I have recently had four dining chairs re-upholstered by PBFurnishings in Enfield, a company I found through Checkatrade. I am delighted with the result: truly excellent work, the chairs have been given a whole new lease of life. I can thoroughly recommend PBFurnishings for the quality of their workmanship and their willingness to respect delivery times and make convenient delivery arrangements. Five stars all round.

Checkatrade covers unscrupulous traders. We asked to remove a trader from the panel. The trader did a bad job but commented in his reply to our review that they were surprised with our frustration and lied commenting our points. We provided Checkatrrade with the proof of trader's lies (invoices, emails and photos), but Checkatrade simply ghosted us and never replied back. We sent follow up emails, but no response.

2 really nice polite men who work for afforde doors recently fitted 2 x doors at my house. They are a credit to the company, they turned up when they said they would. I could not fault them. Also the price was competitive. I would definitely recommend afforde doors to everyone.

Honest comment So far rubbish two days ago and my money and they're too busy to get back to me as process not finished apparently I filled in the form wrong one letter I'm the email but nobody seems qualified to change that. But anybody can take your money it's seems. Now I'm trying to get my money back nobody is qualified to do that far too busy taking money it seems so I have to wait before another phone call how many days John from clickelectrical@hotmail.co.uk

No Stars, worst experience as a business owner. You are being locked into a contract for a year and cannot cancel at any time unless you pay for the whole contract which costs me £1166.40 (vat included). We have been approached at FIT Show 2022 by their sales people to try for free 2 month their services and can be cancelled at any time. We fell for it and gave our details and after trying them for a month decided it is not for us and it is not worth the money. They said we cannot cancel as the 14 days cooling off period has passed (they give you 2 months free only for this cooling off period to pass) . After tens of emails and phone calls we got the final response: There is nothing we can do, you cannot speak to a Manager, if you do not pay we will have to get the debt collectors involved. AVOID at all costs and if you are lucky enough to be still in the 14 day cooling off period send them an email immediately that you want to cancel.

If I could give no stars I would. Check a trade are not actually worth the marketing they put out. My mother is presently on an end of life pathway and I wished to make the garden safe for her final summer. I booked someone on their recommendation only to find out when the tradesman showed up made our garden even more unsafe that he was taken off panel due to multible complaints. Check a trade said as not on panel any more. After advice from the police; bank; action fraud and the CAB consumer advice telling me that check a trade should assist they initially looked to step in to assist in getting out money back. When I was in the phone the line was disconnected as they said as works started would look to honour their £1,000 promise only to have the line disconnect and multible calls back to reconnect did not get a urgent call back and a week later basically said not out problem as not on panel and seek your own independent legal advice. I would not recommend that you look to take on board that these company are vetted like advised as it seems as long as someone pays a fee check a trade will verify them. Please be wary of working under the assumption that theses companies are honourable people that have been vetted. I feel just awful thay my mother's last summer has been ruined as the garden was left in even more unsafe state as the man ripped up the paving slabs and the hand rails that the council put in for her. Check a trade should be ashamed of how they have conducted themselves. I can only hope that i can find someone to make the area safe so my mom can have some opportunity to be able to go outside before she passes.

Mr Misty Checkatrade ID: 237790 The whole process was excellent. Helpful admin staff on the phone happy to answer any question. Easy booking system. Very good response to an insurance claim with helpful guidance through the system. Engineer rang in advance, arrived on time and finished the job very professionally. Could not fault anything.

Used a recommended trader for landscaping on checkatrade (clean cut lawn services). They charged me twice for same materials, my son in law noticed as two invoice numbers were the same, the garden has now sank after 9 months and checkatrade are refusing to give me the £1000 guarantee as they say the work will cost more than £1000

I wish i never signed up with these crooks! Theyve been adding on post codes and over charging me since day 1. Call them and theyre all friendly but nothing changes and no refund. Leads are non existent or time wasters, and my company doesnt even show up in the correct post code, even though ive told them 3 times! Avoid

My recommendation is - do not call these people to join. It is an absolute rip off. Each person you speak to gives you a different story. If you join and find it is not suited to you try and cancel your account - you get lied to, passed from pillar to post, told 'sorry, you are signed up for a year now!' All they want is your money, after that it's all about keeping you as a customer, no matter how dissatisfied you are with the service. AVOID!!!!

Checkertrade as gone down the toilet. In the beginning it will work well as it did for me. I pay over £100/month to offer my services but since renewing Nov 21 til now July 22, nothing but 2 or 3 extremely small jobs worth less than £300 for the year to date. Needless to say it but I'm out when this term finishes.

Appalling Company, I was promised a nothing to lose 1 month free trial. I had 28 leads for work I tried calling the customers within minutes of receiving the lead the phone just rang out or went to answer phone. I tried text messages got no response I tried emailing the customers again I had no response. I rang to cancel my free trial at the end of the month as I had received no work through checkatrade only to be told as I had accepted the free month trial you agreed to a 12 month contract. Tha sales team are liars and make false promises I was promised a £50 gift card just for trying the supposedly one month trial. Guess what another lie. Avoid signing up for checkatrade just put the phone down when they call and make you false promises. I’m now stuck paying the con artists £80 a month till next June for nothing apart from to line their pockets.

Checkatrade allowing racism and discrimination damaging the reputation of our business. My husband’s successful company with many hundreds of happy customers is Checkatrade's client paying them many thousands pounds per year for their services and advertisement. Yet, they allow racism and discrimination in customers’ reviews trying to damage the reputation of my husband’s business and that’s the only motivation of this particular customer, who wrote a negative sarcastic review, just because he didn’t receive an email reply for 2 or 3 days. My husband’s company did not even work for this customer!! He recently received a negative review clearly based on racism and discrimination for which we have a proof. They changed the feedback and also didn’t publish my husband’s reply! According to their business policies, he has a Right of Reply, yet they didn’t publish his reply, but they published this customer’s review that was based only on racism in order to damage the reputation of my husband’s business, nothing to do with a quality of the work. Then THEY CHANGED THE REVIEW! People should see the original review so that they can clearly see, this customer is only a racist and nothing else. But they changed it. We have zero tolerance for racism. They are not committed to equal opportunities at all and their business practices are very dodgy and totally unfair practices. Later they published my husband's reply but they changed it with some words omitted, now the first sentence does not make any sense. Attached is a reply they changed and they didn't even bother to write a sentence correctly. This is their fault and they are damaging my husband's business and his reputation with this reply they published.

Now an Absolutely appalling company. Have been with them for 10years and they used to be a good . Unfortunately now only interested in selling ancillary services to members. I had issues with feedback not being put on the website , I complained then miraculously 4 reviews from months back appeared that evening. When I asked for an explanation I heard nothing so I stopped my payments . The next correspondence was a court summons which I paid to protect my credit rating. They then tried to auto renew my membership. Avoid at all costs

Absolute awful customer service. As a business owner using this service to gain more customers for expansion i can honestly say its never worth it. Ironically, they provide a terrible service to the customers and Traders that use them. This must be breaking consumer codes which for a company that encourage the connection of quality tradespeople to good clients is almost laughable. I see a lot of people on here with similar status.

A review platform that is not impartial is basically useless. We had a poor job done by a tradesman hired through them, left a suitably honest review, average 4/10 as some aspects were ok. Check a Trade had a little back and forth before telling me they would not post my review.
