Dead rose, ignored emails, failed guarantee I ordered a bare-root rose from Gardening Express earlier this year, which completely failed to grow and is now clearly dead. It was supposed to be covered under their Bare Root Guarantee until the end of July. I followed all the proper care steps and provided photo evidence, but after initially responding, they stopped replying to my emails altogether. I've now contacted them multiple times with no resolution. The plant was only £20, but it’s the principle — if they don’t honour their guarantee or respond to customers, how can they be trusted?

1 star is too generous. I will start by saying I've ordered previously and received dwarf fruit trees that are thriving. This was my second order, volcanic tree ferns, despite waiting a good while for delivery, once delivered I was to overlook that. Unfortunately on opening my order it was immediately apparent the ferns were in terrible condition. Despite the soil they were in being very damp the ferns were brown (should be red) crispy and quite obviously dead. I immediately raised a refund/replacement request but still haven't had a response. I re-potted on the advice of the website but my initial instincts were right they are beyond bringing back to life. I can't help thinking the fact the soil was quite wet, they were like this when dispatched?? If you do place an order and need to contact them for any reason, don't expect a response

Placed an order for three items. The delivery took weeks and when the order arrived one item clearly had extensive leaf blotch virus. I emailed with pictures and got a very quick repainse saying I needed to take further images in a specific way. Which I did. I was then completely ignored. I have sent maybe 5 emails and its been about 2 months and still I am completely ignored. Shocking customer service and a company selling plants with virus. Yes They're very cheap. But this is why.

I placed an order on Gardening Express. Now it’s been 22 working days (excluding weekends and bank holiday), and I still haven’t received any dispatch updates. Worse yet, after waiting more than 15 working days, all of my emails and messages to Gardening Express went completely unanswered. - *No Dispatch*: Despite their promise of a “reasonable delivery time,” no goods were ever sent. - *Zero Communication*: Repeated attempts to contact customer service have been met with total silence. - *Broken Promises*: They clearly violate the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (sections 55–56) by neither shipping the products nor refunding my money. **Buyer Beware**: If you value your money, time, and peace of mind, steer well clear of Gardening Express. Their website may look ok, but their service is an outright farce.

I have ordered several times with a good experience last year (2024) - however - 2 items this year - plum tree and rose hedging - have not grown and despite 3 emails and a complaint - claiming on the ‘bare root’ guarantee- I have received no response after completing the bark test as requested - which showed them to be dead …. No replacement or refund is forthcoming for these items. Sadly I won’t be ordering from them again.

Awful company. Do not order from them. Do not reply to their queries on their system. Ordered 21 June and I have heard nothing from them. Most plants will now not be in flower. Impossible to get money back.

I’ve ordered from Gardening Express previously without any issues, but that changed with my recent order. I bought 2 dwarf nectarines (almost £50), but when they arrived they were riddled with Peach Leaf Curl. I raised an issue on their website, sent them all the requested photos of the plants and dispatch notes, then … nothing. I emailed the photos again, I sent the photos again via their website (including the issue reference no), emailed them over and over again asking what was happening .., still nothing. They seem to think that by ignoring me, the problem will go away - WRONG!!! I’m now considering taking them to the Small Claims court to get my money back. So if anyone was thinking of purchasing from them. DON’T DO IT!!!

Disgraceful company! Rec'd my order nearly 4 weeks from order. Emailed several times, but they don't answer. Two plants were dead. Emailed on receipt of order with photos. Emailed them about price discrepancy, but again no reply. THEY DON'T ANSWER EMAILS. Will be reporting to Trading Standards. They are no better than a scam. Avoid at all costs.

Rose tree arrived dead. Horrendous customer service. Rip off merchants. They do not reply. Avoid. Visit actual plant nursery's and garden centres in person. I am so angry as the rose was a gift for my parents Ruby wedding anniversary. Gardening Express have ignored my elderly fathers polite messages. What a disgrace. I repeat the rose arrived DEAD.

I would strongly recommend not ordering from Gardening Express. I placed my order on 24 May. I've since had 3 deliveries - the first coming 34 days after the order was placed. The second delivery (36 days after order) included a packing slip with more items ticked off than what I received so I'm pretty sure I won't get the full order. The final delivery arrived 44 days after order. There is zero communication from the Company and no way to get hold of them. In the interest of balance the quality of the plants was good.

Plants were dead or dying, ones advertised as being 'in bloom' were not - and my efforts to receive a refund have been ignored. It's no wonder this company has no phone number - they don't want to deal with customers. They made should have been the pleasant experience of buying plants into something sad. And I'm out of pocket. Truly appalling.

I would say everything went wrong with my order from this company. Ordered plants on 6th June, received them on 5th July. Poor response from customer service when enquired about the delay. Half of the plants were dead on receipt, not just damaged in transit. The Lupins which would have been in season when ordered had been chopped back to sticks! The larger one had leaves but was barely alive. If they had been in a garden centre they would have been given away for free or disposed off. I don't know how they had the check to even bother packaging them to send! The only part of the order that was in reasonable condition was the small hedging plants. The Hellebore were in poor health but appear to be alive. Have requested a refund on the dead plants but have little faith in getting a response! If you ordered clothes and they arrived in tatters and unwearable you would get a refund!!! OVERALL DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY MAINLY SELL DEAD PLANTS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS NON EXISTENT!!!

They ask for 15 working days to deliver where other companies such as Thompson and Morgan and Dobbies can do it in a few days. Ive since asked my bank and mastercard to reverse the transaction. I should have done my research before I placed the order. Their feedback from other customers is awful.

Very disappointed with this company Will never ever use them again. Delivery takes far too long you have to keep chasing all the time. We ordered a smoke bush described as a large plant costing £39 it arrived today it was very small could have gone locally and picked one up for half the price, very disappointed feel very annoyed told everyone one I know don’t buy anything from them. I ordered on the 9th June. 3 weeks later the plants have still not been despatched. contacted Garden Express on several occasions but have had no reply. Would not buy from them again !
