Totally unhelpful staff. No margin for any flexibility or understanding of customer needs.

I visited the Barclays Chelmsford branch this morning to see a personal banker and while i was waiting to be seen i witnessed one of the most upsetting acts of 'customer service' i think i have ever seen, absolutely abhorrent to me and those sitting near me who also watched the incident un-fold. An elderly woman (82 years old) entered the branch and was greeted (in the loosest possible terms) by a Barclays representative who asked her the purpose of her visit. The elderly woman simply wanted to pay her electricity bill and was told that she would have to do that at one of the machines. She wasn't comfortable with doing it at a machine and although she was offered help she really wanted to do it at the counter where she had experience and felt more at ease. The representative was not listening however and even though the old lady was becoming increasingly distressed at the situation the representative remained resolute, arrogant in her responses and showed absolutely no respect or empathy towards the old lady eventually bringing her to tears. It was shocking to have witnessed and before i left the branch i made a formal complaint.

Barclays business customer services is very poor. I spoke to relationship manager in Watford and he is so arrogant and unhelpful. Keep promising to get job done and never did anything on time. Try to speak to relationship director and same thing. Thinking to take it further through complaint.

Total Rubbish. Waited for an hour on video call and then nobody attended. I'd pop to a branch but they have shut them all. I am seriously considering moving my account to another banking company after 37 years of being with Barclays.

After my mother recently passed away trying to deal with Barclays has been an absolute nightmare. Although I have completed forms over several different visits to the Burnley branch and these were then sent for checking with Bereavement Team no payment was received. Apparently a signature was missing on a form. They will then send this out meaning another two weeks delay. Staff training is abysmal with conflicting information being given out. Different departments do not communicate and the whole operation is an absolute shambles. Avoid like the plague

I went to do the banking for the company I work for and I thought the teller asked me to come to the counter but then he started serving someone else and said he wouldn't take long, in fact it took fifteen minutes, this isn't the issue, I stood next to a man making personal transactions and didn't know what to do, I couldn't step back as someone was at the front of the queue, I apologised to the man making the transaction and that I'd been asked to step forward, at that point the teller said quite loudly that he didn't. When I eventually got served, I was polite as I always am, however, there was no apology made to me by the teller, even if it was miscommunication I would have expected him to say something so I could have at least apologised but nothing, so unprofessional. I was so embarrassed by the whole situation

terrible bank. went today to take my deceased dads name off of my mums account. everyone has a mask on and says its for safety, yet they have 1 staff working and theres 50 people crammed up in this shithole. i was told to wait in the teller queue with these 40 people, even though i dont need a teller. shithole bank that feel no need to offer acceptable service to their depositors. they even turned the air conditioner off, i guess thats how much these despise their customers. i dont have any photos, if i did i would caption it 'shithole'

In answer to you question, what went 'right'...nothing...have you ever watched a film where the goodie is battling to overcome brurocracy, incompetence and every other modern world negative experience..I used to work in a bank and could speak to a 'real' person...even the branch was measured on how quickly the phone was answered...senior management would be unhappy if the monthly report showed that the branch wasn't up to scratch in terms of customer service...not any more..I suggest the CEO Jes Staley does his job and earns his salary and sorts out the shambles that Barclays customer service now is..if you decide to offer remote customer contact then you have to offer double the customer service approach..it's not rocket science.. I somehow think this message and my suggestions will be put in the nearest waste paper bin...but,like the ending of the film..the goodie might eventually win the day...

I applied for a mortgage with this shambles of a company. Please anybody think of doing the same stop… immediately They will accept you on principle, you’ll pay there fees and they will filter you. If they see others to lend to for what ever reason the decision in principle will be taken apart Meanwhile 2 months have gone by Utter scumbags Edit Delete Share

Extremely rude and ignorant staffs. I wanted to create a young persons account but I needed parents or guardians permission. My mum doesn't speak very well English so could not understand what the lady was saying. So I decided to translate, the lady then yells at me telling me that I cannot do that and proceeds to cut the call without any explanation. Horrible first experience with Barclays bank and I will definitely be opening a bank account in another bank.

When I say Barclays is the worst bank in the country it is not an understatement. Wether it be rude ignorant staff, a lack of care or passion or they want to sit and racially profile while accidentally answering the phone about last nights euro final players I have never experienced such disgusting people in my life how they are employed baffles and the fact they are still allowed to be open speak on how broken society is. If I had one free pass to kill a group of people it wouldn’t be the nazis, the taliban but it would be the people who work for Barclays bloody bank

They declined a dd of £8. Then charhe me £20 for having to decline an £8 dd due to insufficient ballance. They tell me nothing while fining me for going into "unarranged od", then 3 months later they warn me with debpt collectors for a £200 "debpt". Barclays is also the innovator of the "PPI" scam. They are the biggest bastards out there, stay far away.
