“I joined Checkatrade in 2009,it was brilliant and really got me through the financial crisis. Then it was sold to Homeserve a few years ago. My membership fee went up from £800 to £2400!!! Literally overnight the enquiries stopped. Many calls to CaT but no help. I'm not trading anymore. I wouldn't recommend CaT to any trade. It's had it's day. What a real pity.”

“Complete scam been with them a few years offered no decent work especially seeing I have a joinery workshop phoned then 3 times to tell them I was not wasting anymore of my money with them and to cancel my account they kept passing me to person to person so I stoped my direct debit then they send a solicitor letter avoid they are just using trades to make money for themselves”

“Complete scam. After 2 months with them i wanted to cancel my account. But i couldn't. So i just canceled my direct debit. Few mounts passed by and i started rwceiving leters from their solicitors asking me to pay over £500 membership fees. I called theyr solucitors (shoosmiths) explaind the situation and they said they will get back to me. Then i started receiving letters from them again demanding over £700 because now i'm late.. so i called again ther solicitors wich finally explaind to me how this scam works. So basically you open an account with them "sign a contract" on witch you are obligated to pay a certain amount monthly but they don't guarantee you'll receive any leads from them and you are pretty much tied up for the entire year. Otherwise they'll start harassing you. And fcuk up your credit score and evrything. FOR EVRYONE OUT THERE LOOKING TO GET STARTED WITH THEM..... DO NOT!!! there are other platforms that you can join and be free to choose when you wanna work. And the most i.portant you will receive jobs right away. Now they don't guarantee that you will do the job, but at least they send it to u and give u a chance to chat to customers.”

“Scam , they lie all the time. Didn`t provide full information. They say is monthly payment but in the end you find out is ``contract`` and there is no way to get out of the contract. Last time when i spoke with customer service they say that there is nothing i can do they just give you access to the website . They are not obligated to provide you a service after that and help you to get jobs. I have been with them 2 mounths without getting a single job. They are much better websites that provide service on montly base and you can cancell any time . With checkatrade they keep you like a hostage with some like they say phone agreement . The term of use on their website not gonna help you even when they brake their ``term of use`` . In one word once you agree to work with them there is no way back for 12 mounths . Complete thiefs. Never see some one to work like them . You can cancell the phone contract easy then their. Never trust them before agree just check their term of use and etc.”

“SCAM. They are complete scammers . Some rubbish website keep their clients like a hostage with 12m contract who can not be cancelled . Be aware once you have a contract they will keep you not respond and etc.”

“A warning for future members, trying to establish cooperation with the chektrade company ends in a loss of money because at the beginning checking your credibility consists in debiting money from your account that you must give them to authenticate yourself, it does not matter that you do not cooperate, you will not set up an account that you will inform them about not participating in this project, money has already been stolen from you at this stage then deception and finally a lie that you bought something from chektrade these people are backed by a legal contract that allows you to legally steal from any participant you have no protection against this action at least at this stage, I'm afraid about those who joined this company they will charge you money as long as possible offering only lies They exist only thanks to the trust of contractors for whom they should be support probably the same can be counted on by customers unfortunately you can read about how you are treated on this forum , good feedback about their work s It is only the effect that they caught some contractor in a trap, he must recover at least some of his money invested in it, which he must snatch from you dear customer. to sum up, the goal of this company is to snatch money from contractors desperately looking for a job those who have questions and doubts are not welcome but still have to pay for the first interview to join the ranks of those whom they should respect and care the most to provide the customer with good service and get good opinions and not resort to fraud.”

“Does not honour the Checkatrade guarantee, nor even respond to your claim. Continues to have “approved and guaranteed” builders on its site even though you have sent them photographic and other evidence to prove that a builder has drilled through your joists not in accordance with UK regulations, damaged your living room ceiling (requires full replastering), demonstrated clearly inadequate workmanship at tiling, and acted unethically/fraudulently. Go to Facebook and take a look at “RTC Maintenance (Reviews)” for photographs. RTC Maintenance is apparently “approved and guaranteed” by Checkatrade. A “verified” review on Checkatrade appears to be verification that the review is from someone, possibly the builder himself, who has set up an e-mail account, engaged the builder for a job that may or may not be a real job, and then given the builder a great rating/review for that job that may or may not be real, and Checkatrade then “verify” that this review is from the original e-mail address that was set up for this job that may or may not be real.”

“As trade person for 12 years never been with this Cheating company called Checkatrade, few years back joint to see how it's works, it's absolutely waste of money, you only get message and call for small repair works, never get a call or message for a installation jobs. They just taking big job and pass to companies who pays 1000 months. This is not a directory. don't invest with checkatrade they are cheaters.”

“I'm struggling to understand how this Con-pany are still trading. The reviews (the real ones, not fake ones left by staff) speak for themselves. We cancelled our account BEFORE the free trial ended, they chose to ignore this and have continuously hounded us for money since. They don't reply to emails Stay clear of these scammers!”

“I've been a member of checkatrade for 15 years. Beware of the verbal contract that ties you in for one year and legal action will be taken against you if you try and leave before. In fact I have just got a text message saying I am behind payment. Beware your real telephone number will be ran through the site to hide your number from customers. Avoid this company at all costs.”

“Be aware in taking that free trial as you get locked into a 12 months contract!! Once 14 days has passed they got you. I got mis sold at a trade fair and the 12 months lock in was not mentioned once or the fact I was entering a something called a business to business contact. You can write to them all you want and complain over the phone but you will still have to pay. I now had to reduce my account so I have to pay £38 a month however this reduced account is hidden from customer searches so it's useless! You hear all about scams all the time but I feel so stupid that I been roped into this one. Shouldn't be allowed. Like I said be very careful!”

“Terrible service Paid first instalment and still not live 2 weeks later Called up and cancelled to which they said would fully refund my first instalment , numerous calls back and no refund. Now checking their recorded calls to see which member of staff said I will get a refund. Absolute waste of time.”

“Very poor. I complained about a roofer called Lee Contractors who charged 2400 fir 6 hours work! Did only part of the job. Checkatrade did little about it. Do they actually honour their £1000 guarantee?”

“The whole process was excellent. Helpful admin staff on the phone happy to answer any question until you stuck in the contract. AFTER THE CONTRACT THEY WILL ASK YOU TO HAVE REVIEW ON THE PORTAL, BUT YOU DON'T GET CUSTOMERS FROM THE CHECKATRADE. If you call them to say this they will say stories to you to listen from different department. I WOULD ADVISE PAY FOR YELL, TRUSTED TRADERS OR WHICH WORTH DON'T THINK ABOUT CHECKATRADE. YOU WON'T GET ANY JOB AFTER A WEEK OF MEMBERSHIP, WASTE MESSAGE AND CALLS ARE DIVERTED TO YOU, ALL QUALITY JOBS ARE TAKEN BY THEIR FAVOURITE TRADE CUSTOMERS. SO DON'T PUT YOUR HARDWORKING MONEY ON THIS COMPANY, IT'S JUST WASTE. I'M WITH THIS COMPANY OVER 3 YEARS I DID REALISE SEVERAL TIME BUT STUCK WITH LOT'S OF MY CUSTOMERS REVIEWS. BUT NOW I REMOVED MY COMPANY FROM THERE DIRECTORY.”

“I have just had glazing installed by Topline windows( southern) Ltd. The fitters were punctual, very efficient and worked to a very high standard. The job was completed within the time frame given and the product was of high quality.”
