Unfortunately, having a claim recorded on your policy can cause your premium to increase or even be unacceptable to your insurer, regardless of fault or size of the claim. I am sorry to hear of the time it took to settle your claim. There are many factors which can contribute to a claim remaining open for a significant period of time and there is no set time limit on how long a claim can take to be settled.
