Poor service and complaint service worse still - where it suggests they have insufficient technical knowledge to grasp the complaint. Incorrect diagnosis made after waiting 2.5 hours. Apparently, even 300 miles from home, once you have the engine running again you are supposed to ignore patrolman advice and instead drive straight to a garage to challenge his diagnosis !

Called them last night at 21:03 they arrived at 5:28am this morning, as I was on the hard shoulder of a motorway with 2 young kids in the car this was apparently their priority 1 response. Many false promises on arrival times and over 4 hours into waiting no patrol assigned. Their solution if I didn’t want to wait was get a taxi home and leave keys with the vehicle, which they accept no responsibility for and clearly voids my insurance I’m lost for words how awful the experience has been and all for a member of nearly 20 years

RAC was exceptional following a car rear ending me in Albany at the notorious roundabout. My car was deemed a write off. From being to end the RAC teams dealing with the claim were understanding, professional, helpful and courteous. I can highly recommend RAC.

Absolutely fantastic!!! Our 2 year old decided to lock herself in the car with no way of us getting her out. After 15 minutes of trying to get her to try and unlock we gave up and called The RAC, advising we had a small baby in the car they put it on an emergency response. Mark amazing guy arrived in literally 5 minutes! And got it sorted in 5 minutes!!! Top class service! These guys are geniuses!! 5 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Don't use, as called them at 19:30 for assistance and told someone would be with us within ten minutes to a couple of hours max. They would call soon to let us know when someone would turn up, no call! Kept chasing them as being told, someone will be us soon no one showed. Then at 1am next day get a call from them saying, they have no night shift on and we would have to wait until eight am (13hours after asking for assistance) Now at 4am just been called by them to say it would be from 11:30 before getting someone to assist us. Even if they do get to us, that is 18 and a half hours later. With have someone here with a heart condition which they were told from the first call we made. Do you want to give your hard earned money to a company who can't give you assistance, especially when you breakdown near a major city!!!!. Please don't use unless you want to spend your whole weekend sitting in a car being told lies.

Recently I broke down on M1 and was able to get off the motorway and found a lay-by. I was able to report this to RAC via their website (much faster than ringing- there was no answer). I received regular text updates which I found helpful and reassuring. Firstly, I would like to say thank you to Cory who did a fantastic job and provided polite and warm customer experience. Unfortunately Cory was not able to fix my car as the problem was more serious. Cory then communicated with other services to get me towed as my car was too heavy for his van. Then, Marcus came and loaded the car (which was difficult) and took me home. Marcus was warm and professional and did an exceptional job! I then received a text with phone number where I could organise the rest of my journey. Again, fantastic and helpful lady on the other side of the phone arranged the rest of my journey for me, which made me feel supported and reassured I will get where I wanted to go. I was very happy with the whole service. The only down side was the whole experience (car check +towing home) took just over 6 hours. I will remain with RAC for the rest of my driving days :)

Perhaps the RAC is going for the worst ever service award. I have recovery and homestart cover. I have been waiting a week for my vehicle to be recovered, every day a different time given, every day hours wasted either on the phone or hanging around for the mysterious vehicle that never arrives. I have had every excuse. Apparently it is down to their trusted associate - so why aren't they kicking their butt? There is no accountability and their managers promise much but deliver nothing. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS SHOWER.

Bad experience! My partner broke down on A road at 14.15 they turned up 4 hrs later. Couldn’t fix car they were advised on call would need recovery vehicle anyway! Broke down 230 miles away from home now 00:45 and still no sign. Was told next recovery vehicle would take him straight home, then told 2 other vehicles/ now taxi and leave car/keys at petrol station to be collected! Shocking so many contradictory conversations! No-one takes accountability furious! Now taxi turning up in 2hrs in total 14hrs potentially to get back home. Poor lines of communication and customer service 2/10

As with most of the reveiws unfortunately I cannot give 0 stars. Arranged for recovery home for vehicle and 2 adults and 2 children age 7 and 8, they had 36 hours notice and still sent wrong vehicle. This was at 9am, they kept promising it would be sorted and in total 29 outgoing and incoming calls made. Eventually sent a hire vehicle at 9.30pm so 13 hours stood on a car park as only place that had signal and then had to drive home from Cornwall to Preston. Rang to enquire where our vehicle was about a week later (gave them time as we still had hire vehicle) and told nothing logged on their system at all, no record of vehicle or the 29 phone calls, no calls back when promised, email received when complained was all about them blaming the staycation and COVID. Absolutely diabolical......

Cannot give them no stars although I would if I could. They gave my keys to a member of the public to look after (who worked in a shop at a motorway service station) for over 36 hours. When the car finally arrived at its destination the door latch was broken, oil on the seats, filthy condition and quarter of a tank of fuel missing. RAC denied ANY unauthorised use of the car or that the ignition was even turned on - my tracker system said otherwise which proves they lied as well. I have issued proceedings against them for the cost of repair and full check of the engine as it is a performance vehicle. Broken promises and lies is all I have had from them. Absolute disgrace

You can read my review on Trustpilot ..my son was left on his own in a vulnerable place with no phone, you eventually sent a van with a totally incompetent young man, who drained the car battery and drove off leaving him alone in the middle of nowhere..Even when I managed to contact you, it resulted in me going out to fetch him late at night nearly an hour away..Disgusting!!

HIGHLY I do not recommend !!!! call them for a breakdown report, they told me three hours waiting time and I said okay. Three hours later a call back and they told me 62 minutes more and then I said okay. Two hours later I called back and they told me they still looking for someone to help me.They should told me that in the first place so I don’t have to wait for all the night, waiting over 7 hours for a recovery and go home with taxi.Just think about how frustrating it must be. Awful service, never use this company again.

4 days to get a vehicle from Scotland, now waiting 4 1/2 hrs for a rescue, awful service, run by liars and theives. Quick to take your money and lie about their service, slow to recover.

RAC will be the first to tell you they're super busy with calls, because of all the staycations... They're also super busy devising ways to make it super difficult to cancel. Auto renewed, rang 2 days late, £25 fee... I had looked twice to cancel online! The renewal quote was £28 MORE - almost a 100% increase on last year's breakdown cover. Absolte con of it all. Customer service awful too. AVOID

Took them 5.5 hours to contact a local recovery service. Left me on the 'emergency' line on hold for an hour. Horrendous, rude service when I finally got through. I'll be cancelling ASAP.

Took 6 hours to be recovered only to be told I was only been taken so far I asked who would be waiting to continue my journey the recovery man didn’t know bear in mind I was only 40 minutes from home This is the 2 nd bad experience we have had the other was before Covid so that was no excuse

34 hours into my breakdown. Arranged my own rescue. Wasted over 4 hours trying to speak to them, still waiting for the car to be taken to a garage. Just avoid this inept "organisation"; the only thing they do quicly is cash your renewal premium.

I drove passed a lady this evening at 5.55pm. Her car had broken down at a set of lights (clutch had gone) She was on her phone ringing for the RAC to recover. I travelled back from my parents 2.5hrs later. I phoned 101 to try ask for help re the dangerous position of the car, they seemed more bothered about whether any hate crimes had been committed towards one armed, black lesbian dwarves. This lady was still standing by her car, on her own and it was now dark. I stayed with her until some passers-by helped her to get her car into a safe place. Shame on you!

Wish i could give it 0 star review. The patrol man was lazy and misdiagnosed the fault and put my life at risk. He couldn't care less. He put my life at risk by asking me to drive to his recommended (friends) garage quite a few miles away. The car was almost undrivable and was making a grinding and clattering noise. I just about scraped it to my local garage 5 min down the road. My local garage said it was the wrong diagnoses. When i complained to RAC they were totally in denial and did not help at all. I have stopped my membership with this irresponsible and dangerous company.
