What went wrong! The question should be what went right!! Nothing, absolutely nothing. From 1st taking out insurance with them, and supplying them with the correct documents they requested within the required time frame, they then continued to hound me saying i hadn't sent them the information threatening to cancel my insurance. One year on, and yes you guessed it, trying to get proof of your no claims bonus is impossible, with new insurers now threatening to cancel my new policy the temptation to drive to their offices with 10 litres of petrol strapped to my waist is becoming ever more tempting as a last resort as my brain is going to explode from frustration, having to keep writing down everyone's name date & time i spoke to them, and getting nowhere fast. Did i forget to mention they wanted to increase the premium almost two fold (that's £1,000 extra), as they were no longer covering my class of vehicle "as it has 7 seats" (2 fold downs), bit bizarre as it's the same car, and more sensible than a two door sporty racer!!!

After being with first insurance for 5 years I went renew my policy today and I was left with a very unhelpful person on the phone who wasn't willing to give me any discount. All they wanted me was to renew on a more expensive policy and didn't care about helping me in anyway so I'll have to move company where people actually care.

False advertising. This company came up as my cheapest insurance on all of the price comparison websites and as others have said, after putting in my card details I still had to wait for someone to call me before my policy could start. When I was called the following day the man went through all of my details which were all correct, however the price of insurance went up by £300 even though nothing had changed. He could not give me a reason for this and tried speaking to his supervisor to see if he could bring the price down but he could not. I went back to searching through the different price comparison websites, with the same details, and First for Insurance were still my cheapest option and even cheaper than before.

I took out insurance for the year, sold the car within the first month as my wife and I are divorcing, we have a terminally ill child and things just haven't worked out. I was told about the £60 fee for cancellation and 10% charge that First take if cancelled. Then you have the underwriters (in my case) 1/12 fee. So I paid them £650 and they are trying to give me back £330 after I insured the car for 16 (yes!!!! 16) days! This company is the epitome of UK "Terms and Conditions" which were NOT EVER explained in that detail. I was told as I described above and they tried to pu this one over us. I am waiting for their manager to call me, it better be good" You have been warned!

After inputting all the correct data through comparethemarket website, I received a quote of £1,247.92. It redirected me to First for insurance's website to complete the order. I have inputted my debit card details and confirmed all the correct details. I received an email afterwards stating that my policy is ready to process, however it stated that either someone is going to call me back or I should call them immediately. I then received a call at 08:32 from 01344 987640 and spoke with David from First for insurance. David took all the details again despite me inputting them on their website. David now quoted me in excess of £2300 for a policy whereby none of the details were altered. You do the maths.....

Quoted £990 online but unable to complete online. Phoned them and went through all details again, suddenly price went up to £5000! What a waste of time!

Worst company I have ever used. Caught them out many times with pricing where they lack consistency and transparency. Sales staff are rude and clearly need sales training. If they know you want to cancel insurance they will simply increase the cancellation fee for doing so each time you call. I wouldn't go anywhere near them...

Worst Insurance group I have ever used. Complete rip off. A lot more expensive than other insurers. Half of the team have an attitude when they are speaking to you with a serious lack professionalism. Would never use them again.

Quotation given online, no method of paying online which means having to phone them up! Took 25 mins to be connected to an operater (not good if your trying to purchase insurance) Once through to an operater I had legall cover added for £30 per year just to then be told that the price of the policy had rose by over £200 even though all my details were correct and had not changed! Complete rip off company offer good prices just to change them when you try to purchase (they make their money on the very long phone calls that charge top rate)

Gave the advisor the correct information at the start. 3 months later I get an email so I called then up. They tell me that I gave the wrong information. After listening to the call their story is different 5 mine. They are liars. Stay well clear of these conns.

I would say run as fast as you can when this company quotes. I found this company thu confused.com for my husband's car.my husband has nil ncb I input this information on to the system and i called to take up the policy it took the advisor 40 mins to set up the policy dispite all the information been fill in by me . Apparently they gave my husband a discount which I was not told about when taking out the policy . I can't proven proof he was on my policy for 4 years as I don't keep my old insurance paperwork and the company I'm was with are being funny about giving out these information . So emailed them to explain was only told I need to prove proof or the price won't be valid . What they don't know is I'm a ex insurance broker and will be taking them to fca for mis selling a policy .

where do i start opened a policy up with these over a year ago (big mistake) started this policy on a vauxhall zafira had it a year in which time didnt recieve any paperwork from first insurance , as i was getting to the end of my policy i decided to sell the zafira and get a new car only to find that first insurance had auto renewed the policy for the zafira which i no longer owned. as a result of this i am now stuck with a policy that they expect me to pay for cancellation even though i did not get notified or anything when renewing. now on to my new car saab 9 3 2.3 convertable i wanted to insure my saab with them so called them before i bought it they told me £80 a month now i bought the car 4 hours later price is suddenly 107 a month? anyway i decided to do a quote with someone else who i priced me £57 a month for 2 cars my saab and my 1.9 diesel passatt compared to first insurance's price of £192 a month only thing is aviva who were excellent and very cheap priced me £57 a month want proof of no claims which is fair enough but first insurance are refusing to send them in the post. only positive thing about first insurance they are quick to renew actually super quick as its automatic without the customers permision and quick taking payment apart from this i can only assume they are called first insurance because they won 1st place award for worlds worst insurance company.

This company is a rip off. They charge £60 minimum to cancel a policy and an extortionate 2.5% to take credit card payments.
