complaint with AMX for a different refund and they are excellent customer service to their card members and stand behind their card members.”
“I have contacted customer service 4 times in regard to not being able to access my card info on-line due to not receiving a text or email with the secure code to verify it is me. I still am not able to receive the secure code! They claimed to have solved my problem saying I said I did not want text or email communication even though I initially requested paperless billing! They assured me the last time they had fixed this and I would receive an email with a confirmation code in a few hours. It is the next day & I still do not have an email and am still unable to access my statements!! Going to pay this off and close the acct. it has been nothing but a headache just to pay my bill!!”

“I had an account with Old Navy (Synchrony Bank). Old Navy moved to Barclay. I was unaware my auto pay wouldn't transfer over so I have late payments now. I Never Have Late Payments!!! Now I have an alert on my credit and Barclay says I need to call the Credit Bureau and fix it myself. No customer service and understanding these people isn't easy. I will pay this account and close it. Don't use them!!!”
“I have a barclaycard us arrival plus card, which is a discontinued card. No one can make the mistake of getting this card anymore which is good. It is supposed to be a travel card which allows you to redeem travel for 10,000 miles = $100. The problem? Their system is intentionally designed to not recognize travel as travel. Your only option to actually use your miles is a statement credit which you can only redeem at half the rate, or 20,000 = $100. This isn’t an accident or their rewards team would re-categorize miscorrectly labeled travel as travel to let you redeem. They refuse to relabel anything though and they also do not let you redeem miles to purchase travel as most travel cards do. Stay away from this dishonest company”
“My mom’s AARP card was purchased by Barclays after my mother died and before a refund from Airbnb was processed. Barclays is determined to keep that refund of $7500 and ignore the death certificate and trust with trustee paperwork. We’ve been in communication with them since June, when the credit/refund was applied. Our paperwork has enabled us to receive and distribute funds without issue from banks, ML, Nuveen and the sale of her home. They lie, they make up stuff, they are rude and misinformed and yet they hold onto money meant for her beneficiaries/children. Where is the legal system, upper management, anyone that recognizes that Barclays is playing by a different set of rules than fair and proper. Beware!! It’s a scary financial world with Barclays in it. My mom had her AARP credit card since 1990; never a problem!”

I’m emailing this letter in regards to asking for the transaction for HP Product SVC RPR for 49.99 to be reopened. I allowed my mother to pay for a service to help her get unlocked out of her computer and this company claimed they could and took my card information only to not to do be able to get in the computer but she had already given them my card number they had assured her they would not charge my card since they could not help so I reported it as fraud because they did charge my card and received a letter that it will be charged back to my card. This Company records their calls and they need to send something stating that this was the case because no one can afford to be charge unnecessary chargers I’m asking that you please reopen this and refund the 49.99. I call corporate I don’t understand why because clearly they don’t have a say so if anyone has had a problem with Barclays credit card please let me know I’m willing to start a lawsuit with you because their investigations are bogus I wish they never brought out my pervious credit card and I will keep reporting this. They calling me at 9pm at night from a phone you can’t even hear on being dramatic saying and if I close my card I’m. It getting another one like who are you just rude, you can’t tell me what my credit will allow !! “I am not sure i would even give them a one. It is terrible trying to get to talk to a customer service agent. Then when you get to chat with one they can not find your account. I would not recommend them to anyone. I closed the account because of a charge I did not make and I am still getting letters about it. “Absolutely disgusted with this company. Had several problems raised a complaint on sep 30th. Was informed I'd receive a call back within 72 hours. Heard nothing so called today only to be told my complaint had been closed. Advisor I spoke to on 30th failed to add to notes I was expecting a callback from a manager.
I'm then informed by initial advisor who informed me after speaking to complaints dept that complaint can't be re-opened and to take it to the FO. I told her that was shocking as my complaint should never have been closed in the first place. She asked if I still wanted to speak to complaints I said yes. Then wait forever again til I finally got through to complaints. Complaints advisor then says she needs to find out if complaint can be reopen! She finally comes back and says it can be reopen I now have to wait a further 5 days for a manager to get in touch after waiting 7 days.
On 30th sep I was on the phone a total of 1hour 14min today I was on the phone for a total of1hour 11min. That's 2hours 25mins I'll never get back
