I purchased a car online , with a 3 month warranty . V5 didn't arrive , had to chase it twice . Charged me for petrol they didnt put in. Car was delivered with a broken spring ( which they said was 'wear and tear') , a rotten exhaust which fell apart after a week (which they said 'wasn't covered' ),although salesman had told me it would be years before the exhaust needed replaced , and seized rear brake adjusters which they just didn't reply about. In the end my emails were ignored after being told the above . Seems the car probably wasn't inspected by them at all before it was sold . Dangerous! (Suspension and brake issues). Avoid !

Very poor service, no access to speak to anyone. Complaints department stonewall customers, very dismissive attitude towards a real compliant. I purchased a Peugeot 3008 in January, had an adblue fault dash warning in the 3 month warranty period, Plymouth branch reset the fault code. They made an appointment with the local Peugeot Plymouth centre, unfortunately a family member was taken into hospital. So I could not attend it. The assured me that they would rebook. After this the branch was closed down. The fault reoccurred, I contacted Evans Hawshaw, as above they have no record of the issue. So in conclusion I’m nearly £2000 out of pocket. Think very carefully about purchasing any car from them. I spent £16000 on a car that should have been fit for use, now 2 grand later I’m still worrying this car will breakdown again.

Nothing but a bunch of liars its no wonder they don't record phone calls they have with customers, make them put everything in email or record your phone calls because they'll deny ever saying anything and the complaints team which is just a manager at the branch your complaining about will just take their word over yours. I bought a car from them a few weeks ago, i was messed around constantly and advised to come down and view the car just to turn up and be told the car isn't ready and i was lying about someone telling me to come down which makes a ton of sense! i was told the car had full service history and was well looked after, car has had 1 service in 7 years and all they did was perform a minor service on it prior to sale which i wouldn't even class as a service but lets say 2, apparently 2 is now full service history. I put in a complaint and it was just sent to the same people who have been lying and not communicating with me so i don't even need to say how the complaint went, car also didn't have a spare tyre or jack kit and no mats or parcel shelf, i got offered a service and parcel shelf as a good will gesture for being ripped off £2500 because their staff lied but of course they denied it, sales team also broke data protection by sending me documents with private info on like the price they paid for it off the previous owner and also bank details of a company they use. Still waiting for my service to be booked and my parcel shelf, getting very close to just driving it back and leaving it there for a refund, communication has been terrible and simple issues could have been fixed within days if they actually knew what they was doing, tried to push me into buying a warranty and claiming they dont make money off it which is another lie, also told me when i said no i was basically silly as their 3 month warranty only covers up to £500 etc when i know consumer rights covers act covers anything for same amount of time as their warranty as long as you can prove the fault is a progressive fault and couldn't have been caused by you driving it for x amount of miles and the warranty is a rip off anyway, they just resell it and are very smart with how they choose which parts are covered and which are not. Once my service is done and parcel shelf i will never buy another car off them again, it takes so much effort to get a simple reply and its always 'give us x amount of days' so you do then they say 'no i told you a week not x amount of days' but in the end you just get fed up of them, i made it clear i want a major service considering the car is almost on 61k miles and its last full service was done at 29k miles but i don't doubt for a second they'll try doing a minor service on it not realising my mechanic will be taking all plastic covers off to see what's actually been changed afterwards and if they have then we'll be going back again and again until they get bored or force me to reject the car and cost them money, also forgot to mention i was told the car had paint work consisting of bumpers being resprayed and alloys being touched up, if these bumpers have been resprayed i'd be concerned considering its got chips and scruffs on it so yet another lie and also told alloys were stripped and repainted and not just touched up when its clear they've only been touched up with a pen off Ebay as they look a mess on two of the alloys, wont name names but this 'salesman' telling me FSH and the car had paintwork etc done needs sacking, wouldn't trust him to sell me a 50p lollipop let alone a car.

Only giving 1 star as can’t give zero. The salesman makes it sound like the best guarantee in the world and reading it it does sound great but just try and make a claim. The guarantee isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on. They say parts actually have to fail to be covered. On a service it was found the track rod end was worn to be an MOT failure but as the part itself didn’t actually fail, fixed it before to keep it maintained like you have too, it’s not covered. Shock absorber leaking not covered as again the part hasn’t failed. Seems the only way the guarantee might pay out is if the part fails car gets written off and they can then leave it to the insurance companies, so again no need to pay out. They rarely answer phones so faceless emails from people who basically say not my problem. Wouldn’t buy a car from them again if it was the best deal on the planet. Do yourself a favour go elsewhere and avoid these cheating cowboys

Unfortunately aftersales service is one of the worst service based in coventry. Sales manager Ashley Hyed is a very unprofessional and lazy. keep doing fack promises for avoiding complete job. Trying to resolve issues of my bought car with in 2 weeks of bought, but no really interested to respond and resolve issue. Can finish the job within 5 mins (just need to decision to aprove work) taking 2 weeks in a row but still not considering matter of time and urgency. No wonder why coventry branch is going to close.

I have just wasted £750 on an extended warranty for my vehicle, when help is needed, 15 unanswered phone calls suggest either the lines are unmanned or a deliberate policy not to settle any claims

You have to have your car serviced every 6 months at Evans halshall to fulfill the extended warranty small print.

On the 31 May I set off to Evans Hashaw York to look for a new car, on route I looked on the website and saw a car at Gainsborough Evans Halshaw that I liked the look of. Having a look around York we asked if they had anything similar. They didn’t and so we mentioned going to Gainsborough for it but were told that it could be transferred to York for £99 and that York do better point checks than Gainsborough would as they had higher standards. Why does Evans Halshaw allow this to happen, it seemed a bit bizarre as they are the same company and surely run from the same checks. However we were told york is a more affluent area than Gainsborough and so the standard is higher. Couldn’t quite believe what I was hearing. However I paid £99 for the transfer as York is closer to us than Gainsborough and was told it should be with them by Monday, and then they would do their checks, two weeks at the most before it could be released to me. One week later I called for an update the car was still at Gainsborough, 2 weeks later it had arrived that day but with 2 dents in the doors and front grills that needed to be ordered and replaced. At no point in the advertisement or when asking for the transfer were we made aware of this, the car had only done 7000 miles. Why did Gainsborough take 2 weeks to check the car then send it substandard. Why do Evans Halshaw allow this? As it would seem the York branch was well aware this does happen. So I was supposed to wait again for parts and fitting. At this point I lost faith in the company altogether and bought a car elsewhere that have standards across their sites and advertise appropriately, I think I had a lucky escape. Date of experience: 31 May 2024

Went to look at a car and wow what a state! car had two miss matched tyres on the rear when its a RWD car, parcel shelf was missing with the clips broken to even attach one too, alloys have clearly been touched up with a cheap pen off Ebay even though they told me they were sent off to a proper company, service history was described as full when its had only 4 services since new and its 9 years old, i just had enough and told them i'm not paying £11,000 for a car only worth £9,500 tops when its in a state like that because no doubt in a few months all that cheap touch up paint would come off, i would have to service the car myself for peace of mind, i would have to order a parcel shelf and replace the clips on the panels to even fit it and get two new tyres, only thing they offered to do was chuck some cheap autogreen tyres on it for what £100? so they can keep over £1,200 profit from doing literally nothing to it. If you really think Evans Halshaw salesmen are checking each vehicle you phone up for and do literally anything they say then more fool you, i will bet my last pound it won't be cleaned like they claim, won't be serviced like they claim, wont have hundreds of pounds spent on tyres and alloys like they claim, all they'll do is tell you they've done all this and chuck some touch up paint from Ebay on it that costs them £9.99.

Purchased a car from Evanshalshaw in Bury and the car broke down on our way home. My wife was driving with our three young children and all were very distressed. We were able to continue our journey home driving very carefully, amber engine light on all the way. Next day the car wouldn’t start so we called the AA who came recommending the car shouldn’t be driven and presented us with a lengthy fault report. I called the Evanshalshaw sales representative to have the car returned and was not called back or assisted in offered in anyway. I have since been calling to have the car collected and am being told I will have to pay, even though the car was not drivable and of um-merchantable quality. I’m am left waiting for a call back to resolve this situation.

Often the quality of a company is only on display when an issue arises, Salesmen very kind and polite when selling but uncaring and uncompromising if any issues arise. We purchased a larger car after the birth of our first child. Informed that the turbo had been replaced after purchasing so was really disappointed when issues arose a few months after buying with engine management lights which were according to a Seat specialist, likely linked to the turbo. The car also failed the MOT emissions test also after the first year.l, an issue I've never experienced. Contacted the branch we used and tried going through complaints as we were told initially there would be a warranty of 12 months for the replacement turbo. However, although the new turbo has collapsed after only 1 year and 9000 miles, no apology or offer of any kind to help rectify the issue. Told that someone would call back a few times and I naively waited and expected a call before having to call back to try and sort out. The seat specialist we spoke to were very surprised to hear a warranty of only 12 months for a new turbo and it makes you question the quality of the work completed. Both cars I've purchased in my life have been from Evans Halshaw but won't be using them in the future if this isn't rectified. I plan on going back through complaints to say that the issue hasn't been resolved through the local dealership we used to buy the car, but not holding my breath for any sort of support or apology but this is a lesson learned the hard way.

I bought a car from them two years ago, on the day they dropped it off i noticed the gearbox wasn't working properly, fast forward they took the car back and "fixed" the gearbox, just had to have a suspension part done on my car and the garage phoned to tell me my gearbox has so many bolts missing they advise i shouldn't drive it until they order some and fit them! So for two years i have been driving a car around on motorways and stuff and its had most of its bolts missing on the gearbox! they also informed me the gearbox isn't new and it looks like a second hand one, i couldn't believe it until they shown me! this has put massive stress on the remaining bolts so they need changing too and when i phoned them to make them aware even 2 years after they said it was down to me to check? so apparently everyone when buying a used car you need to take a car lift with you, lift the car up in the air, remove the undertrays, just to make sure your gearbox isn't missing all its bolts because their team are too incompetent to put the bolts back in they took out! how was i meant to know? with the undertrays on you can't see the gearbox so a MOT wouldn't pick this up either, i expect a garage contracted by EH or EH themselves to be able to put all the bolts back in a gearbox when putting it back on the car, i have been driving around for 2 years with a gearbox held on by i think 2 bolts? i have always heard a noise when accelerating harshly which i was told was normal but since all these bolts have been put in i no longer hear it.

Stay Away from Sunderland Evans Halshaw. I purchased a Nissan Leaf 2018 from Evans Halshaw on 18th March 2024. Shortly after, I discovered that the navigation system was not functioning. Despite trying new wires and contacting Nissan customer service, I received minimal assistance and was directed to the nearest Nissan service center. Upon taking the vehicle to the Evans Nissan service station, I was informed that the earliest available appointment was on 23rd April 2024. After the inspection, I was shocked to learn that I would need to pay £3000 to replace the entire system. This amounts to nearly half of the car's total cost, which primarily covers the entertainment system. I feel deceived, especially since the vehicle should have undergone a thorough check before being handed over to the customer. The delay in addressing the issue due to the lack of available appointments further exacerbated the situation. I really had bad experience with Evans for their unprofessional conduct and failure to promptly address the issue. I asked them that I would like to return the car or exchange it for a vehicle of equivalent value. Keeping this car is not feasible given the substantial cost of replacing the entire unit, and the issue was not disclosed at the time of purchase. But there was cold response from them as if they are not bothered. I am planning to take this to consumer court. I bought this car exchanging a good running car.

Want a bodged car? buy from Evans Halshaw! i bought a 2014 Focus from them 8 months ago, since owning it for EIGHT MONTHS i have had to replace the horn, boot struts, ford badges as they fell off, parcel shelve clips they fixed with tape, AC never worked and doesn't hold gas, two tyres, an advisory on a MOT magically disappeared on EH MOT but now needs doing 8 months later which is looking like a new steering rack, kit in boot for wheel isn't even right one for car and too small so good job i randomly checked this rather than just gone out getting a flat tyre to not be able to even change it myself! all wiper blades needed changing after 4 months as well, only thing EH did was chuck new discs and pads on it. Now after 8 months i decided to take the car to a mates garage for a service who informed me this car hasn't been serviced like they claimed and with how black the oil is he estimates its not been done for at least 30,000 miles and the oil filter was so seized on it had to be ripped off not screwed off and the air filter that's meant to be white is dark yellow looking like something off a tractor, all the belts need changing and the water pump which EH claims to have inspected and the previous owner had this all done which is not true, all paint they used to touch up the wheels came off after 4 months as well. So after 8 months i am left with a car i'll be lucky to get half my money back for because they lied and skipped out on jobs same for previous owners, i have had to spend almost £1,000 on this car so far just so it can keep going and function like it should! EH should be hold accountable for lies they say and are clearly not inspecting or having the seller prove anything before EH sell it, pretty sure if i took this car back to them and told them its had all belts done and serviced they'd just put my car up for sale and tell all people interested in it that this has been done without me even proving it, thanks to me this car is good to go for rest of its life but it concerns me how buckets like this are sold to a main dealer like EH then sold to members of public, want to buy a car from EH? have a mechanic inspect the vehicle for you and check EVERYTHING as nothing they claim is actually backed up by proof and you run the risk of buying a vehicle that's been doctored up for sale that will last maybe a year before it all starts showing and guess who has to pay for it. So to sum up i bought a Focus off them that has had to have almost £1,000 spending on it to keep it going, none of what they told me about the belts or service was true, right now the car is all done except needing a new suspension part and is a great car but like most cars nowadays they are neglected which i understand with buying used cars but when Evans Halshaw gets a car in they should be doing the bare minimum of actually servicing them and inspecting the belts and key elements and putting right the neglect that can have severe consequences because if i kept driving it the belts could have snapped causing severe engine damage or kept driving it with a steering rack that's been in need of replacing for well over a year, nobody cares anymore and just thinks meh that can be the next owners problem, if people just had things done when required cars would last for hundreds of thousands of miles and you could ask a higher price for it, instead you've got cars like this with only 70k miles ready for scrapyard unless someone saves them instead of just selling it on and on until it does break or cause a accident, now that the car is done its a great car and i can't fault it one bit but would i buy another car from EH? no i wouldn't because i know for a fact someone could take a complete bucket to them and they'd still sell it me and you only have to look on Youtube to see the death traps EH has been putting out on the road.

Saw the car and on inspection there were no scratches apart from the stone chips on the number. I bought the car and cams to collect a 4 days later and again on inspection, no scratches on the bonnet and door frames. Took it for a hand car wash as I know the automatic car washes can scuff and scratch the paint work. And when i bought it home i uncovered numerous large scratches on the bonnet and door frames. By the way after i bought the car I did not drive it and it was parked in the garage. It seems Evan Halshaw touched the car up to hide the scratches and which were uncovered on first wash. This was evidently deceiving and dishonest which i don't expect from a forecourt especially when you’re paying over £17k for a car.

Evans Halshaw Wigan. I came away after being sold a 'cast iron, gold plated' warranty on the car...without any paperwork...yes, I know its partly my fault. I have tried to get a posted copy and failed...many times. Complained to Customer Services - pointless...still not got it. I have changed the reg of the car...tried to find out if I need to inform (a) warranty company and (b) breakdown company...and get no reply! I told them the car will be going on a European road trip soon and I need the paperwork and details on how to claim (if I need to) and guess what...no reply. Horrendous company to deal with.
