Usually worth 5 stars for the great service. However, large price difference between insuring online and renewing by phone - like 40% more for renewing by phone!! Online seemed like new quote rather than a renewal. When I mentioned this on the phone the usually great customer service slipped and not really interested in the difference

Wondering where my policy documents are that they said they would send me ? Can't talk to anyone about it because they don't answer the phone !!

Great price, they have a problem with uploading documents, they always fail to upload been like that for three years. When they do update details there’s always something missing or incorrect they never get it right.

Called MCE direct and they quoted much higher than Compare the Market for the same product (MCE 3rd party) No idea why and guy on the phone was pretty uninterested in working to lower my quote so bought through CTM. But happy enough with the product.

Painful having to repeat ALL the information again if you have already done an online quote and phone up to ask for a multi-bike quote or other amendment requiring speaking to a human being. Also if you change the level of cover and you have to go through ALL the details again - made me want to just hang up several times. And the hold music is so annoying - now I know why customers spend so long on hold (see above). The sales assistant then states the system is running slow.....? My multi-bike quote was over £100 MORE than adding up the individual quotes on each bike - I've NEVER had that before......... THEN after a word with the underwriters I got an instant £100 discount.... Hmmm.....nice. It was still a bit more than the sum of MCE individual bike quotes..... I decided to go with it to avoid the pain of repeating ALL the details again with another insurer. Despite the compulsory excesses also being on the high side - also more than I've ever had before........ At the moment the only thing which stands out about MCE is they accept NCD upto 3 years old.

Renewed my insurance on the phone. Operator was helpful, but a bit difficult to follow all the prepared compulsory statements they have to go through. In the end, glad to get off the phone. Cost went up this year, the usual when you don't shop around. Surprising really though as we have moved from an area akin to a war zone, to a very quiet area. Only difference is my scooter is in a shed overnight and not a brick garage, so that was the excuse. I will need to make sure I shop around next year.

Not great really. Non-UK call centre for renewal was difficult to communicate with and wasn't the actual Broker, just some call centre. It's cheap, but I dearly hope I don't need to make a claim.

Policy dropped in price after one year not like other companies keep increasing prices when your no claims build up thanks

It was a choice between 2 and 3 stars. First of all it was hard to understand the person at the call center as it was in the Philippines and she spoke really fast. After filling all my details in the Comparthemarket application and taking out the policy I found when reading my insurance certificate it had several mistakes and put in dates I hadnt entered. Upon ringing the customer service and waiting ages I once again had to run through everything to get the details correct. Time wise it seemed to take far to long but I was ok with the price.

As this was a renewal it wasn’t the cheapest quote around. However after speaking to somebody on the phone about the price they managed to reduce the cost of the policy by £50 instantly. Shame you have to ask at all really. Why can’t they give you lowest price at the start. Have been insured with them for 3 years previous but shall be going somewhere else next time as this does my head in!!!

I was very disappointed after being a loyal customer to mce that every year now, my insurance goes up. Also the advisor I spoke to couldn't understand my that when my new policy started. I would take my Nike from the old address where it is still kept, to my new address. This caused a bit of agro and resulted in my policy starting early.

Brilliant people, great price and as far as information on the net goes all good. Don’t ring them, ridiculous price to do so, check on the internet and you will find lots of similar comments, it cost me 6 pounds for a few minutes. It’s also easy to say it’s the operator who makes that charge, but most places you can ring for an acceptable price.

Very competitive pricing although not sure they will cover much beyond 3rd party liability when the time comes. Online system a little clunky and there has always been a glitch with payment every single year I have renewed. Shows payment rejected, but sometimes it does actually go through.

Initially tried taking policy out over the phone. Was on for much longer than necessary as ended up with an advisor that didn't know what they were doing and had to 'go speak to his manager' several times. All in all I did take policy out but had to do it online post call due to the incompetence of advisor. Plus I have just received my phone bill to find that the call has resulted in costing almost £20!?! Seriously not happy and with hind sight would have gone with a diffent company as would have been cheaper if factoring in the cost of call!

Price increased three times whilst trying to purchase insurance from initial mce quote and would not wllow me to purchase from quite reference or you would have had 5 stars
