“I would give zero stars if I could. Ordered plants, no sign of them being delivered, impossible to contact the company, just a series of automated emails. No plants, no contact, no way of getting my money back. AVOID, AVOID!!!!!”

“If I could give them zero stars I would, I am forced to give them one star. AVOID AVOID AVOID! they have taken our money, over £2000 it’s been over a month and no sign of our plants ever getting delivered. Don’t answer emails and they don’t have a phone number. Absolute con artists. I have reported them to the bank!”

“Brought 2 French lavender lollipop trees they arrived sad and all black on the bottom I thought maybe they were in shock but they're just dying. Contacted the company and basically he said tough luck. Seems they can send any plant to you whether in good condition or not and get away with it I would not recommend this company and I will never use them again”

“Waited for longer than expected for delivery and then a huge disappointment. Shrub looked terminally ill, dehydrated and missing about one-third of its leaves! Tragic! It was an expensive purchase that didn’t live up to the marketing hype. Customer Services don’t know the meaning of the 2 words! I have asked for a refund and now I am being ignored. This company is dishonest and the guarantee is worthless. I so wish I had read the reviews prior to parting with my money!”

“Disease plant arrived, was told a replacement would be sent then account credited- then, weeks later the roses I purchased were totally wrong, colour and specimen. Think this company works like a floral ‘Amazon’ and depend on nurseries sending plants out, whether healthy/ diseased or not what you ordered at all. Pay a bit more and go elsewhere.”

“Avoid. Broken plant delivered from poor transit. This happens I get that, but the follow up customer service was severely lacking and almost rude. Lost a customer for the sake of a refund or replacement.”

“1 star as zero not available. This company still owes me 2 of the 3 bamboo plants i ordered, value £80. I think Small Claims will be my next option as they are not returing any of my multiple requests for help or refund. DO NOT USE, disgraceful company.”

“Having placed an order on 21st May I have neither received any plants or any communication except auto generated responses which don’t answer my questions. In the end I decided to cancel my order, but there is no system for doing this. So no plants, no communication and no money.”

“Dead or dying plants arrived one month after placing my order. Despite sending photos immediately and saying the soil is damp, I've been told to water.them and they will revive. Well they haven't. They're all dead now. To send back I must pay for postage and return them in the original packaging, having been told originally that photos must be taken without packaging. To get plants out of packaging you must cut the packaging hence no original intact packaging to send plants back in. It's a con. Don't buy from these people.”

“I ordered a Buddleia Davidii in early April, paying extra for a more established plant to replace one we lost in the Winter storms. Choosing Gardening Express was my first big mistake. It took Gardening Express until the very end of May to finally deliver the order, after the first one was lost by the parcel handler two weeks before. The communication from Gardening Express was pathetic throughout and it always took me chasing them to get any information and even when they did finally respond, it was clear they simply didn't care. Eventually, they offered a refund or replacement for the lost plant, and as the plant was still needed, I opted for replacement. That was my second big mistake. The plant delivered should never have been despatched as it was in a horrendous condition; badly wilted and covered in diseased leaves. I contacted Gardening Express to complain, attaching several photos of the plant so they could see what had been sent. My complaint included a request a refund. In true form, Gardening Express have totally ignored my contact and I've been left feeling totally ripped off. Given the level of competition out there, it surprises me the total lack of care or commitment to giving good service shown by Gardening Express. I would recommend anyone to avoid them like the plague and shop elsewhere.”

“I ordered £40.97 worth of plants with delivery charge all paid for on 23/4/25 and have never received my order. My numerous attempts to contact them resulted in being told my emails etc were only put into spam and to stop writing. I to this date have no answer and no goods and no refund.”

“I never complain about anything, but this company is terrible. Long delay from ordering to arrival, plants all very poor, nothing like what was advertised and look half dead - never ordering with this company again. Avoid - don’t waste your money - go to your local nursery.”

“SHATTERED ELUSION! I have had my confidence in this company shattered. I’ve ordered, over a period of time, plants and shrubs where the quality has been good. However, my recent purchase of a special offer of three Acers at a discount price was a big mistake. One of the Acers was almost dead., it now is! The ‘deal’ cost me £40+ ( including postage)….I have contacted the company who have responded twice, one auto conversation and one direct with the company. I was asked to send photographs (which I did) and, now, nothing! I have tried, several times, to get a response, NOTHING! I shan’t deal with this company again. Actually, I’ve found plants, trees and shrubs cheaper at my local nursery and I can ‘see’ what I’m buying. Be aware!”

“I ordered three bare root birch trees last autumn. It’s now May and still no sign of life. Completely dead. Sent photos and asked for refund in line with their ‘five year no quibble guarantee’. Told to check again to see if trees were alive. Then told to return at my expense. I have zero faith in actually getting my money back. I think Trading Standards need to investigate this company.”

“Ordered 10 established and diverse garden plants on offer for £29 they state should have been £79 they arrived in a terrible state not established and not what I would consider diverse one of the plants they sell on there website for £1.00 3 of the plants are all the same I contacted there customer service I got a initial reply asking for photos of which I sent and then absolutely nothing I would not recommend anyone to use this company”

“I order and paid for plants 1st May. They arrived 16th of May. Box crushed, plants damaged and some dead. Customer service very poor. Spend your money with a different online company. There was nothing express about my order. I sent photos but their only response was to ask for more. Still waiting for a reply.”

“1 star – Unacceptable delay and poor communication I placed an order with Garden Express on the 5th of May and, as of today (over 16 working days later), I have still not received a clear update or my delivery. The tracking information has remained vague and unhelpful throughout, and I have no idea whether the order is even on its way. What’s most disappointing is the lack of proper customer support. Despite multiple follow-ups, I’ve received no meaningful response—just generic messages with no real resolution. For a company that deals in time-sensitive items like plants, this level of service is simply unacceptable. I’ve now had to demand either a full refund or a guaranteed delivery within 24 hours, and have asked for the matter to be escalated to a supervisor. This has been a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. I would not recommend Garden Express to anyone”
