I've advertised on this website a few times now and I find it takes alot of time to make the advert. It's also way too expensive but there are not many other options at the moment. Donedeal was a fraction of the price but unfortunately they dont advertise dogs any longer.

I think dogs.ie is a good site for advertising dogs on. It has a good audience and ads get a good number of views. The only things I think should be changed are the ads should stay listed up for longer and you should be allowed to bump up ads more than 3 time's which is currently the case. I find the more an ad is bumped or up near the top most recent pages the better chance of selling a pet to the buying audience compared to it being down 10 pages or whatever. One other thing I think should be changed also is the description box be left open for sellers incase they need to edit the wording or if circumstances change or whatever else they might have to change. Other than these issues, dogs.ie is a good site for selling pets.

Hi Anon, I'm sorry you are not happy with the price of an ad. We display the ad prices on the homepage and before you checkout, so there shouldn't be a surprise about the ad costs.

It is a great site to advertise dogs but unfortunately there are too many ads going up every day. With 20 plus ads going up every day it is not enough to be able to bump the ad only 3 times. As a new ad that you put up is on page 5 or 6 a few days after. Out of 4 pups I only managed to rehome 1.

Hi Sandra, Thanks for your review. There are currently 883 open ads with 2,405 available dogs, so there is a lot of competition between breeders to find homes for their dogs. We see many first time breeders, who bought a dog during Covid and want to have a single littler with the dog they bought during the pandemic. Your ad has been seen over 400 times since it was posted 4 days ago and it will be listed for 3+ more weeks. Hopefully you get some callers over the weekend.

Having reduced my price I have received some calls of interest in my puppies.

Hi Veronica Thanks for your review, and sorry you have not had a better experience. We do have 11 ads in the Pomeranian category and 29 individual dogs so there is a bit of competition between sellers. Your ad has been seen approximately 300 times since it was published. It is strange that you didn't get any callers.

I just find the set up very basic. And im not getting the calls even tho the insights are good for my ad. And my pictures are alot better than the majority in my category.

This is my second time using this website to sell my dogs and I haven’t sold a puppy on it yet. I might suggest offering bumping the ads for free rather than paying €12 each time. On other for sale websites you can bump ads for free for a limited number of times.

Hi Anon, Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and I'm sorry it's not a 5 star experience. Looking at your ad it's the only one in the Coton de tulear catgory, it may be better to place it in the Bichon Frise category as that gets more views. Your ad has been seen over 500 times, but the price of €1300 for a cross breed might be putting some people off.

While I find Dogs.ie very handy and a great safe platform for buying and selling puppies and dogs I do think it is too expensive to advertise, I believe the site should either lower the price of leave it as it is but give 3 months of advertising instead of one month. They site managers might also look at making it easier to use the site as I know a few people have said it's difficult to get used to navigating while loading the advert and pictures. I like that the site does it's best to keep buyers, sellers and the animals safe.

Hi Anon, Thanks for your review. We do have a more friendly site coming in the next few weeks, customers will be able to custom filters and favourite lists, and image uploads will be a lot easier. If you haven't sold your 2 dogs by end of the 30 days, please let us know and we can extend for you. Generally dogs sell a lot quick than in 90 days and we've found 30 days to be enough to find buyers.

It takes a lot of getting used to advertising on Dogs.ie, it's too easy to make mistakes. Maybe try to make it more user friendly, I notice lately lots of people have no photos up, is it possible people can't understand how to do this? Good site but needs to be more user friendly and it needs a stay signed in feature, it's annoying having to log in all the time.

Market is no longer good, a month to sell a litter is too short now especially at the much lower prices attainable nowadays. So one is obliged to readvertise which makes it expensive. In my own case I will continue to use dogs.ie as in my interactions with it, it has been efficient and professional. I will also explore advertising in UK which i have previously done, because it even with rabies and transport requirements etc the increased prices attainable can make it a more attractive marketplace. Thanks for the review DB and honest feedback. I think post COVID there are two factors: 1) a rush of people to get dogs in the last 1-2 years, so numbers of people who want dogs right now is slightly lower as so many people got dogs at the time. 2) additional breeders in the market now, some of these new owners are becoming breeders for the first time, and the additional number of puppies available has brought prices down by 50% or more. We expect things to settle down in the next 6-12 months and possibly the prices to slowly return to pre-pandemic levels.

Its a big hike from €1 per ad per month with done deal to €50 with ye. A 5000% price increase seems a bit unreasonable

Hi Kevin, thanks for your review. I can't comment on DoneDeal and how they factored out their pricing levels. They are no longer accepting ads for dogs for sale, so I'm guessing it wasn't sustainable for them. For us we want to be able to deliver a level of service and support to our customers, and also as a business be sustainable and profitable. We know we can't deliver this for €1 per ad. It's been over 2 years since we last changed the price, we continue to invest in marketing and a new platform that's coming soon. We hope that our platform helps you sell / buy dogs easier and quickly.
