Terrible service and a shocking bad experience! My flatmate booked in advance via compare the man & van website. We even paid the deposit. But the driver didn't show up and no one in the company took the responsibility. It is been more than a week, we even have sent a formal complaint via email and we are waiting but they have not responded.

Compare The Man and Van are con artists and professional scammers, and have been given one star because I'm unable to select 0. Please bear in mind they have an answering service only. Their messages are apparently passed on, but you never get a call back. I to date have called 11 times over the passed month with my enquiry flagged as high priority, and still have not received a call back when they hold my deposit for an uncompleted job. On 28th May 2021 I booked a large van to arrive at 9.00am on Sunday 27th June to move the contents of our 1 bedroom flat to a new property. I booked well in advance and early as we were moving out as other tenants were moving in that day. To save time and help our driver we moved 30 large boxes down the stairs of our one bedroom first floor flat so the driver would just have to load. However, at 8.40am I received a phone call from the answering service 'AnswerConnectUK' on behalf of Compare The Man Van informing me that the night before my driver 'Jacek Zabroki's ' van had broken down and he would not be arriving in 20 minutes as expected, despite me getting a text an hour before saying the driver was on his way. I was told that they would find another van and driver to help us move later that day and I would get a call back or email confirmation to confirm this in an hour or so. I waited until midday and got nothing from Compare the Man and Van. Until this day no one was sent and they still have my deposit money. I had to find another van and driver on a Sunday at short notice and was charged double the fee. Needless to say moving is already stressful, but being told 20 minutes before your driver is supposed to arrive that he won't be, is frankly unacceptable. But what is absolutely diabolical is that I've complained under my booking reference and emailed Compare the man and Van and I have had NO REPLY. I have called their answering service 11 times, had to repeat the story 11 times, to call centre staff as well as supervisors and nothing gets done. They flag your message as high priority, but no one calls you back. On one occasion I managed to get a telephone number for Compare the Man and Van customer service from a supervisor who felt sorry for me, or was tired of me calling, and would you believe, the number '0203 621 9481' is not in service! Complete scammers and con artists. The answering service just repeatedly say they are an answering service and they have no direct details for Compare the Man and Van. My next steps if I am not contacted by next week, which will make it one month since the failed booking are the Met Police Action Fraud, Citizen's Advice, Trading Standards and Small Claims Court where they will pay my legal fees, as well as fees for pain and distress caused. If you don't want the hassle, don't EVER book with Compare The Man and Van, the positive reviews are either lies or people who were lucky enough not to have their bookings cancelled on the day.

Still waiting outside in pouring rain,nearly 7 hours,Cant leave goods as will get stolen.This firm is disgusting.Supposed to do job at 11 am today,My mother was called at 06.20 am this morning saying man had to take his baby to a hosp appt at midday so could do at 5 pm Still nothing,telephone calls and e mails all day asking me how the service was.Yet still waiting for a call back.£118 out of pocket.

Scammers or Unprofessional? I think Scammers Never written a bad review in my life, just don't bother and maybe they had a bad day. I have been a part of businesses and sometimes employees or employers let you down but not this time.... This is a real scam. They take your payment and do not confirm with the driver before sending you a confirmation. No driver turned up so I called, he said he didn't take the job but if I pay cash he'd take me. Their customer service team takes queries and relays them through email to the operations team which doesn't get back to you. They cannot answer simple questions like "who is your manager?" or "who owns this company?" saying it is private even though it is actually public on Companies House. Probably fake. I'm pretty certain I've spoken to the same American/Canadian lady who 4 times - all with a different alias before they blocked me for simply asking for a call back. Still no refund, no one has gotten back to me. It's total sham. Probably fake positive reviews online from their side. Do not use this company!

I was not happy with the service the men didn't know what they were doing they could have finish the job in two hours but they dragging the time and didn't know how to load the van i would not recommend this service and it cost me a lot of money

My experience - hired a driver through CTMAV, even rang him two days before to confirm. Got a text an hour before he was due saying he was going to be with us... He didn't turn up. Had to call him - , he told us a story about his van breaking down and that the company would be sending another driver. No one came. Rang CTMAV - just an answering service. We thought we had been scammed. No-one rang back for another 3 HOURS; we were left in a really terrible situation, belongings on the pavement. Eventually, someone called and we had to beg, literally beg, them to find a driver. We had paid upfront! Appalling. 7 hours later, a driver turned up, and demanded another £30 on top of everything else, even though we had paid for two and it was well within that. Other reviews have said the same, so presume this is a common tactic. The worst, absolutely diabolical customer service I have ever come across; words cannot describe how awful this experience was. We've since had no acknowledgement of how bad this was, no refund and certainly no apology from CTMAV. I say again, because I sincerely do not want anyone else to go through what we went through - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Do not trust them, they could do to you what they did to me.

This company is a complete sham. Do not use them!! I booked a man and van with decent ratings. I then got an email saying my driver had been switched for one with poor ratings. There was nothing I could do about this. To cut a long story short, the driver didn’t turn up and was uncontactable on our moving day. Since then, I’ve called the helpline multiple times , told someone will call me back and they never do. They have stolen my money and it’s now impossible to get a refund. Appalling company. AVOID!!

I am appalled with the service I received with Compare the Man and Van. I had my driver changed 5 times which was within a few days of my moving date which is extremely unprofessional. On the day of the move, I got a call from the driver at 8:30am (my booking was at 11am) saying he could no longer come at 11am and was coming at 12noon. I asked why and he said the customer who booked before me was running late, therefore needs more time. I stated that I booked 11am in advance, payed for that time and am now being told my booking has changed because someone else was running late. I refused to move my booking to 12noon because I booked for 4 hours so I could be done for my 3pm appointment. After some time, the driver said he will talk to his boss and get back to me. During this time, I contacted Compare the Man and Van, explaining what had happened, and was told they would arrange another driver. Around 15mins later, I received an email saying I had another driver from the company Lorin's Logistics. Lorin then called me asking what I needed removing, I said some boxes and one sofa (on the original booking I said boxes and possibly 2 sofas). He asked how many boxes and I said I was not sure as it's a house move but possibly around 50 but I can't be sure. Once the driver and 2nd helper arrived (I booked a driver and another person to help move things), my mother showed the driver the boxes and sofa in the garage. The driver was immediately very rude and said he would not do the move as there are too many boxes and he doesn't get paid enough for this. He claimed he was told 40 boxes would need moving, when I never specified that number. My mother tried to reason with him and said we really need to move things so agreed to have only 40 boxes moved, but he still refused. He walked out and headed back to the van. He told the helper they were going to leave which is when I questioned why and they answered saying there was too much to do, they have another job far away after our booking, the distance between the pick up and drop off location was too long (even though it is specified in my booking how far the distance is, and both locations are less than a 20min drive) and their boss had also apparently said this was too much for them to do. They then went off and started talking in another language we couldn't understand. While my mother tried to reason with them, I gave Loren (their boss) a call and explained what had happened. He was extremely dismissive, hostile and rude. He shouted that he would not let his men move our things, again accused me of lying saying I said 40 boxes when I didn't, which then lead me to end the call because there was clearly no reasoning with him. I then called Compare the Man and Van and explained exactly what had happened. The lady I spoke to said someone would give me a call as soon as they can but this was not good for me because I was ready for the move and needed my things moved before 3pm. I said I made a booking for 4 hours so I could be at my new place for my appointment and all of my things are packed and ready to go. The lady apologied for what happened but said she cannot help any further. When I told her I would need a van for the same day, she said she can't guarantee that. I therefore said I would need to book a van with another company for the day so asked whether I could get a refund and she said she could not confirm that either. After the call I had to book with another company which cost me double the amount I paid for Compare the Man and Van due to the short notice, and also came later than I wanted so I missed my appointment. Following from that, my mother and I have made several calls asking for an update and each time we called we are told the same thing - the company are working on the complaint and will contact us when they hear more. It has been over a week since the incident and I haven't received a single phonecall or email back I am extremely unhappy with the service I have received. When I made sure to book in advance of my moving date, specified everything I needed including the hours I would need the van for and the distance, I was accused of lying about the amount of boxes I needed, refused another van to pick up my things and have not had a single person reassure me that something is actually being done about this, that I will receive my refund or compensation after chasing frequently or even an apology. If you need to book a van for a move, please avoid booking with this company. You will risk being treated poorly by their employees and receive no help should something go wrong.

Compare Man and Van have proven to be a very interesting company. Like many others on this website, I had a negative experience where they changed removal company on me last minute which resulted in me being having to pay extra for a service that was below par (items were broken and I got complaints from other residents). What was worse that in trying to raise a complaint, I was ignored and told someone would call me back which they never did despite raising the matter 6 times. Instead they hire a answering service who say they will pass on messages but won't reveal who they are, who is getting the messages and do not even seem to have a log of previous conversations which seems very suspicious. It seems like Compare the Man and Van are happy to take money but not happy to be contacted in any way

Booked online, driver never showed, ran drivers number continuously, with no answer. Contacted customer service online (As phone number on there website it just automatic and advises you to do it online. waited 2.5hrs no reply from company or driver. Still waiting for a refund. Customer service shocking. Do not use

Scam company, driver never arrived, customer service is a joke run by bots that won’t get anything sorted. Lost £50 in the process that I won’t likely get returned at this pace. Avoid like the plague.

Compare the man and van? Hard to compare when neither the man nor van turned up! Ordered a moving van and received a text an hour before to say it was on the way, only for them to call me 15 minutes after the van was due to say the delivery driver cancelled. The man who contacted me was unable to organise another booking for that day but seemed positive that we could get one for the following day at 11. However, they let us know the following morning that no vans would be available as there were just no drivers in my area. (Information that would have been incredibly useful right off the bat to save us a lot of time and stress!!) To anyone moving from the Ipswich area: don't bother with this service as there are apparently no drivers here, so you will only be let down. Definitely never using this service again and would give a zero star review if it were possible.

Stay away of Man And Van. The WORST experience within last 16 years in UK. My furniture has been damaged/scratched. They generated extra serious costs because: 1. they have moved wardrobe by ROLLING it like the ball 2.they have lost himself and traversed distance 0.3 mile (between old and new flat) and arrived after 40 minutes (!!!) despite the empty road. Walking time is 3-4 minutes. 3. they have moved sofa from flat to the van for 40 minutes (!!!) 4. my wife has been asked by them a few times: "when you will pay me" despite the job was in the middle (!!!) 5, only in first 30 minutes they took 2x 5 minute breaks which is 33% time of job. 6. They have been extremely indelicate. When me or my wife watched they worked correct but when they feel unwatched the items had been moved like a WASTE. 7, the van was dirty and wet We are really disgusted this service. We had spent about £1000 for moving and replace damaged items. We are making negative review as a warning for people which looking for move team. List of damaged items: - wardrobe (bought a new one and pay extra for waste removal company) - bottom of sofa - scratched on glass tv stand - damaged carpet in old flat - scratched walls on corridor (old flat) It's so sad. I have lots of pictures of above. I hope you will find a professional moving company which is NOT ManAndVan

Francisco was amazing! I felt worried about making a move with someone I didn’t know but Fransisco instantly made me feel comfortable and was so helpful and wanted to make everything as easy for me as possible! Really friendly and made the moving an enjoyable experience rather than a stressful one. If I moved again I’d go straight to him! Couldn’t recommend more!

I have moved 14 times 2 of which were overseas moves all done by professional companys so i have had quite a bit of experience with removal companies and i can honestly say this company is by far the ABSOLUTE WORST i have ever had the misfortune to deal with. I originally went online for a quote but due to the circumstances i thought it best to deal with a human instead. The quote i received over the telephone was over twice the quote online im not sure why but i needed to move asap so paid the £260 odd in full several days before the removal day. This was such a bad experience i am just going to list the " highlights " 1. Turned up with no face coverings or gloves. So much for taking precautions. So they had to borrow some masks and gloves. Not a great start. 2. I am hard of hearing and after telling the man that appeared to be in charge several actually after constantly telling him i was deaf he decided he didn't want to deal with me so instead he started asking the representative from the landlord what needed to be done etc. The problem here was I have never met this man in my life and obviously he couldn't answer any of his questions, he kept telling the driver he didn't know but he didn't stop asking. 3. Although i had itemised everything that was to be removed during the phone call the driver just kept saying " you can take that in your car". I drive a ford fiesta hardly a vehicle meant for moving furniture. I ended up driving back and forth 11 times because he wouldn't take it in his little van. 4. When they delivered my furniture they wouldn't take anything upstairs. 5. They left my sofa and dining table in my front garden, the grass was soaking wet but he didn't care less. Then of course it poured down so my sofa which cost over 10 times the cost of this move is ruined. My wooden table didn't fair too well either. I could go on and on about how rude and ignorant he was. He clearly had a problem with me i don't know if it was because im deaf, female or disabled or a combination all i know is I WOULD AVOID THIS TERRIBLE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS i would rather carry each item on my back than use these useless people again. Whilst they didn't come prepared with masks etc. he did manage to put all his necklaces and bracelets on and I have never seen removal men wearing a nice jeans and shirt ensemble before, but don't worry his clothes were spotless when he left probably because he had done bugger all.

If I could give 0 I would. I booked a van to move home and on the day of the move there was no van. When I called it seemed that they had not booked me in despite taking my deposit. I then had to wait 3 hours for them to find a replacement van to come and when it did the driver had stuff in the back. Despite all of this I managed to get moved and spoke with the team in toon to compensation. They assured me that if I send in my info I will receive it within 24hrs. 4 weeks later all I have had is non answered emails, I’ve been hung up on and still no refund!!! I will NEVER use this company again and urge that others stay well clear.

Terrible to work for. They pay the drivers peanuts and treat them like dirt! If you have any self respect, don't work for them!
