We broke down this Monday just gone . Just gone 12 we broke down with car , caravan and dog . Rac come out and looked at car . Did not know what was wrong with it . So no holiday for us . We will send recovery truck out for car and caravan . He turns up first of we don't have dogs in the trucks . Then saids I cant take your caravan. He phoned up rac and saids we were abusive to him . So rac said we are not coming out to you ever again . Don't bother phoning again . So left on the m5 southbound . All day. I got really ill in the 40 degrees heat . Phoned the police twice and got incident number. The highways were not much help either . AVOID RAC AT ALL COSTS . GO TO AA . OR SAVE YOUR MONEY UP AND GET PRIVATE BREAKDOWN WHEN NEEDED

I have received an email from the Rac saying that my being TOLD that three hours wait was not really acceptable,(I was actually told between 4 and 5 hours , but who's counting) but that as my call was at 10:20 am and the patrolman had arrived at 10:59 am was quite acceptable , unfortunately she hadn't noticed that my call was on MONDAY and my rescue was the next day TUESDAY !!!

First I waited 9 hours for assistance. Then they sent me a cab and would collect my motorbike later. Now the motorbike is with them for several days (almost a week now!), every time they keep postponing the delivery date. I have to chase them for answers in long calls and I still don'thave my motorbike - RIDUCULOUS. And I thought that the 9 hours would be the worst part. Hiring RAC assistance is a tota nightmare! They keep saying they will call me back a NEVER returned any of my calls. A part from that they want me to call their third party to sort it - this should be their responsability, not mine! The third party is even worst as the give a date and simply don't deliver it! Service is totally unacceptable! Avoid this company!!

RAC have completely messed up my holiday from start to finish. Myself and my family have had 3 weeks of torture - 4 breakdowns in a brand new vehicle; hundreds of phone calls, waiting for calls to be returned (which never are); waiting for recovery vehicles which don’t turn up or if they do are too small, just left on the side of a road with nowhere to stay for a night because they couldn’t find a hotel within their permitted budget. And oh I could go on. There isn’t a low enough score for how terrible my experience with RAC has been.

Absolutely terrible, We broke down in Scotland and we needed to go to Scarborough, it took them over 2 days to get us there we have 4 - 5 stops at different service stations with different people and if I hadn’t of rang them at everyone station they wouldn’t of picked us up. I wont be a returning customer

RAC business is dreadful. In the past year we have had two vehicles breakdown and the vehicles have not been recovered until the following day and our employees have had to make alternative arrangements to get home. Customer services kept telling them that they would be recovered within 3 hours - which turned into more than 15 hours. We are now moving our business elsewhere

Wife hit object on road surface with her Mini, holing the sump. 154 miles from home. Top cover price paid to RAC for many years. Called RAC to be told we are not covered. They class this as an accident! Recommended to me that I claim on our car insurance! Complaints process is a joke. Their staff must be trained just to P you off. My auto renewal had gone through the previous week with an increase of £28. I immediately cancelled when they said they wouldn’t recover my wife's car and they kept £25. To cap it all, today I received a 50% off offer email on their membership. I’d rather lick a fistful of nettles! They shouldn’t be able to use the word Royal.

Had two punctured tyres which had to have two space savers,Rac followed me to kwik fit…. When we got there he said “did you hear anything drop off?” He said that he had left the locking wheel nut on the wheel…. Kwik for them told me I can’t drive away without one as it’s dangerous.Rac promised to send in post as the vw shop was closed… this was Saturday… I waited until the following Friday to call… I couldn’t get through.. so I used another phone to call his mobile…. He said that I had blocked him 🤣.. I don’t think so…. The other way round… he said he would be coming to fit one…. I wait and wonder… tyre pressure symbol has Come up now… do I complain to the Rac now? Kwik fit know the truth so his not waggerling out of it…. I’m flabbergasted…

Absolutely terrible service after our recent breakdown. Today I've spent 3-4 hours on hold with them to speak to staff who would pass me from pillar to post, only to then rudely hang up on me mid-sentence so the whole farce could start again. That was just to establish where my towed car actually was! They have not delivered the car to the garage and now say it will be 48 hours before they do. So, provided I can trust that version which I don't, that will be 2-3 wasted garage days during which I cannot get to work. The RAC staff have lied, cut me off, refused me the right to complain, refused me transcripts of the recorded calls and have not got back to me when they 'promised' to do so. All of this, several times, all day. I have the most expensive level of cover you can get and have had no level of service from this joke of an outfit. Been with them for many years but when you finally need them they are not there for you. Avoid at all cost - certainly can't wait for my policy to finish so I can go elsewhere!

I would rather be hit by a bus walking home from my broken down veichle rather than use ANY RAC service following all of the issues I have had

If you have a simple phone that allows you to talk and sent texts, you can't get any help from the RAC. Their new system is now automated and needs Internet access. So if you are a lone woman and brake down miles from home on a dark night you are on your own. Well done RAC.

ot really even 1star. I waited on the m42s between j11 and 10 for 9 hours and it was my first time and last. Traffic police came 3 times but no sign of recovery. I would have called private recovery but was broken down in a work hire van so had no choice but to wait it out. I was starving and dehydrated. Next time I will drive back on a shredded tyre than wait for for this nonsense company who use very slow small 3rd party companies to do their work because they are too greedy to employ more recovery driver's.

Waiting for a breakdown few hours when calls them they’ve told me in 1 hours , call them again said they don’t find any ETA … so first call at 16:18 and by 20:00 still no recovery , is a real joke company who charge me 999£ for … doing nothing… lack of communication , no respect… run away from this company!!!!

I needed a new alternator but was told it was the battery. Took a second call out to realise this,asked RAC for £158.99 refund but they didnt want to know.They also evaded my question asking if their patrolman are on a commission for selling batterys. Avoid these highway robbers !

Broke down at Stafford M6 services yesterday morning at 8 45 am RAC patrol was great. 1st tow truck driver was great. 2nd tow truck driver decided to drive via London M25 to M3 Fleet services and drop me in the lorry park at 6pm. 5 hours later still no word from RAC as to when a truck was coming. Gave up in the end and paid for a private recovery company to take me the last 50 miles. RAC uggested I get a taxi home and leave my camper van with the keys on the wheel and they would get it at some point. Their animal welfare policy is absolute CRUELTY. Dog die in hot vehicles. They would not let my dog be crated in the back of the tow truck cab. Not loose but in a secure crate. no rise of mess or attack. Just let him cook to death in the vehicle on the back of the truck. It was a sunny day Disgusting cruelty. Will be putting this review on every social media platform I am a member of. Apparantly GREENFLAG MAYDAY is the scheme to be a member of. and endorsed by the Caravan and motor home club. I will be joining today.

My car got broken in. My bag was taken with 2 car keys in it. RAC refused to pay for the key replacement, blamed me for negligence. Note my car was fully locked and was forced entry with window was smashed. How can it be called negligence ?
