“I ordered 2 books by the same author. I received 2 of the same book. It would have cost more to send one back than I paid for it. So I reordered the one I didn’t get. I received yet another of the two books that I already had. These books were art text books and very cheap but I do not need or want three of the same book. So I’m not really impressed by the service.”

“Sadly this book was covered in dust and dirt and damaged where ever it had been stored. Can’t use it, disappointed in this. Other 22 books received were immaculate and clean. File will not up load tried all option you provide”

“I should know better. This is, I believe, the fifth time I have ordered from BWB only to be informed within a short space of time that the book I ordered was not available. Very poor management. This time, Better World, NEVER AGAIN and so I will advise my book circle of friends.”

“Made a purchase on a Wednesday giving an incorrect delivery. Notice my error immediately and sent communications to them (within 3 minutes of placing the order) with the correct delivery address. I received no response so I attempted to cancel the oder. Received an instant response stating that the order couldn't be canceled as it had already been "picked and packed". This was within 30 minutes of placing the order. Three hours later, I sent another message asking for confirmation of the new/correct delivery address. No response until two days later on Friday saying it was too late to change the address. There are plenty of reliable book selling sites online. Better World Books is not one of them.”

“I purchased a book set from them. Shipping was very slow. When I finally received the item it was not the book set that was pictured on their website. It was an entirely different set. When I reached out to customer service they told me I shouldn't have purchased based on the photos they advertise as they may not be accurate. They only offered a refund but I would have to pay return shipping. I'll stick to sellers that actually use photos of the items they are selling. I've purchased countless books over the years, the majority of them online. This is the first time I've experienced this.”

“Compré un libro con la condición de que su estado era "Usado-muy bueno". Cuando me llegó el paquete venía simplemente en una bolsa de plástico. El libro está super usado, de biblioteca. Muy mal estado. De antemano, había pagado los gasto de importación, pero al llegar el libro a España, volvieron a comprar los impuesto de importacíon, 4 euros... Total de la compra 20 euros. No volveré a comprar en esta tienda.”

“I ordered from them twice. No email order confirmation or cancellation. A credit card check revealed orders were processed & later refunds issued. Will not purchase from them again.”

“They would not refund my purchase (books never arrived) because I waited longer than 30 days to notify them. Customers should be notified of this policy when making a purchase.”

“FORGERY! The book sent was NOT the one listed! It was totally misrepresented!. The book inside the (correct) cover was not legit! It was a bunch of recipes from who knows where! Law Suit very posible when I send this to the author! This is a disgraceful company with deceptive practices. I will never buy from this company ever again.”

“Totally misrepresented their book. I knowingly purchased an ex-library edition however it was supposed to be a hardcover edition in Very Good condition. It was listed among all the other copies available listed by the First Print publisher. They sent a Large Print edition not an original published copy. They say it was there in the listing - read the fine print - the ISBN was listed - I was supposed to check that the number was correct - they used the incorrect photo for the item which would have said large print as well - disgraceful company with deceptive practices. Never buy from this company.”

“Worst experience of my life with shipping service. Books were not in stock when company was going to ship my product. Finally, they shipped a few books they could find. It has been almost a month (over 20 days) since I placed the order, and I still don't have my books. Found out today, after watching tracking number that the shipping label came off and now USPS can't deliver the package. So, it doesn't look like I will get the books they were supposed to be sending.”

“I ordered a book in Very Good condition and received an Ex-Library book with stickers on the spine and stamps inside. The binding was loose, the book heavily used and the condition could be listed as Fair, if it hadn’t been Ex Library. Better World Books clearly misrepresented the condition of this book. I have sold used books and know how the condition code works, you can pick ONE from: New, Very Good, Good, Fair, and Ex-Library. It’s like your age. You only get to choose one. You can’t be 40 and 16. The whole industry agrees on this. My receipt even says Condition: Very Good. Their customer service sent me a canned response of “We work with many libraries who send their overstocked books or old editions for us to sell. The libraries then select a local charity or one of our literacy partners to receive a portion of the proceeds, in addition to earning funds for their own programs.” So they justify misrepresenting book condition by using words like “charity” and “literacy partners”. They were not apologetic at all, just send it back if you don’t like it. You know they are just going to list it again as Very Good and fool the next customer. It sounds like all their books are Ex Library. Just avoid these guys. They are hustlers.”

“I had a very poor experience with this company and their support team. I ordered a book and it did not arrive. i contacted them about this and was told "Customers must inform Better World Books of nondeliverey within 60 business days of shipping." I was unaware or this and didn't see any email saying it had been shipped. They will not give me a refund nor the book I ordered. I have emailed them several times and they send the same response every time. I will never use them again.”

“Described as "Good" condition but turned out to be dirty, creased, dog-eared and water stained (see photos). Seemed to have been left out in the rain at some stage. Wouldn't have paid 50p for it at a jumble sale. Not worth returning as I'd have had to pay postage.”

“I bought a hardback book from them on ebay, described as 'Very Good'. They sent a poor paperback copy. When I tried to return for a refund they started arguing about me having to pay the postage, which is in contravention to UK Law. Not a nice company.”

“Bought a book on eBay. Three days later I'm told it's out of stock and to wait a couple days for a refund. I pointed out the obvious, and "Leah" responded by arguing semantics with me. No apology, but they cancelled the sale on eBay to avoid my feedback, so I'll leave it here. Not an ideal seller on multiple levels. Avoid if you're reading.”
