Overall not brilliant customer service, long waits on the phone to get through to anyone. Also threatened to cancel my incsurance for not have a box fitted when it was already fitted. Then had to wait for 4 more days in order to use my app/ dashboard because I wasn't a recognised user.

Great that insurance isn't too expensive. My drivers app has stopped working today, the call centre closes at 6 which is ridiculous! The readings are so confusing, for the whole week you'll be in the green and then the last few days they will mark you down and so you end up in the orange. Even the red on one occasion when I hadn't even driven my car! The call centre staff have been completely unhelpful, one saying they don't know what's wrong with the app but bear with it! I can't afford to have my policy cancelled. Would not recommend this company at all!

All went well at the start, documents sent, box installed hey presto I’m on the road ! After just a week the APP stopped updating – several calls & e mails to the support department for help – 4 weeks later still the box isn’t working. Not a problem as such but how will they work out the rewards ??? Reading some of the other reviews I was not aware of any night time curfew – I’m sure I read something before taking out the policy that there was no restriction. Customer service could be improved significantly There should also be an agreement that whoever is paying for the insurance (normally the parent as it cost so much for new drivers) should be allowed to discuss any concerns with the company.

my son has a policy with you and we have had constant problems from day one which is down to lack of communication on your behalf . I myself work in car insurance and have had so much stress of recent due to your agents sending wrong docs , emailing me with threats of canceling the policy due to documents required when we;ve already sent. constantly having to ring you in my lunch breaks at work because of silly errors which have been constant not only is this my time but money too my phone bills are horrendous having to keep calling you . The hours your open are ridiculous we have to work shifts which revolve around a pattern 8am to 9pm also full days Saturdays and Sundays to a rota , this is a way forward for you . something has to be sorted to make Carrot a name to remember.

Worst insurance company having the worst experience!!! Black box sending wrong information all the time!! Haven't even received my reward yet!! Don't go with the company gives you a lot of headache!!

I've had problems with the insurer from the get go! My box had to be replaced as the didnt fit it properly... It then wasn't switched on for a week. The readings it was giving off were ridiculous for example reading that I had been driving from 18:00 (the time I get home from work) to 07:30 (the time I leave for work). And then to top it all off after my first quarter my dash read I would be awarded around £40... However when it came to the day I was awarded nothing and was told I wasn't getting anything either. I disputed and after 3 weeks am still waiting for a response. The only reason I didn't give one star is because the price of the insurance was very affordable for me.

Absolutely shocking so far, and I've only had my policy for a month. Signing up after obtaining a quote from 3rd party was the only simple part. I took out my policy just before Christmas and was told the earliest they could fit the iBox was the 4th of January. I took the day off and sat in all day, no phone call, no text, nothing at all. The guy then came out the next day, on the 5th whilst I was out. Received a car through the door, called the company and explained that one of us had been mis-informed by Carrot. They then re-scheduled for today, the 13th, stating that if it wasn't installed today, Carrot would cancel my policy as it's a month without having the iBox installed (through absolutely no fault of my own). I explained to them on the phone that I'll be at a different address this time, gave them all of the details and the appointment was arranged. The same guy then went back to the old address this morning, called me to let me know that I'd missed the appointment. I got on to his company again and explained, they said they would check the previous call recording from our last conversation to make sure they hadn't got it wrong and would then call me back. They called me back saying they "couldn't find" the call recording, how typical. They then sent another engineer today to the correct address (after making out like they were doing me a favour, I might add). He came, took pictures of the car, and made claims that he couldn't install the box as the spoiler, rear lights, brake pads and possibly the exhaust all looked to be "modified". I'm currently awaiting some kind of call from Carrot to find out if my policy is going to be affected by this. So far, would definitely not recommend, not worth the hassle at all.

Customer service was helpful, when responded to, at the beginning of my policy carrot were very helpful in communicating when I asked questions via email. However, after the first quarter I was supposed to receive £50, this was all well and good until well over a month after I was supposed to receive this money, I am currently still waiting for my first quarter payment.

Firstly, I am not happy with the service of carrot. I called up 4 times to ask about when I would be receiving my first quarter bonus and was told every time to wait a little longer and then to call up again if the carrot card hasn't arrived. Now it has been over a month and no one is helping me at all, all I hear is to wait so many days and then call back. This situation is really upsetting as promises are being constantly broken. Secondly, the usage of the driving score is very poor because most of the time I can't achieve 10/10 as I drive "too many short journeys" or "too many long journeys" which is just ridiculous as carrot think that it may "cause accidents".

The black box is recording journeys that are not being made. You have been and changed the black box, it was ok for a few days, it is doing the same thing again. Not impressed at all as no one has been in touch to confirm they have taken off the incorrect journeys which have affected my son's scoring and money due back as well as clocking up miles he hasn't done.

The insurance is cheap, the rewards are great, HOWEVER, it is like they give you bad scores just to bring down the 'reward' that you will receive on your carrot card. For example, for a few weeks I received a score of +10 consecutively for a few weeks, followed by consistent +4's with speed +10, usage +10 and smoothness -10. Despite me not driving ANY different, this score was inconsistent with my driving and even if I always drive the same and complete good braking distance/not harsh acceleration etc. the score does not usually reflect this which is very frustrating. This is really the only problem but for me is a big problem and lowers my motivation to drive 'carefully' (although I always do despite poor scores here and there. If carrot could give consistent scores that are compatible with the way you drive I would give a 'very good' star stars without a doubt, however this is not the case and as a result I leave a 'poor' star.

I rang customer services about a problem I have been having with the smartbox. guy said he would speak to the technicians and ring me back a few hours later in the day. 2 weeks later im still sitting without a phonecall, a voicemail or email. RUBBISH CUSTOMER SERVICE

Definitely not something I would recommend, I read there was no curfew and night driving or driving bad doesn't effect you, but you get monitored and scored like a child and insurance can rise apparently

The box is inaccurate and said I drove 5000 in 3 months it keeps dropping my score for going to and from work at 9am and back at 5.30 pm if I go to shop at 7.30pm it gives me a bad score for usage and it keeps saying I'm speeding on motorways when I am driving at 60 mph it must be faulty

Cheap at first but when your mileage needs topping up its wayyyyy to expensive. Would of rather gone with an insurer without a box works out the same price after top up miles! Also the box can be inaccurate with your driving score.

The insurance is cheap in some ways but I can't help but feel exploited they say freedom but you are trapped by a black box and a mileage cap which rinses you out of money. Thanks but no thanks I guess carrot..
