It would be nice to know what answers you got wrong on the quiz and test!

Covered all of the details which was helpful. However, I am a quick reader and having to wait for the clock tick down to flip to the next page was a real waste of my time - i could have been done much earlier and still got the same content out of it- that's my only negative about it.

Great source material. Very detailed. Content relevant to government exam. Would prefer an option to go faster than required by timing in some modules. It does not show incorrect questions on module tests. My family would have liked to see what they got wrong.

The audio and video aspects were very helpful, and each lesson was clear. If there was a quiz question at the end of each lesson just to check understanding, that would be quite helpful!

Very informative and helpful, however the timed period required on each subject made the course twice as long as it needed to be.

In some of the modules there were multiple slides of the same thing not a big deal if it wasn't controlled by the timer so it takes long to get through the modules. Also your wording on quizzes don't line up well with questions and you get them wrong very easy. Not a fan that you have to start over on the module if you fail a test because the wording of tests don't go along with what your modules say.

You should not have to repeat full modules if u do not pass the quizzes, they do not even tell you which questions you got wrong and the correct answer, should be able to review incorrect questions and move on.

Good course, found it very easy to read it and listen at the same time. Can get through it rather quickly. Lots of information.

Lots of content. Learned a lot. Do wish you could determine which questions you missed on the quizzes though.

The course itself is very informative. I am disappointed that when completing the quizzes I was not made aware of questions that were answered wrong. I finished the course with some questions, and not as confident as I could have.

Overall the course was good, entertaining, and informative. there were several things that i think could have been improved to make the course better and more professional. There were many typo's in the material, the narrator made several mistakes with the printed narrative, and there was zero explanation on the various methods to listen/read each lessen. The end of module test questions were repeated within a ten question quiz, the test questions often focused on numbers that were meaningless to safe boat operation ( what % of people died via this boating accident, why is that relevant), and there was no way to know which test questions you failed, so you couldn't actually learn what mistakes you made. There was a lot of good info and I'm glad I took the course. Thanks. Mark

The course covered 85% of what was asked on the exam and provided me with enough instincts to respond well to the rest. The only criticism I have is that the timer restricting you from moving forward was longer than the video or sound recording that you listened to, so you sit there waiting for cometomes a whole minute before being able to move on. This make the process so much longer, and less enjoyable. The timer should not be longer than the sound recording or video. I would argue that there should be no timer at all. I can read so much faster than either so I was always waiting. I got a 90% on the exam, and I felt I did not need the restrictive timer.

The material was well presented. My only complaint is that there is no option to proceed directly to the test. Having spent an afternoon pouring over the study guide I did not need to wait through the online course.

The count down timer is not inline with the narrator

I had fun and learned very cool facts, but I would have liked to know WHERE I made mistakes, both during the lessons and at the test... Funny animation though😉

I think it covers a little about a lot of things. Maybe it should be tailored more to pleasure craft that is 40’ and under. Anything bigger, and really it’s not a pleasure craft but a yacht that someone professionally looks after operating. Perhaps too much into maintenance and how to do things associated with that isn’t part of operating the boat. Just touch on the importance of proper maintenance is noteworthy. This course states over and over the importance of wearing a PFD. I get that most deaths are associated with that, but again this is an operating certificate, perhaps stay within those boundaries. This course has typical mission creep and has drifted in to too much of everything but not enough on what’s really important. Is firing a flare that important? Not really but I had 3 questions regarding it and the module covered 4 types. I think people would figure it out if they get to that point, chances are they wouldn’t because they forgot what was really important and not really covered in this course. It is in the right direction, however, I just looked for the aim of the course, and it is to reduce the number and severity of boating related accidents and fatalities. This is not an operator card aim. Perhaps you need to change the name of this course, I was expecting to learn how to operate a boat, I didn’t. Perhaps this is why I reviewed the course as I did. Personally I think the government is making money here for something that isn’t in their jurisdiction. Yes, educating the masses about boating safety, but holding us ransom with this course as a prerequisite to operating a boat without any other course is disturbing! I think that if you want to meet the aim of boatsmart, then steer people toward taking a proper operating course. This is when accidents and fatalities would decrease. No one flies an airplane, or drives a car without an actual course and practical test. Why isn’t a boat the same way?
