“Too expensive for what it is”

“There were no ownership details available whereas an HPI check has shown up 8 previous owners so even though this service is cheaper it does not seem to have all the details recorded.”

“Not exactly what I thought I was getting, as the banner headline made reference to accident information, sadly this is only recorded data through insurance companies, which I already had. For a tenner it tells all you would normally need so worth it for the basics.”

Dear Richard, thanks for taking the time to review UKVehicle.com - we're glad you found the check useful but disappointed you think we've mis-sold accident information. We do provide the MIAFTR data that the insurance industry keep on damaged vehicles, along with MOT information (on vehicles over 3 years old) but don't provide, or sell any specific accident information in addition to this. “history was ok and interesting however there is no mention of outstanding finance. I e mailed you to ask if this should be included and have had no reply in 2 days hence the normal review”

“I was looking for as much info on a vehicle as I could as my car was involved in a hit and run collision and a note was left with a reg no only. I checked your website and from looking at the example was told I would find out which area the vehicle was purchased, however this didn't show, only the date acquired. Other info I could pretty much find out for free. So I won't be using this again as it wasn't very helpful. Thanks.”

“Most information provided without problem however the one thing I really wanted was the VIN number. You've simply said it should end in 01. That's not really enough. Please provide the full VIN number.”

“Very good and very simple to use. However it failed to give me the one piece of information that I actually wanted. I bought the car a month ago and am awaiting my V5C. I wanted to see if the DVLA had me down as the owner. I need to get a second key cut and I can't do it without the registration Document.”

Hi Malcolm, glad you were happy with the normal stolen/written-off/colour change/reg change results. We don't check finance for two reasons - 1) history reports that advertise finance checks don't check for "log book loans" - the most common form of vehicle finance and we don't want to mislead that a vehicle is 'finance clear' when it's not. 2) We want to keep the essential costs down to our users and our experience has shown that people buying cars are most interested in whether they are stolen/written off so we focus on these checks.

“Much of the information provided was already known. I was very interested in the previous advertised sales but this did not expand and there was actually more information and images visible on the website for free.”

Hi Andy, thanks for your review. We try to provide as much data as possible to our users for free but we have to pay for Insurance Database, Police and DVLA data and that's why we have to charge our customers for our comprehensive vehicle history checks.

Hi Marie, obviously disappointed to receive your review and comments but hopefully the check did provide some value. We offer valuation information and previous sale history (where available) which is above and beyond what's on the logbook but this is primarily used by would-be buyers before a purchase rather than owners. Hi Zareen, thanks for your review and your comments. We're disappointed that we haven't delivered what you were after in this instance, however, no car check providers are able to provide this information as it is held, and protected by the DVLA. You may be able to request information from the DVLA on previous owner details for a small fee here: https://www.gov.uk/request-information-from-dvla. “Tried this to get a bit more background on a car where the Dealership had told me there were 3 previous owners (2009-15). Was hoping to see a bit of history as to why. The check did not provide any history on this, and in fact (therefore) gave zero as the number of previous owners. Everything else was as stated by the Dealership. So all in all, didn't add any value for me, but was worth a try.”

“When you look at the listing what they have to offer is good so i put the registration in an paid for it the list wasn't the same right at the bottom it should say what the road tax is for the 6/12 months . so that was a waste of money not using this website I'll find someone else an send them a email first before I buy ? an you can give me a refund back as it's false advertising”

We spent a lot of money purchasing stolen and written-off information so that you have peace of mind when buying a vehicle, the car tax information is free and we try to display the correct data but sometimes DVLA data sources are incorrect.
