I found the site a little awkward to use, I think it would be better too if the specialist subjects taught by teachers came up first in alphabetical order, lots of the teacher's were offering to teach lot's of different subjects, apart from that I found what I needed first time.

I thought the site was a little confusing & it would help if you could choose a couple of subjects at the one time to isolate a tutor who can provide grinds in both.

It would be nice to be able to actually speak to the tutor on the phone before booking them, as it was I had to rely on other people's feedback which isn't the same as actually speaking to someone. I was so desperate for a tutor that I've had to take a gamble - which I hope will work out. I appreciate that it would be difficult to guarantee that people would be honest enough to pay if they had instructed the tutor but nothing beats a actual conversation with a person. Perhaps a halfway house would be a video of the tutor talking about their approach to tutoring and giving examples of what styles they use to tutor

First Tutors was quick and I was really pleased to be able to find who I needed. Some of the instructions can seem a bit vague at the start and they only become obvious afterwards and I'm still not sure what the time limit thing was. However, I did find the descriptions and the reference for tutors really good and they allowed me to narrow down my search quickly to the people I wanted to try.

Took a while to get the hang of the website, especially the "releasing details" button. But other than that excellent service, reassuring that tutors are checked by company - especially helpful to see other students comments about tutor. Had many offers of help, was able to sift and find the most suitable tutor and so far all going well.

I found First tutor through Google. There seemed to be a good amount of local tutors to choose from and I liked the fact they they had been reviewed and had been reference checked. I chose one tutor to contact and that process went well. I had to pay a £20 finder’s fee (amount can change dependant on tutor) which seemed a little steep but I guess the process was pretty easy and saved me a lot of time so not so bad.

Surprisingly straightforward and simple to find local tutors in relevant subjects. I like the concise information displayed about each and the photos as well as the reassurance that vetting/identity checks have been made. The contact process has worked well for me, with all potential tutors responding quickly to my enquiry. My Y11 son has now had two sessions with separate tutors on different subjects and both have gone well with tutors being capable, prepared and approachable. A good start.
