“Dropped my car off on Thursday 15 February 2023 for a computerised issue and 3 recalls. They called pretty sharp to explain delays due to requiring further information from their Technical Team which I accepted. By Monday 19 February 2023, I had heard nothing unless I called them (no updates provided), however when I called they advised they now had the information but my car was at the back of the que as other cars had came in since, to then go on and say that I'd just need to wait, they couldn't advise when my car would be seen, "just when they had time", also mentioning on two occasions that they've had cars there for "a week" (Service Advisor) and then "since last year" (Service Manager).
To now, when I call they are refusing to speak with me and are passing pathetic messages of excuse onto the Receptionists.
I've logged a formal complaint and written to the CEO. Unsure if it'll make the blind bit of difference.
Their attitude is shocking and their Customer Service can't be described in words!
They couldn't give a toss about their customers. My car is a Warranty job so isn't making them any profits so therefore chucked to the back of the que as their only interest is profits but like to portray themselves as 'Customer Focused', only when we part with our cash though!”
“Bought a used car , took out extended warranty at time of purchase, fault came up on dashboard asked to get it fixed under warranty, then told id have to wait 6 weeks !
Never buy from them again”
“Paid Ā£23,000 for the car and bought the Ā£500 2 year Autocare warranty. 7 months down the line and i have an āexcessiveā oil leak, numerous lights on the dash which is apparently down to a faulty sensor somewhere and is setting the rest of the sensors off and a number plate light out which they have quoted me Ā£67 to replace!
The faulty sensor they will look into but the oil leak is not covered under the warranty i paid £500 for. They conveniently put in the warranty everything that IS covered which makes it look quite extensive when in actual fact it is parts of the car that are unlikely to fail in the cars lifetime.
Avoid them”
“Arnold Clark sold me a faulty car. They buy their cars at auction and patch them up. They consistently lie to you too. I have reported them to Trading Standards and I will tell everyone I know about my terrible experience. Avoid at all cost. The car I purchased lost power on the motorway. The gear box has failed and they laughed and said cars break down all the time. AVOID ARNOLD CLARK.”
“The best advice I can give to you, is please DO NOT buy from Arnold Clark. Our experience is that they will just lie constantly to get a sale. The after care customer service is none existent. The manager and sales person at Stafford actually ghosted our calls! How unprofessional is that?
Plus the car had not been cleaned when we picked it up. We had to clean sick from the door.
Worst experience of buying a car ever. Never again.”
“I HAVE WRITTEN PROOF OF HAVING A FREE MOT AND SERVICE FOR TWO YEARS ON THE CAR I BOUGHT FROM YOU. I WENT TO BOOK THE MOT AND SERVICE ODAY TO BE TOLD I AM NOT ON THE SYSTEM AS HAVING THIS. I HAVE CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICES AND THEY EMAILED BACK 2 LINES AND NEVER EMAILED AFTER THAT. SHOCKING SERVICE ALL AROUND. AFTER SERVICE HORRENDOUS.”
“A two star overall review says it all. I give AC minus 10.
2 cars every 2 years, a verbal agreement with an advise who was sacked telling us we have our first service free. The to be told 'its not in your contact' Diabolical Customer service who should all be SACKED!!!!! And continued calls asking if we want to book the car in first service. I could only reply with words that couldn't possibly be printed. Let say AVOID THIS COMANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!”
“Bought a car from Sefton Street Liverpool 12 months ago. Jake the sales rep advised I had 2 free services as part of the deal. When I called to book my first service I was told by Jake that I didnāt have a free service and he denied offering the service as part of the sale. My nephew and grandfather were with me when Jake promised the free services. Jake denied this and said his Manager didnāt have any recollection either . His attitude towards me was unprofessional and patronising. I would not recommend him or Arnold Clarke.”
“Took car in for repairs was told what the issue was paid for them called 2 days later told they had the parts. That was 11 days ago really disappointing I have no car now what am I ment to do”
“Easy to buy a car from Arnold clark as they will do anything to sell you a car but that's where the niceness ends... if you are unlucky enough to get a car that's not fit for the road then don't hold you're breath getting anyone to take action any time soon. I picked my car up 90 mile from my home. It broke down 5 mile from there garage. Knowing I had a 1 week old baby a 2 year old 11 year old and my wife in the car you would think being only 5 minutes away they would come collect us or send us a courtesy car? No we were told to call the AA and had to wait over 5 hours in the dark -2 no food toilets and originally stuck in the middle of the motor way then getting a TAXI home getting back at 1am. Nearly 4 weeks later and being told parts were on order and then again on order to then being fixed the mechanic "took it on a test drive" heard a noise and had to order more parts. The 1st day I went to pick the car up the interior mirror was smashed and the battery didn't work to the key. I still don't have my car. Once you buy the car and they get paid you just become an inconvenience. I've paid for 2 mots and 2 services but being honest I don't want to take my car back for anything. Very cheeky and to the point staff.
Over all great fake friendly staff before parting with money. The worst after care I've ever experienced anywhere I've ever shopped.”
“Lots of attention while you are buying. As soon as you have paid for the car, the after care is appalling. They will ignore your calls. They will lie to you. Run as fast as you can from this company.”
“DO NOT BUY USED CARS FROM ARNOLD CLARK.
Bought a car from Arnold Clark and within 6 months (but after the 60 day warranty) I have had so many problems with it and they refuse to fix as all of the problems are conveniently not covered by the "extra cover" they pushed me to purchase when buying. only done 3k miles in the car and just been quoted £2000 worth of repairs. oh and they delay you booking in a service until after the 6 month mark so they can quote the consumer rights act to you and make it out that all issues with the car are your fault.
AVOID!!”
“Was offered Ā£1200 for my Renault Clio online (older car but still worked well). But when I got there, after a quick inspection the guy said it was in a very good condition considering the age, just had a few light scratches here and there from age-related wear and tear.. but due to these āminimalā scratches, could only offer me Ā£660! Absolute crooks, they know exactly what theyāre doing and will take advantage of people in rural areas knowing thereās no alternatives. Bet theyāll sell it off for about 5 grand now!”
“Arnold Clark have admitted repair is covered by warranty but can't look at the car for 8/9 weeks. (Cumbernauld Kia) Even told me that I could shop around and try to find another non Arnold Clark Kia dealer to carry out work. Great when buying but then it's a couldn't care less attitude. Avoid at all costs.”
“Purchased a Mercedes A-class. Sat Nav removed & only 1 key. Messed about & ended up getting rid of the car despite assurances of having the missing key replaced.
Bought another Merc. Lied to about compensating me for having to pay additional fees to keep my old car as the one I was purchasing was delayed.
Then I picked up the new car & within 24 hours was back in for repair. They'd let it out with faulty tyre & brakes needed done too.
They messed up the credit agreement. Had to sign a new one after taking delivery of the car. Wholly awful experience went to sell the car back with only 1500 miles since I'd bought it. It had dropped £8k and fictitious damage was the reasoning.
Left review on tryst pilot but Arnold Clark seem to have them removed despite being authentic.
An utterly contemptible, lying, cheating, swindling, dishonest company start to finish. Best avoided & 1 star was 1 too many.”
“God help who bought my Vauxhall grandland x 19 plate TTV nothing but stress and they did nothing if you read this get I touch I have evidence to back up my claimant the wet belt has not been done sooner er or later it will snap has cracks in it us other faults still Arnold clark not got back to me”
“Bought a 3 year old vehicle which I saw online and started complaining of faults the very next day !! Iām a vehicle technician and have been for 18 years.
Refusing to accept vehicle back !
Avoid avoid avoid”
“Absolutely no bargaining with these people, have bought cars from them for 40 years. In these hard times thereās no give at all none, they want it all. Hope people go elsewhere and they shut down ,they deserve it with their greed.”
