Hi Caron, We're very sorry to hear you were unhappy with our sample kit materials. We would love to learn what your intended use-case was as well as what you may not like about the product. While these products are built to be robust, they are widely used in both commercial spaces as well as residential. Our products are built to be strong, flexible, and stand the test of time so that our customers can be confident they won't need to purchase a replacement product for a long time. Our kits typically include 3 different thicknesses, which has an affect on flexibility, so we are unsure which material you may be discussing. It's also important to mention that the samples you received are much smaller than most full-sized products, so physically, they will behave a little differently. Because of this, the product will be a little firmer than a larger mat. However, we do understand that our product may not be for everyone and we we appreciate your feedback! We'll be sure to pass it along.

Please know that we have forwarded your valued feedback to our Leadership Team. That said, it does look like we reached out to you a few times, but were, unfortunately, unable to reach you, so we wanted to ensure we address your concerns here, regarding the product not laying flat. Most of our larger products do arrive in the box rolled up. Typically, they lay flat pretty quickly but things like temperature variances can have some affect on the speed at which the product unrolls. That said, we have a number of suggestions on our website (FAQs) as to how to make some of the more stubborn mats (this can very much depend on the temperatures it's being subjected to in transit) flatten, from their rolled up position in transit, more quickly. “I tripled checked the measurements I sent them, the bag didn't fit perfectly. It's a shame because it's very good quality abd looks very nice but it's not a perfect fit. I thought maybe my measurements weren't exact but they were. Not sure what happened. The product quality is very good though.”

“Liked the fact that the mat was clear. Was cut a quarter inch too long and now the ends from being rolled up for packaging won't lay flat, despite trying to heat it to flatten it. Could have been nice, but not quite what I expected. I may have to start over to resurface my tabletop and wasted a bit of money.”

“For the most part I was very happy with the product I received, the material and the way it looks on my table was exactly what I wanted. However the measurements weren’t exactly exact. I painstakingly measured to make sure I was 100% correct in my order and then the mat was about a half an inch too long and hung off the end of the table. I ended up having to trim it myself with a blade which wasn’t easy and isn’t perfect. My mom also recently ordered one because she liked the look and hers was also not exact. Where mine had too much length, hers was missing width. I wanted to order more now I’m reconsidering because of these two mishaps. I really like the look and how easy it was to order and the price, but if my ExactMats aren’t exact, then what’s the point.”

We're so sorry to hear your Lucid mats did not fit properly. That's definitely not typical and something we normally would love to assist with. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you reached out to our Support Team for assistance before leaving this review, so we were unaware of the issue. This is something we absolutely would have liked to have helped with, but since we did not hear about the issue until this review, and the mat has been adjusted/trimmed, we are unable to diagnose the issue. That said, this product is meant to protect surfaces, so if you are seeing scratches, it actually gives you a good idea of how it's protecting. :) ie: without the protector, the surface itself may have scratches in it. “The crystal mat looks nice on a glossy table top until it starts to settle. Then it sticks to the tabletop, but not evenly, so it has the effect of making blotches of "stuck" patches. The rounded corners are barely rounded. If you have the chance, custom-make the corners. Once the mat is received, you cannot return it for alterations. The best you can do is order another and get a discount.”

That said, looking at your order, it looks like you selected Crystal as your finish type and that you are using it on a glossy surface. However, Crystal is only recommended for use on non-glossy surfaces. This is because, due to the chemical qualities of vinyl, which truly wants to lay as flat as possible, Crystal tends to cling to glossy, flat surfaces tightly enough to cause air bubbles to be trapped between the surface and mat. This is why you are seeing what we call clinging. Regarding returns - we do offer returns on standard products, but due to the nature of custom-made items, we do not offer returns on custom products. However, in cases where our customers are unhappy with their mat and would like to re-place it with different customization options (such as finish and corner radius), we offer 25% off. It looks like we sent you this offer, so when you would like to re-place your order with a more appropriate finish type for your surface, just let us know so that we may apply 25% off to your order. “While they look great, if you are using them under a desk chair, they move all the time. They slide around. I'm constantly trying to adjust for bumps that develop. And I am up and down a LOT. So if the application is the floor, under a chair, which is shown on the website, these may not be a good answer. Not sure how it can be remedied. They look GREAT. But the specific use is not great. Customer service was wonderful in helping resolve the issue. We ended up moving the mats to other areas that didn't get as much "rolling chair" action.”

The mat finish you selected will not work on carpeting, for instance. We have another product made for this.That said, it looks like you may have opted to keep the mat, so we hope you're enjoying it! “These mats are a nice step up from using outdoor tablecloths under my cloth tablecloths to protect my dining room table and buffet, but I am disappointed that the creases from being rolled (or maybe at one point they were folded?) remain on both the large and small mats I purchased, despite trying the hair dryer trick and placing heavy books on the folds. If you are looking for a glass-look, this isn't the answer.”

Reviewing your Support Ticket, it looks like we reached out to assist and offered to make some tweaks to your mats but you preferred to keep the existing mats. That said, based on the photos you sent, the mats look like they do fit really well! Just to clarify, our mats are meant to either replace your existing mats (replacement), or go over your existing mats (overlay), so they are made to a specific shape/size that most closely matches the area you are looking to protect. If they are made too large or too small, the coverage would change, but they wouldn't fit as well or look as nice.
