The RAC are the worst breakdown/ recovery service I have ever used The patrol man/ mechanic was rude and abrupt And a complete liar The customer service people at the other end of the phone are equally rude I have got no idea why anyone uses them I am over 300 miles from home with a dead battery the patrol man told me to go to quick fit Not sure how I can do that when my car won't start As soon as I get home I will cancel Absolutely appalling service

Wont be paying for their service any more following a bad experience with them considering I was classed as a priority call .will go back to green fla or AA to see if they fair any better when next renewal due .Complaints have been sent to RAC and am waiting for a reply to my points made and resulting investigation .

Had a tyre blowout on the A5 near Milton Keyne's NE turnoff. Called the RAC at 1138. RAC driver-technician Paul found me just after 1600. He showed me the scant info placed online for my location. Granted, I had an American phone which made contact and location difficult to determine. Finally able to speak via phones. (I was stuck on a busy dual carriageway.) Anyway, Paul attempted to repair, but it was too badly damaged. Called Jacob of Skelton Tyres, found replacement. Jacob and Paul had me traveling again by 1730pm. Thank you, Paul and Jacob. FYSA, it was an extremely frustrating afternoon.

This review is in 2 parts. Re: RAC car insurance/breakdown cover. Part 1. After speaking to an agent re: my renewal quote, she was most apologetic about not being able to reduce the quote, stating the reasons why. Part 2. Speaking to a different agent re: a quote for breakdown cover [different division], I found it very difficult to get a quote for more than one particular service to compare which one I should go for. Having accepted a quote, I later went online and found I could have got a more comprehensive RAC cover for an extra £13. Not happy about that. Next time I shall go online to conduct business, only phoning the RAC when unavoidable.

On receiving my renewal it had increased over twenty per cent to over £1200 when most companies were reducing there prices

Pleased to say have received a great service from RAC breakdown when needed help especially from the mobile patrol/mechanics. Customer Service on the other hand are a different kettle of fish entirely and absolutely appalling. Worse of all as a department they: 1) Don't answer their phones 2) Don't reply to emails 3) Don't respond to correspondence. Consequently submitting (or even trying) is futile. The RAC website is full of the usual hype and bull about being 'caring' and 'delivering a great service'. What utter rubbish. It smacks to me of a department under staffed and under resourced and simply can't cope. Address these issues RAC and sort yourselves out. The alternative is to haemorrhage customers. And I feel sad to say this having been a loyal member for over 30 years.

I give RAC 3stars for the 5hr wait, but would give the RAC mechanic a 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. He spent time on my fuel problem and replaced a split fuel pipe rather than just towing it to a garage. Excellent job and very friendly and professional. Have had them before just turn up and tow it as can’t be bothered to try and fix the problem but this mechanic has been to me before and actually fitted a fuel pump for me. Always the same though the problem is normally someone on the end of a phone or in an office,

What a useless shower! They lie and make false promises which they know they will never keep even as they speak! I was told that I was a “high priority” caller as I was a lone female and had a young daughter stranded at school waiting to be to picked up. In addition to this my phone battery was at 15%. It still took them 4 hours to come out to me. I would give them no stars if I could. I would never want cover from them again. Stay away from them.

I have been with the RAC since I had my first breakdown in 1968. In those days calls were answered quickly and service was fast (and you even got a salute from patrols!). Since they have ceased to be a Club but now a Business, corners have been cut. Call Centres are not manned sufficiently to answer calls in under 15 minutes so every call is held in a stacking system with constant messages but no indication of where you are in the queue, even for Emergency Breakdowns. Although they proudly announce that most breakdowns can be fixed in under 30 minutes at the roadside, this excludes the response time, which was 90 mins in Norwich City, the last time I had cause to call on them for a flat battery. The breakdown operative appears sufficiently skilled and friendly though. I renewed this time using Tesco Club Card vouchers and the premium quoted on my renewal was inflated by an extra £14. Still worth doing though. I have been loyal to the RAC all these years, mainly because of the help they gave me over 50 years ago when I was constantly calling them out to my old 'banger'. But they do need to pull their socks up in todays competitive World!

I called RAC and was told to wait up to 90 minutes. After 105 minutes of no showing I called again to be told that my request had been cancelled by whoever and for whatever reason - he couldn't tell me. A new 'request' was logged and was told to wait another 90 minutes because that's what the system is set for. After about 60 minutes, a nice young mechanic arrived and changed my damaged wheel and was able to go home. I was in no danger, only bored - to death - as I didn't have anything to read in the car, not even my smartphone. All is well when it ends well, I suppose no one is perfect so this is it.

I was happy with the person rac sent but not with the time taken . Battery died last week at 6pm and rang rac , didn't realise rac just gave job to a garage . Anyway got text saying they will come at 8pm. I was left freezing sat on main road in car whilst driver got to me. When he arrived he said he only got the job from rac now as he was packing to go home. Not happy at all. Guy was lovely.though couldn't have done enough for me. Previously I was with the AA and honestly they were there within.minutes I had problems and really good. Will not be renewing with rac again.
