I had fun and learned very cool facts, but I would have liked to know WHERE I made mistakes, both during the lessons and at the test... Funny animation though😉

I think it covers a little about a lot of things. Maybe it should be tailored more to pleasure craft that is 40’ and under. Anything bigger, and really it’s not a pleasure craft but a yacht that someone professionally looks after operating. Perhaps too much into maintenance and how to do things associated with that isn’t part of operating the boat. Just touch on the importance of proper maintenance is noteworthy. This course states over and over the importance of wearing a PFD. I get that most deaths are associated with that, but again this is an operating certificate, perhaps stay within those boundaries. This course has typical mission creep and has drifted in to too much of everything but not enough on what’s really important. Is firing a flare that important? Not really but I had 3 questions regarding it and the module covered 4 types. I think people would figure it out if they get to that point, chances are they wouldn’t because they forgot what was really important and not really covered in this course. It is in the right direction, however, I just looked for the aim of the course, and it is to reduce the number and severity of boating related accidents and fatalities. This is not an operator card aim. Perhaps you need to change the name of this course, I was expecting to learn how to operate a boat, I didn’t. Perhaps this is why I reviewed the course as I did. Personally I think the government is making money here for something that isn’t in their jurisdiction. Yes, educating the masses about boating safety, but holding us ransom with this course as a prerequisite to operating a boat without any other course is disturbing! I think that if you want to meet the aim of boatsmart, then steer people toward taking a proper operating course. This is when accidents and fatalities would decrease. No one flies an airplane, or drives a car without an actual course and practical test. Why isn’t a boat the same way?

Very informative course that prepared me well for the final boating exam. However, the time limits for reading the information pages were very irritating. I found that I could read through it in about half the time provided and then had to sit and do nothing for sometimes over a minute. I understand having time requirements helps ensure people don’t skip reading, but I think the amount of time provided needs to be re-evaluated so that faster readers don’t get bored.

It’s annoying when it came down to the timer needed to wait to go onto the next page especially if you’re advanced but the content is great quality and easy to use.

I really liked the way the information was structured, but the timer on every page was a bit much. I can understand if it's a mandate, but sometimes it only takes a few seconds to read through the page.

Neat course, well divided and balanced. Some sections too long while reading. Videos/animations when available are well-made. Would have liked more navigation materials. Some questions on exam are not well constructed and can be confusing.

The content was excellent. There are a number of typos. A couple of them caused me to be puzzled around the exact meaning.

This was a good test but a little repetitive towards the last 2 modules and took a long time. Final test was a breeze though. Went by really fast with just 50 questions. Most of which were common sense or an obvious answer. I took a lot of notes that I didn’t really need for final but you do need for quizzes. Over all, a good site and easy to follow learning. Price was good and I like that it’s unlimited access Incase I need to refresh myself. I would def recommend!

The information is very well put together and presented in a format that makes everything easy to learn, the only down side was that the module quizzes do not show what you got wrong so if you miss something there is no way to learn from your mistakes.

Overall was good, but a number of the chapters in several sections the timing was off. Also the final exam covered some items that were NOT covered in your course.

Overall great. Of the 6 model quizzes their were atleast 2 questions that weren’t covered well or were outdated stats. I wish I could see what questions I missed from the models and final exam to learn from. I also wish it was a bit more specific... ex) how many yards off shore I need to be to be out of the wake zone. I liked the videos and layout. I like that you could go as fast as you wanted without be stuck on time locked pages like some of the safety programs from other providers. It was nice it saved my progress so I could complete it over multiple days at my own pace. Even though I passed the exam with a 98 it was good to know I could have retaken it if I wasn’t successful. I’d recommend Boatsmart to others without hesitation.

It was a good course. It would be helpful if it gave you feedback on quizzes so you know which questions you got wrong.

The course was definitely helpful. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that I was disappointed with quite a few of the final exam questions. While they were from the course material, I think there was plenty of much more beneficial questions that should have been on the final exam. For example, I had a question about what type of motor is on a PWC? Not really that big a deal, is it? I think a better question would have been in relation to navigation or safety. I know the questions are probably pulled at random from a bank of questions, but I honestly think that someone should cull some of these types of questions with better, more relevant and useful questions. But still a very helpful and educational course, thank you!

The content was good. The timer was terrible. I spent 75% of my time waiting for the timer to tick down so I could proceed. This could be done in 1.5 hours if allowed and I would consider using another service for this simple fact.

Didn’t cover all of the exam questions but did a good job of basic learning, it repeated quite a bit though.
