“Really easy takes awhile to complete but happy I chose boatsmart”

“I found the course interesting and useful. Parts of it are just common sense and I would do them as my normal practice. For example everyone wearing PFD's or stopping for someone in trouble. Other parts are new such as navigation, safety and emergency. I did learn some useful things. On the final exam I had three wrong and would like to know what they were to be sureI did not miss anything. Thanks for the opportunity to take a good, sensible useful course.”

“Decent service but it has some issues. Often in the topic quizzes questions asked did not have content in the training. The biggest annoyance is the forced timer in the bottom, often a short 30 second video has a timer holding you there for far longer. I also found reference material to be not well detailed or explained poorly, aceboater does a better job with this. Also why is it mandatory to complete training on material that does not have to be covered such as trailering. Sure it's nice to have but I honestly have more than enough experience with hauling trailers, waste of my time.”

“I grew up with boats long before any testing was required. I had considered skipping the online course and just writing the test. Having completed everything I think that I would have passed without the study material but I did find it helpful. In some cases, it clarified why things are done the way they are, in other cases it dealt with things that have changed since I was around boats.”

“This course was in depth and very easy to use with pictures and videos to go along with each slide. The optional study guide is also great addition for someone who wants it as a quick reference guide!”

“The first time I did no.7, the vocal stopped sound but, the timer kept going. It worked a day later, after I got the fail indicated. Frustrating! Overall, it could improved although the main test seems mostly accented to larger craft - they should need a hands on course.”

“It was a thorough course and very easy to follow and well put together. My only issue was that the timers are too long! It was EXTREMELY frustrating considering the hundreds of 'slide' you have to go through. I would finish reading the content and then have to wait an extra 5-30 seconds to go to the next slide. I understand the purpose of a timer but consider shortening them to maybe 75% of the existing timers.”

“This is a course composed by people who have been out in the sun too long in their boats, not by people who know much about education. The course is very poorly organized, very unevenly weighted, and lacking in clear focus. It should be re-written by somebody who knows something about test composing. Section 6 on buoys is the biggest problem: that one section is more work than all the rest put together. It is dumped out in a blur with confusion and much over-lapping. I am sure that everybody cheats on that section; it is the only way to do it in the time allowed. If you really want someone to learn that stuff, you have to break that section of buoys into a part two of the whole course, maybe even give a separate star on your license for it.”

“Great course! One thing I did not like was if you failed a quiz you must go back and retake the whole module again. Instead of identifying the section you may need to review you are stuck going back and watching the whole module. In the case of module 2 that is an hour.”
