Being a cheap insurance I decided I would go with them, I'm in my second year with them now because I couldn't afford to switch. Generally when you get on the phone to them they are all very polite and helpful but it takes a very long time to get through to them, a very...very long time. Just be prepared to hear "Thank you for holding, we are talking to other Carrot Customers right now but we'll be with you as soon as we can" As I'm writing this I am trying to get through to them on the phone and the repetition is sending me clinically insane.

takes 45 minutes each time to wait on the phone to speak to someone and at least 2 days for an email reply??

Started off great, however the company who is in charge of fitting the tracker almost made me loose my policy with in the first to weeks of having it as they couldn't 'find me' at work. That was the start, then for about 4 months I was fine, only issue was that the heavily penalise you driving late, an issue for me as I worked as a waiter. Then I started getting ghost journeys on my tracker, some lasting up to 4 hours and actually giving me a score as if I was driving the car. I know I wasn't as I was on the other side of the country at the time with the only key to open and run my car. This became even more frustrating when I called carrot, after spending 30 minutes on hold when I finally got through to an operator I was told that this was an issue they could do nothing about and were unable to help me in anyway. My last issue with Carrot is their customer care is appalling. To contact them to top up miles it cost you £35 just for ringing, which if your in a hurry won't be something that is going to happen as the shortest time I've personally been on hold is 25 minutes the longest be 40. The one good thing about them is that the miles cost less when you drive well, something I was good at fortunately so the actual miles are fairly cheep to top up, just that rather annoying £35 pound calling fee. Will never insure anything with Carrot again as I feel like if I did have an accident they would take years to pay out and sort anything. This is a company purely focused on making money, don't be fooled by their cash back scheme (something that also take a long time to make it's way on to your pre paid carrot card).

Would have more success trying to phone the pope than Carrot. Every call results in a waiting time of at least 15 minutes before anyone answers. Why not email chat@carrotinsurance.com? Because despite the automated response saying they will respond in 2 days they don't or on the occassions they do they respond by saying call them, so back to square one. When my son advised Carrot he was changing address, they simply cancelled his policy and took £150 out of his repayment. They must pay their staff well if it costs them that much to cancel a policy.

The worst company ever! They just scam people out of money... took deposit said they sent a starter pack and havent recieved the requested forms back. Have recieved nothing its all lies so I call to explain after a threat to cancely my policy after 23 days... rude lady in phone said it was tough luck they are cancelling ! No pack so now I have no insurance and they taken £333 deposit abd £139 for 23 days cover !!!! Watchdog will be investigation these scammers !!!! Stay away from them

Mostly I've had no problems, it was cheap insurance and my box was fitted fine. I got really got scores for ages and received my quarterly reward. However I got a notice saying I was speeding doing 31mph in a 20 zone. I do realise this is speeding but considering I'd had perfect scores and this was recorded in the quarter they paid me back for good driving it just seems a bit silly.

Absolutely worst service ever carrot ins are theives.my daughters renewal was due 28 Feb I phoned up to cancel as renewal was silly price .Today I got letter to Sa carrott have cancelled policy due to speeding . How appropriate said they sent me letters and emails.lying cheats that's all I can say don't give young ones a chance I would tell anyone not to use .

Recently just left Carrot after a single year. My renewal quote was ridiculous. My first year policy cost £1400 for 8,000 miles. I topped up 2000 for an added £200 in the middle of my policy. Towards the end I ran out effectively to add a few hundred just to tick me over. Over 120 for a mere 300 miles. I was already quite upset. But the renewal 'invitation' was upsetting. For 8000 miles I was quoted £1950. Somehow after one year driving with a decent score, my policy price has soared. Especially when you compare it to direct line which just cost me £1150. Thats with 10,000 miles. - THIS COST IS NOT THE WORST THING REGARDING CARROT - 1. Their black box - It works well, and I had no problems with it. Except one speeding warning. Which I took on the chin. You get penalised for everything and it's never consistent. Speed works very well. Smoothness, well thats a different story. I can drive to the max of my little 1.25 on a twisty road and get Smoothness of 10/10 however as soon as you drive around looking for a space in Tesco it goes straight to minus. The worst is Time. When I purchased my policy and selected, Social, Domestic and Commuting. i never thought I'd be penalised every day for driving at peak times. You get penalised for driving at morning, at noon, the evening rush, and at night. Its ridiculous really. Planning a motorway journey? Kiss your rewards goodbye. Apparently driving 50 miles on one without stopping is dangerous to them. You completely loose your freedom if you want to receive the 'brilliant' rewards. If its cheap, then go for Carrot. However other Telematics based insurers offer much better deals regarding freedom. I received around £40 in the year on my card due to how I use my car. Furthermore I didn't appreciate the 45 minute wait on the phone to tell you I was not accepting my renewal.

Carrot insurance is a great and affordable insurance for young drivers. I was very happy with the prices I was quoted. One of the staff was very helpful, because he helped me to get the best price by assessing when my birthday is etc. I'm in my second year now with carrot. The box really makes a difference to my driving. I also like the fact that there are rewards given out for driving safely! The only complaint I have is extremely long phone call waiting times.. please improve this!

They don't care about the customers. I've tried to contact them at the number provided, I've been waiting for ages and still no one answered. By far the worse insurance provider ever!

They missed 2 blackbox appointments. They never showed up and then blamed me for picking up my phone when the engineer should have knocked on the door. They made excuses for the lazy engineers working for them. They expected me to give the same information e.g. my phone number etc not only to their company but also the black box company.

They have been very helpful and all staff on the phone have been great. There was a miss understanding at first in regards to sending off of my documents but after a phone call it was all sorted. They let you earn cash back rewards for driving which is great, I earned about £30 on my first quarterly reward such was nice. I have never had any problems within the last 6 months of being insured with them as a new driver. As well as this they haven't charged a ridiculous anounr of money for my monthly payments, works out about £1200 for the whole year which for a new driver is great! They fitted my black box in a time that suited me and a place that worked best for me. I highly recommend Carrot, great insurance, no restrictions on my policy, cash back and super helpful staff! Perfect for us new drivers!

In terms of gaining rewards carrot is pretty good as being a student myself the extra bit of cash is helpful. I havent had any really bad experiences yet and ive had my policy since October. The only negative i have is that the app is all over the place with u reliable readings on your driving.
