“Coles Maryborough Qld, I agree they are not here to serve their customers, I don't use self serve, why should I? but if course only 1 checkout open.
The store now is more like a takeaway food supermarket. And most of the grocery lines are
now coles brands and everything is pretty much small sizing, which we pay more for. Don't shop there anymore.”
“This afternoon at approximately 4:25pm the gentleman at coles Eastland self service check out, publicly humiliated myself along with my sister and singled both of us out in store.
While I was scanning my items I was purchasing your employee decided to think it was acceptable to advise us we needed to scan a 30l of breeders choice kitty litter. Yes I am aware I need to scan this item. Being a large and heavy item this would have been the last item scanned as it does not fit in a coles shopping bag.
As I was exiting the store your employee stopped me in the middle of the self check out area and demanded to see my receipt and that I hadn't scanned the 30l of kitty litter.
Your employee public humiliated us infront of other customers. If your employee wasnt socialising with which would have been a friend or family member he would have seen us scan the item.
It is utterly disgusting and disgraceful behaviour and to be humiliated in a public place and to be accused of shop lifting or stealing items its embarrassing for not myself but your employee.
Your employee is paid to do their job not to socialise.
I took ot upon myself to complain to the store manager but he didn't have much to say besides sorry and he will speak to the employee. There were other employees present in that area who I am sure witnessed this incident.
The disrespect and accusation for stealing is outrageous and has left me pretty angry.
Every time I am in this store, this particular employee hovers and "police's " myself and my sister Every time we are shopping and it is extremely uncomfortable, wrong and rude.
I expect a response and a review into this experience and into this particular employee as the service dis disgusting”

Products are great and well stocked.
Debbie served me yesterday at Cannon Hill, but all staff are fabulous.

“The online ordering system only works half the time. The system set up to help sort these problems out is non existent. It directs you to a live chat for support that actually doesn't exist. Supplies horrible coffee. Runs out of one egg brand, instead of supplying a different brand, supplies nothing.”
“I had a very disappointment experience with an employee at the self-checkouts today, 15/07/2025, at Colonnades Coles Supermarkets. I made an honest mistake during scanning and immediately called and informed the staff member what I have done, and I repeated again explaining once more my mistake. Instead of acknowledging this, the employee responded with unnecessary arrogance, and insisted I watch the CCTV footage – despite me already admitting the mistake.
I felt uncomfortable and judged, even though I was upfront and cooperative. Mistakes can happen to anyone, even to professional check out operators, and customers who take responsibility should be treated with respect, not arrogance. This kind of attitude is not what I expect from a place I shop at regularly, as I was not trained to work at check outs. Coles’ staff should be trained and reminded of the importance of respectful customer service.”
“Coles Ocean Shores 11.30;am. ..so many shelves empty or half empty,one staff on checkouts,one on service counter,and one on self serve, needed price check stood at checkout for 10 minutes they called for check three times and no one came…left store…..very poor management regarding staff and shelves.”

Emailed Coles and was advised this was a limited promotion and that stock when sold out would not be restocked. “I purchased a frozen blueberries and it says no added sugar.But when I opened the packed I couldn’t even eat because of the sweetness. I checked the back and for 100 grams 9.5 grams of sugar per serving %16 is a huge amount that I never tasted this much sweetness in natural blueberries without added sugars.So FALSE İNFORMATİON to customers.Disappointing and disgusting”
“No price matching and poor staff/ customer relations.
Asked employee about price matching, in an what i felt was aggressively manner told that Coles had never and never will price match. Then lead up with directing me to return the item to the shelf as they are too busy and nowhere to place the item/s.
I sent a complaint and only recieved that Coles doesn't have a price match policy, nothing about the way I was spoken to.
I have been a customer of coles for probably 30- 40 years ,I only use Woolworths for delivery as coles hasn't offered until recently at Bateman's Bay.
I will never buy at Coles again and encourage others not, especially if you're going to be treated as second rate people.”

“The worst for online orders. Their paypal payment doesn't work. When you call to get assistance the wait time is over 30 minutes. First time the operator was helpful and assisted in processing the order through paypal. The next time the operator insisted it was my account and just cut me off. Never processed my order. Woolworths are much better. Will only use them from now on.”
“I love shopping at Coles for groceries. In general Coles brand products are very good. Except the Coles brand berry cheesecake. Sour berries, nearly no cheesecake filling and the filling and topping was runny and base was tasteless. Wasn't nice at all.😞”
“i went to coles today with my limited budget wanting to earn some knife credits. an item i brought, a tray of sausages. i tried to scan it flat and tilted but the code was not visible by the scanner, it was on the top. i had to tip it upside down so it could scan. when i lifted it up the seam gave way and sausages were every were. it was embarrassing and i was also sad about wasted food. the employee around immediately tidied and told me to take another one. i was not charged for it or blamed. but i would appreciate if they can place barcodes at comfortable locations on their packaging's. despite this experience i still like to shop at coles”
