I believe my driving was scored fairly however having 10:00pm as a driving time restriction can sometimes destrupt day to day activities.

Hi, In order to shield our drivers from the most risk especially driving after 10:00, we reduce scores however we do know you may need to on occasion and therefore don't impose an actual curfew ~Joe?

Got an email saying they would cancel my insurance if I didn't pay what was owed! The sum they wanted from me was ?0.00. If I didn't pay this by a certain date then my insurance would be cancelled! I got in touch & said how do you I pay this & the girl said " direct debit ??? Oh ok it's in the post!! I wonder who constructed the email????

Find the system a bit frustrating as it marks you down for driving late at night which I do often due to work. Also scored me very low, and i do not believe it is a fair score.

We are as transparent as possible about driving between the hours of 10pm and 5am as more accidents happen between these hour and as an insurance company try to protect our, younger, more inexperienced drivers. ~ Jamie

I was disappointed to find that i was still on limited mileage but my sister same age same car was unlimited. also on my first year the price of going over my mileage was horrendous

I think that it could be improved if you received a score after you had completed each journey. It does seem a little ridiculous that you have to wait a month to find out how well you are driving.

Good priced Insurance for young or new drivers especially and the rate went down dramatically after the first year making it very affordable. The SmartMiles app though does not seem to record drives fairly, for example driving during unsocial hours once could bring the score right down and does not allow you to make up for it.

We are as transparent as possible about his area, and as an insurer have a level of responsibility for our younger more inexperienced drivers and suggest they don't drive during this period. As long as you counter balance your night time driving with day time driving, you can improve your score. I have been a customer with Hastings direct for the 4th year in a row. Discount was nothing. Why offer one and raise the price is baffling. There have been many thingsbwhich have been pointed out which have been failed to be informed of through past years. Shall not be returning next year if things havnt improved through the year.

Hasting directs customer service has been alright in all fairness, however they seem to give different information between each representative on the phone. This caused problems when it came to charges and payments, etc. Furthermore, the telemativs box is very slow at telling you how your driving is. And it also seems very inaccurate. It can take almost 2 days after a harsh brake (for example) for it to register on the app, and reflect it in your score, which is very very misleading and unhelpful.

Hi there,Thank you for your feedback, our boxes update every 70 miles or so, so unfortunately it can take a few days between updating if you drive a low mileage. Insurance is good and cheap . Bad communication with staff tho every email iv sent throught has came back with error

I was rather disappointed at the score of 75 I received. With the box recording the car usage I tried very hard to stay within the law ( not that I don't usually ), not speeding etc. The young man who I spoke to regarding renewal gave the impression that some scores had been revised!!! Could this be a case in point? It would be interesting to have a breakdown of figures

Hi there, I can understand your disappointment with a score of 75 although the average is 65 so you are well above that which is great. Your online dashboard will give you a breakdown of the individual scores (braking, acceleration, speed and time of day). Overall they are a great insurance. However I think some of their fee's are abit steep. An added excess because your under 21 is slightly ridiculous especially when I'm due to turn 21 within the next two months. This should be looked at by a case by case basis.

Charging an excess like this allows us to cover the risk of insuring young drivers, whilst being able to provide consistent, cheaper prices.? Cheap insurance after the first year but don?t believe the black box score! I don?t speed or brake sharply but getting very low scores. But the price is very reasonable and the customer service is very good.

Price was excellent, however, i phoned to pay with a credit card but unfortunately the transaction was taken from my bank account NOT the card I wanted.

The service was cheap for my first year of insurance although the black box was limiting. Being out later than 10pm will greatly effect your score. If you use more miles than you put down you better be ready to pay out for them! Although this is the case the staff over the phones were always helpful if i needed anything or any advice.

Jamie was the agent, he was super nice and chill. But I am kinda annoyed because the information on my renewal documents were incorrect which changed my renewal price, the wrong postcode was recorded on the system. Jamie changed it and it was all fine. However, the wrong documents were sent across to the credit company, meaning that I cannot sign my document. This is really annoying as it is delaying my signing of the documents.

Happy with the Set up....But not Happy about this 2nd Year the score is carried on from Previous year.....Should be back too 100...

Hi Roget,Thank you for leaving this review. Your score in the 2nd year goes towards your potential renewal price or whether we would indeed insure you further. In the 1st years insurance as I'm sure you know if your score drops below 40 we go through a potential cancellation process. This isn't the case in your 2nd year.~ Jamie

Really good cheap Insurance but because the black box acceleration score is measured from throttle usage it can give inaccurate scores with small cars where a higher throttle level is required to maintain the same speed (eg Toyota Aygo 100 speed, 98 Breaking, 0 Acceleration) Which is enough to bring down discounts. Work on that and it will be a solid 5 stars
