The service (well my mum gets as she contacts Hastings in my behalf) is excellent. My annual premium has dropped by more than half due to the very easy app I use to see how I?m driving. The calls she makes are always answered quickly and the queries are always answered. My mum had recommended my nan to Hastings as she?s so impressed with the service

My motor insurance policy needed to be altered for renewal and the person on the other end of the telephone made this task so simple

Have had no real problems whilst being insured by smartMiles. Will renew and recommend if the price is right.

On the only occasion I called Customer Services they were really helpful and a easy to talk to. Not cheap the first year, but it's great in the second year when you have proved yourself.

Very nice people on the end of the phone. Easy to access the dashboard. Would definitely recommend this company to friends and family

We found that we were paying two lots of insurance one with Hastings direct and one with smart miles I know this will ha e happened to lots of people as it was immediately refunded to me disgusting though as if I had not noticed it would ha e carried on coming out

Although Hastings Direct is also responsible for our Smartmiles brand, they are our sister company so at times we have no idea if you have duel insurance as it doesn't get flagged with us. 1) They are good in service, commitment, as they fitted device in my car as per the schedule fixed and gave me due discount while renewing my insurance after one year. 2) Recording wise bit problem as due to their timings (no drive from 2200-0500) I strictly followed at the cost of my comfort after getting free from work at 0430 waited till 0500 and coming back home from friends and parties before 2200 but my rating did not improve from given 80 despite my repeated calls. Moreover my ratings for speed and acceleration should have been improved due to my careful driving but they remained 91 and 90 without any explanation. 3) Overall I am happy.

Ask a customer how they want to pay each year. Do not assume they will respond the same each year.

The Black Box is very inaccurate, would not recommend. Promises to lower premiums and whilst mine didn't go up, it did not reduce by anything like expect upon renewal. Plus, the algorithms they use to calculate the driving scores are likely faulty, braking never went above 50% despite me being a very careful driver.

Awful, bad customer service with no follow up to any complaints or queries surrounding scores, black box in general is basic and just a money making scheme. Would never recommend

I do not rate smart miles at all as a good insurance company. I had two extreme speed warnings that I questioned both of ! The warning told me I had gone over 90 miles an hour on both occasions ! My car will literally not go that fast. I will not recommend this company to anybody !! I?m so glad to be out of the contract !

Unfortunately we do have occasions where our boxes pick up incorrect road speeds but rest assured we investigate each extreme speeding event and verify it. If it is deemed to be an error with our systems, this does not have any impact on your policy. I'm sorry to see you have gone to another provider but with you the best with them.~ Jamie

The decision to go with Hastings Smart Miles as my first insurance company was probably the best decision ever. The whole thing has been so simplistic and straight forward. I have recently contacted the customer service team for additional sticky pads for the black box due to having a new car battery & the lady was brilliant, really easy to talk to as well plus the wait time was minimal. Thank you!
