“I am a trade person who was a member for 3 years and then they decided to cancell my membership because a cps qualification had expired ,even tho they didn't ask for this useless qualification when I started 3 years ago ,they do not check there tradesman properly and as soon as 1 customer makes a complaint they take there side and force them to make a negative review ,stay away from them and they take as many cowboy tradesman as they can to generate maximum profit”

“We booked a floorer with amazing pictures online, claiming to own a flooring shop but only 3 reviews , who spent 9 hours at property doing lounge laminate and refused to do edging around fireplace , curved window and at doorway despite pre agreed work . Insisted that a simple plastic sheet was the right underlay . Just dreadful , I should have thrown them out . I told them to send a carpenter to finish the job and paid 50 % in good faith but mainly as I was afraid I’d get a brick through the window otherwise , they left all their rubbish in a pile outside my front door . Whilst there are amazing workman on checkatrade it is also a platform for rogue traders . I know many elderly people who have been scammed and are afraid to claim . Verified tradesmen doesn’t mean they don’t send inverified workmen with no skills .”

“After learning about the data Google collects through their privacy policy, I made the decision to delete both my data and my Google account as quickly as possible. They're questioning me like a criminal right now, their support. It appears that they do not keep track of payments, and I must provide documentation of my Mail Plus membership.I'll thank Admk Ltd. for helping me achieve the unthinkable and for returning all of my money.”

“I have been seeing post everywhere and a lot of people keep saying reach out to them and eventually I did and it turned out to be legit. now my lost bitcoin is recovered, they have the best bitcoin trading and funds recovery software, Thank you Paybackrecovery-ltd @ p rotonmail .com”

“I have had the worst experience ever! After leaving a review on Trust a Trader we have had a response and unbelievably it has lies on it. They have said substandard work was done and reported. We have thr report and doesn't say that at all!!! It says it looks good and done at correct price, but after sticking a stick up with a camera on it they determined it doesn't have enough lap!!!! It's unbelievable. The pointing is out of the brickwork around the Bay roof but no-one cares at Check a Trader. We had 80 plus reviews nearly all 9/10 stars. Check a trader remove these so two years of reviews gone. I would never recommend anyone to use as people use the review system to bash trades.”

“They owe me nearly £300. They promised me a discount which they could not authorise and then told me I needed to pay for a DBS as someone with the same name as me went to prison recently. but they proceeded to say its something they promise their customers which was very well hidden and an additional cost to me. As it took nearly two weeks to get me signed up as a tradesman, and much more headache, the offered me May free to which then they charged me for. To make matters worse, they charged me twice for the same area. it has been over two weeks and I have still not received any money back to which they said once it had cleared into their bank, I would receive my refund. It does not take over two weeks to clear from my bank. All I get on the phone is 'we understand and we will chase it up asap.' and no one gets back to me. I'm spending more time on the phone trying to chase it up myself when I'm trying to earn a wage on jobs. I would completely avoid if you do not want to be scammed and fobbed off.”

“Absolute farce. Tradesman was not properly insured, created damage to my property, accepted liability at first but then backed out and refused. Because the tradesman was appointed by my neighbour (damage to my property was caused while work was executed on neighbouring property) Checkatrade would not accept a complaint from me despite clear evidence of how, when and by whom the damage was caused. Checkatrade simply wanted to sweep the matter under the carpet. All communications with their customer service was a waste of time - cookie cutter 'not our fault / cant help' responses. Will never use or recommend.”

“I rang the numbers given, for all four of the electricians featured in Checkatrade Cambridge North. The automated response stated 'this company is no longer featured in our list', for three out of four companies! They are quite clearly on their list. I live in a flat where the post box often contains this absolute waste of paper, from Checkatrade.”

“Contacted Milestone tree and gardening care. Swift response and came out to do a job the following day. Did some excellent work on two large flowerbeds infested with ivy and power jetted paths and patios dangerously slippery with moss after so much rain . Very impressed and would use again. Highly recommended.”

“Got a painter and decorator from chrckatrade. Job wasn't up to standard and was pushy for the rest of the money before the job even finished when I already paid them more than half at the beginning of the job. Checkatrade sort yourselves out.”

“Checkatrade starts to become kind of a scam for traders You get promised a load of jobs monthly but ending up with no jobs at all The funny thing is checkatrade keep advertising to get more traders in even though there isn’t enough jobs , I think they are happy to scam traders for couple of months then they get frustrated and leave But they are of course still happy with that. If you want to start with them just make sure they provide you with the promised work load otherwise don’t bother with them , get jobs somewhere else , GOD’s Land is very huge and your income is in his hand not theirs good luck”

“DTS Plumbing and heating Services. After many years of using this company I have just been told that it is a £3 charge to get a written report regarding the faults that were found with. my gas fire. We need this in writing in order to claim on the guarantee. After already charging £170 for servicing the boiler and gas fire I feel that this is excessive and discriminatory against people who do not do wish to use technology .”

“Wallseal preservations, prompt, efficient, more than happy with the job they have just completed at my home, was advised what the job would entail in detail before started, true to word no problems what so ever, the two men who did the job where courteous and helpful at all times, and cleaned up before they left, Bossman David more than helpful, would have them back again many thanks to wallseal presevations Trish”

“The founder of checkatrade made a very reputable company. In recent years he sold his company to Homeserve since then they have made many changes non of which have been better for the customer or tradesman. I would recommend any customers when on checkatrade looking for a trader to no let them send three specialist traders. Go through the pages of traders read the reviews and contact them directly ,this ensures you choose the best traders yourself, also they would be local to you and you won't be waiting for a phone call that doesn't come. I'm an engineer registered on checkatrade and this is what I have become aware of over my 10 years of being a member.”

“Repointing brickwork three cowboys water still coming through windows would not use anybody from checkatrade again these people didn't care about anything but being paid . Even damaged upvc glazing denied everything.”

“FULL of TIME WASTING PREDATORY ‘COMPANIES’. I’ve tried to use them a few times to source quotes for different jobs, incl. boiler service, sash windows repair etc. Every single time I was contacted immediately by predatory contractors with quotes 5x higher than market rates who would not stop, calling, texting and emailing. Never got a serious offer through checks trade and always found good reasonably priced services elsewhere.”
