“I'm new in the trade. They offered me one month free trial and if I like it then I can continue. However, they actually signed me up for 12 months contract for around £58 each month and auto-renewal after 12 months. This is the second month they have taken my money and I have not used any of their services. If you are new in the industry please think twice before you talk to their sales department.”

“Checkatrade are not a patch on what they used to be when it was run by Kevin Bryne before he sold it. Now run by Homeserve, it is just a sales machine for them to get more traders paying good money to them every month for very little in return. Don’t use them - for better to use Which? Trusted Traders or choose someone who is GENUINELY local with lots of great Google reviews.”

“Checkatrade are untrustworthy they have stopped verifying traders and you'll find many without insurance they do not give you the correct number / contact details for the trader you select and often redirect your call to another firm.”

“Contacted Colin @ Window Locksmith Aid Services. What a polite honest knowledgeable man he was. With true old fashioned workmanship principals he applies to his work& business. My Pvc rear door has never opened & closed so easily. I would Highly recommend his services.”

“Check a trade sent us 100s of emails and calls over a three year period, after the pandemic we was about to close down but I then decided to give them a go when offered a free trial. During the call I was persuaded to give a higher membership fee of £70 a month which had a guarantee client base number of 2-3 a month, I was informed on the phone that I could end at any time. My clients never came , so I decided to end the membership and stop paying the fees after 8 months but was told I had a contract. I now have a collection company called SHOOSMITHS threatening to take us to court for £201 plus fees , we are a micro private ltd company.”

“Got ripped off by a trader on there, absolute cowboys. Checkatrade’s guarantee and complaints system is a scam. They don’t care and you won’t get the £1000 they guarantee you with even when they know you’ve been ripped off. They need to be struck off. Do not use them.”

“They do not support local business paying to be under their wings. The company has changed and does not not stand for what it did. I had an wrong review published against my company and they have no interest of finding out the truth or getting to the bottom of the issue.”

“As a business owner using this service to gain more customers for expansion i can honestly say its never worth it. Ironically, they provide a terrible service to the customers that use them. We have tried to cancel 3 times after receiving little work within our area and lots from over 40 miles away. We changed the area numerous times with them but still were contacted by jobs a long way from where we are based. Still paying for their services even though we have been taken off and into our 3rd month after officially cancelling and still paying them! Constantly trying to resolve with them week to week but with no avail? This must be breaking consumer codes which for a company that encourage the connection of quality tradespeople to good clients is almost laughable. I see a lot of people on here with similar problems. We were never tied into contract, i made sure that wasn’t on the agenda but still seem to be paying for services we have cancelled numerous occasions.”

“Hello everyone im advising not to use checkatrade because they are dishonest company who taking advantage of people,i tried to register just to check how everything is is it worth doing it,i recieved call shortly after and spoke for like 1h,signal was braking uo i had hard time hearing whats been said and next day after conversation i was already forced in to fixed 12 contract i had no idea what i been forced into,i found out when login and call them straight away they said they dont really care you will have to pay us for whole year if you didint heard somethings its your problem you have a contract,when i spoke with the lady on a phone i asked can i cancel membership anytime and she said yes offcourse,so i didint think to much about it but she didint tell me that you can cancel anytime but you will have to pay them for whole year fee which was 1440£..they put no 14day cooling off period in contract so you couldnt do nothing about it,i asked very nicely could they cancel it because i didint want any contracts i didint knew nothing and that i dont have any money to pay im almost bankrupt and again not their problem,dishonest and shameful way to force customers paying them,checkatrade should be ashamed!trustatrader all the way people dont let them take advantage of you like they did to me,i sending the messege to protect others from financial bottom as i been forced into one..”
