“Bought a fiesta from them. Have not done 2000 miles yet but had to replace clutch, tyres, battery , lights, lower suspension pinchbelt, wheel alignment etc. Now they have done health check and I need rear axle bushes, timing belt, water pump ,aux belt and rocker cover gasket, disc pads and pads. Only at 50000 miles , we have done less than 2000”
“Car was booked into Inverness Motorstore for warranty work. They were made aware of the faults before the car went in. On picking up the car on return to the garage it became apparent that none of the work had been completed. Service assistant tried to fog me off saying they had to get authorisation for a part, this was a total joke as the part was easily available on the day within the town. Tyre pressure sensor light had been coming on constantly even though all pressures were fine. Was advised that they had checked the pressures and reset the fault. Had they bothered to road test the car it would have been obvious that the fault reappears straight away.
Received a bad attitude from the service assistant and even worse from the service manager,Duncan when I asked to speak to him.
Customer service complaint team are a complete joke and seem to have attended the same couldn't care less class as the afore mentioned
Going to have another wasted day putting the car back to them, won't be taking any of their attitude this time
If you can avoid this lot and take your business elsewhere to someone who does after sales service
Unfortunately it's a warranty job for me and I have to perservere with them”
“Will never do business with this company again. Bought a 1 year old car from Arnald Clark in August 2020. Cars had a couple faults in one go (January 2021) that have stopped the car from starting. Arnald Clark receptionist advised us to take the car back to them (weekend so service team were off). Monday morning we’re told the car is under manufacturer warranty and needs to be moved, which we got charged for.
Said receptionist sent an email to the Sales Manager blatantly lying stating “In no way did I tell them to bring the car here, customer refused to listen and car has been brought to us”. Manager listened to the phone call and can confirm the receptionist DID in fact tell us to send the car to Arnald Clark BUT here’s the kicker! Still refuses to pay for THEIR MISS INFORMATION as the receptionist didn’t know any better...that’s lack of training and NOT the customers fault!
We’re now out £150 for a problem that Arnald Clark CAUSED!”
“Attended at the Bathgate branch in relation to selling my car with with the promise of a 6 day fix on that price. Two days later I returned to finalise the sale and the salesman, namely Ryan attempted to knock a further £100 off. On highlighting this to Ryan he stated that he had informed me of this and proceeded to be arrogant and argumentative. On requesting to speak with a manager, his reply was “I wasn’t there” but supported Ryan in any case arguing that I only had a part service history which was not the case. On asking why they didn’t take this into account on the day I handed the documents over, they failed to provide a reasonable explanation for this. It was evident then that the manager was prepared to support Ryan despite his incompetence, Consequently I informed them I would not be continuing with the sale and left the premises. Absolutely abhorrent customer service, Will never step foot in this establishment again...🤡🤡”
“Reserved a car online, salesman was very reassuring that the vehicle will be in excellent condition, unfortunately not when arrived, dent N/S door panal, possible water damage on roof linning and bothed up scratch on wing mirror car is white touch up pen yellow, trust has gone with this company”
“Wouldn’t even give these a one star!
Shocking company! Paid 12k for a car that is now worth nothing after a yr of having it! To find out that they have patched half the engine up! With only 3 month warranty!
My advice too anyone wanting to buy a car AVOID these con artists at all cost! As when your buying the car from enquires their like your best friend up until the point you hand your cash over they then avoid any kind of contact with you!
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!”
“Car has broken 1 week after I got it.
Various warning lights including the ABS and engine management.
Arnold Clark customer service is shockingly bad. They have sold me a car which is not fit for purpose. Reported to Trading Standards.”
“It’s a long story starting with a recall on my zafira to damaging to my property to people being untruthful to money attempted to be exthorted from me I have correspondence to back up my complaint”
“In August I ordered 2 new cars with Arnold Clark after checking they were definitely available. I was given a 3/4 week delivery schedule. This availability was particularly important to me as my current lease was due to be returned in September.
Over the next 3 months I constantly chased delivery and each time was told they would be delivered in around 3 weeks.
Fast forward to mid November and we were told one would be delivered the following week, James Kay then ignored all communication going forward, as yet again he had lied about delivery.
At this point I made a formal complaint which was ignored for 2 weeks, then after chasing I finally received a response from James himself calling me out on complaining about him. If this wasn’t bad enough, the email further down the chain from customer service to James stated ‘can you sort this out she’s complaining’.
At this point I sent an email to the CEO department and was contacted by Kieran, head of UK Business sales, who again has been as useful as a chocolate tea pot!
Early December one car arrives. Then in mid December I receive a date for the other car to be delivered. A date that is past when my extended lease car needs to be MOT’d so I’m now experiencing more unnecessary cost and trouble.
The 2nd brand new car was finally delivered yesterday, absolutely filthy!
Who delivers a brand new Mercedes in such a poor state?!
If you value your sanity, time and money.. then please avoid this company at all costs.
Getting a new car is meant to be a joyous occasion. This has been nothing but a total nightmare from start to end.”
“I would not even give one star if it…
I would not even give one star if it was possible.
I bought my second car from Arnold Clark Wakefield in November 2019. Was happy with the Audi A7 I bought a couple of years ago with no problems.
But in November I'm well disappointed with Arnold Clark totally.
I was pushed into putting a returnable holding fee down of £99 and giving all my information so they could submit to the finance company, I did point out that was not sure if I was buying the car till I had seen it the next day, but was again told the car was like new with only 13,000 miles on it.
The next day didn't hear owt so I called around 3pm and was told that I could go over to view the car (67 plate Renault Kadjar) I asked if they had got me passed with finance company and was told they had not submitted it yet, I replied with what was the rush with me paying the holding fee the night before.
On getting to the garage the car was ready to test drive, after my wife and I tested the car we was happy with it apart from a scratch on the rear boot door.
The sales man said he would get it buffed out while we did the paperwork, I paid over £4000 for the deposit and he said he had to send someone to the post office to tax it.
I signed the finance docs and was also told the car had just had a full service.
I was just about to drive away when I thought has he put the temp insurance certificate in the pack. On asking him he said we don't give you that now that I had to pay £20 for it, I said well how have you taxed it then.
I got out and checked the boot and could still see the scratch on the boot and said I don't want the car and was not happy that I nearly drove off without being insured.
He went off and got Chris the manager who was awful and said I couldn't not have the car it was now mine and that the car was 3 years old and was normal to be scratched and he wouldn't do owt about it.
I also told him about the insurance and he said we have stopped giving the 5 days insurance and that I had to pay £20 I told him that I should have been told all this and that what if I had not asked I would have drove off not insured he said that would have been my fault, after me argument with him he said pay the £20 and he would send me a cheque for it, his attitude was awful and not what I would of expected.
A few days later I got a email from head office asking me to review my experience, which I did not being a good one.
Then I got a call from another manager at Wakefield called Callum. On telling him the full story and sending him the picture of the scratch he said he would see what he could do, I told him I could get it sorted for about £100 to £150 at a garage I use.
After a couple of weeks and another 2 email's from me and me telling him I was waiting before I did this review he called and said he could not do owt.
I then called head office in Glasgow and reported it all to them, after a couple of hours the called me and said the same would not sort the scratch.
I advised him that I was putting this review on and could not believe they wasn't bothered and that I think I've been more than fair giving them over 6 weeks instead of just doing a poor review.
This car was £14100.00 and my first car was over £26000.00 and the treate like this.
So I advice everyone beware of this company and don't pay any money until you are happy with any buffed scratches and definitely don't sign the finance agreement until happy.
Also I checked the service book and it was stamped by Arnold Clark but no service sheet on asking they said it just had oil and filter change.
And remember what the manager said all cars have scratches what do you expect it's a 3 year old car.
I totally don't agree and why did they not tell me this before I went over.
All I can say is never again will go to a proper dealership.
Thanks
Ray Fry”
“Terrible customer service and complaints handling
Sold a faulty car to me then carried out faulty work to try and repair and then told me it was my responsibility they'd done faulty work.
Disgrace of a company”
“Doesn't even deserve 1 star!
I bought a renault megane 3 years ago, it ran great the first year, a bit funny the second year (radio would switch itself on and off, lights would switch themselves on, battery was always dead because the lights and radio would switch on and run all night when I was in bed - caught on cctv in my driveway). Arnold clark denied there was anything wrong with the electrics even after seeing the footage.
Year 3, developed a major electrical fault. Charged me £1850 to fix it. I probably should have refused and bought a new car but I'm attached to this one for sentimental reasons. So I paid it only on the grounds that this would solve the problem and I would never have to take it back again. They guaranteed this would be the case.
After getting it back the radio and lights continued to do their own thing (which arnold clark promised me would settle in time) and now six months after paying out all of that money, the car is dead again and I have been told they wont even look at it unless I pay another £180. This means that including the cost of the car, I would have wound up spending £7,230 to a company who have provided me with nothing but faulty goods and misinformation for three straight years.
I have complained several times and have not yet received a response. Horrible customer service and I will be advising everyone I meet to avoid this company like the plague.”
“"Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with Arnold Clark" are you kidding, I've read all the reviews and they are appalling. Why dont they do something about this. I'm not going to say what my bad experience was as my head is thumping just thinking about it.
SHAMEFUL”
“I bought a car (Nissan Micra) from Arnold Clark 1.5 years back for 4800. As I am leaving the country thought to sell it back in Arnold Clark. They gave online quote of
1. 2300 ( good condition)
2. 2100 ( average condition)
3. 1900 ( poor condition)
Note: my car was in really good condition
When I went to the show room the quote which they gave was shocking, it was 1500. My first question to them was even the car is in poor condition I should get 1900, are you taking it for scrap?
The answer he gave was there are scratches around the car.
When I bought the car it was already 7 years old(2012 model) and all the scratches were already there. When I asked this he was saying I should have talk to the guy he sold it to me ( different person in Same Arnold Clark branch- Sighthill), he said : you can go to other carrages if you want better price.
In simple words.... @#_&--&_°^€π׶{€=÷#( I want scold them in all the bad words)
As friend I am telling this, don't even think about Arnold Clark to buy or sell the cars..
I have attached the photos which I took when I bought. You can clearly see the scratches when it was sold to me.”
“Don't buy from Arnold Clark my sons car lying in ford Strathaven already bought part himself 200 pounds, warranty don't cover still not starting they want another 65 pounds, to check it wife has cancer 4 wee kids still lying there no car for hospital please don't go here”
“Do NOT buy a vehicle from Arnold Clark - keep one word in mind: AVOID.
Why? Because their after-sales service is shocking.
I purchased a new van from them after which it has taken me ages to conclude an enquiry about a service record booklet.
Their Blackpool branch did not return any messages for THREE MONTHS asking for the same - that is until last week when I finally got through and was informed that a new service booklet would cost twenty quid (after me paying £9k for a new van!)
I followed this up today and was further told that that this booklet was now £45.
A later call to another AC department in Blackpool now gave a different price of £35.
By now you’d get the picture same as I did that you’re dealing with a bunch of scammers instead of a self-professed reputable company.
I declined to pay either outrageous prices - the service record is a necessary document - what’s so expensive about providing one?
Moreover - what’s so difficult about returning a phone call?”
“Don't get a car from here my son just bought 5 months ago Ford c max the fuel sensor has just went and they won't cover it by warranty big suprise his partner just been diagnosed with cancer 4 little children and no car for hospital and they have the cheeck to charge him 65 pounds too fir checking it he's having to buy the part himself and go fix it shocking to say least don't go near them”
