“Ive had to throw the hydrangea away as it was of such poor quality. The acer I received was hideously over priced too for such a small stalk. Very disappointed with the company to allow this.”

“Shocking service... shocking plant quality ... shocking delivery times ... definitely not ‘express’ It is reassuring to see that my experience is so similar to others here. This plant arrived damaged and cost £15. It looked nothing like those in the pictures or like what I would expect to buy at a garden centre.”

“Long delays, plants arrived dried up, plants not as shown in the photo but worst of all, zero customer service. Their ‘chat’ facility is a joke! Minimum 40 mins wait. One day they posted it will be 2 hours to connect to a member of staff. I wrote a fair but negative review, but they’ve not posted it.”

“Not worthy of even 1 star, after 10 working days still no change in my order status - still shows processing. Contacted them to ask for a cancellation of my order and refund BUT they will not oblige and say I must wait until goods received and then return to them (even though goods are still with them) - they will then retain 25% of monies!, THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY.”

“I too wish I'd read the reviews before wasting money with Gardening Express. The teaser is the 3-5 days, delivery. On chasing, they'll point you to the website banner (now removed) suggesting it might take 7 days - and a further chase will elicit a reminder that their terms state 15 days - now amended to 28 working days. Perhaps, when they take an order, they don't have the stock and then source it to meet demand?”

“Like so many other reviewers, my experience with Gardening Express has been terrible! When I ordered a plant, their website clearly stated delivery in 3-5 days. I was then told that deliveries could take up to 15 working days. That time has been and gone and I still don’t have my plant. Gardening Express now tell me it could take longer than 15 days?? They just keep moving the goalposts! I don’t believe the plant I ordered is even in stock anymore. Customer service is non existent and they remove bad reviews from their Facebook page. They also refuse to cancel the order and provide a refund! AVOID!”

“I wish I had read reviews before ordering from Gardening Express. The tree i bought is a half dead twig. Their customer support is non-existent. I am angry and very disappointed and would never buy from them again.”

“Avoid - 3 items ordered, all "in stock " One item still not delivered one month later, one dead twig delivered, and one decent plant Still waiting for a reply to my support tickets, and online chat is up to an hour so far and counting...”

“3 acers ordered . 1 acer and 2 'twigs' delivered ..... their stock looks like its taken from decent garden centres skip ... wish I had read the reviews before using them ... avoid them”

“Ordered a topiary tree £39.nothing like the picture it’s just a few branches on a long thin stem . Would never buy from them again I’m disgusted with what I received I could have bought for £5 in Homebase”

“I ordered plants from this company on 10 May. The money was immediately taken out of my charge card account. Today, on 23 May, the plants have still not arrived. All I have received is a standard message thanking me for my ‘patience’. This is the worst service I have ever received from an online company. If a zero rating were available, I would give it. Avoid.”

“I would give Gardening Express no stars at all if that were possible. Ordered 2 plants at a total cost of £45. One barely had leaves on it, the other was not as described and not worth the money spent on it. They don't reply to emails, don't have a telephone number, and have a ticket system that doesn't work. Tried chat on a number of occasions and gave up after an hour of waiting. After over 2 weeks I eventually got through to someone on chat who refused to acknowledge any issue with the plants, despite making me take further photographs. I can return them AT MY EXPENSE if I'm not happy!! Absolutely appalling service, will never, ever use again.”

“I ordered an acer from Gardening express at a cost of £28.95 plus postage of £5.95. This item was brought as a present and was given still in its original packaging. When i saw this plant i was very embarrassed and disappointed. For the price i was expecting a far better specimen. I have spent the last three weeks trying to contact Gardening Express, their online chat is a joke you wait hours to connect and then told closed for the day. I tried completing the online form which has taken two weeks for anyone to come back to me. They asked for more pictures. Another week has gone by not heard anything. I took the plant back from my friend and replaced it with a far superior plant for £20.00. I have tried to return the plant but the cost of return postage would be £12.95. I have given 1 star however if i could have given zero i would have i feel very let down and out of pocket. Shame on you Gardening Express for such poor customer service and value for money”

“My tri colour hibiscus extra large. Arrived late and was a 3 feet tall dry twig in a box. Not the healthy 5.5 feet as described in the sales pitch. I guess I should have taken note of the many bad reviews before I purchased. It’s terrible value and I will not be using this company again. You are getting money for nothing. Shocking.”

“This has to be the worst service I have ever received online. I ordered 4 plants and bulbs. 2 out of 4 items received a month later. Other 2 out of stock. Not delivered within 10 days max as mentioned. Now I can't even talk to anyone about this. I normally have the patience of a Saint. But they are very very infuriating. Very disappointed and wished I'd read the reviews first.”
