Do not use this company! I was involved in a no fault claim 8 weeks ago, my car was repaired by a garage they chose, and what has down valued the car is not the accident but the terrible repair. I am currently starting a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman as 8 weeks later this is not resolved. If I was offered free car insurance for the rest of my life with Privilege I would NOT accept.

My partner had insurance with them for his old car. During that time, he never made any claims nor was he at fault for any accidents. In 2016 my partner phoned them to inform them that he was trading in his old car for a new one, and he wanted to discuss quotes. In that conversation, he made it clear that he did not want cover for the old car. Why insure a vehicle you no longer own? He told them that he would phone them back if he wanted to insure the new car with them. Later on, he decided to insure the new car with a different organisation. Fast forward a year later. My partner received a letter from them about his 'current' insurance on the car that he had traded in. He'd paid insurance for a year for the old car that he no longer owned. He promptly phoned them to receive compensation, and they said it would be dealt with as soon as they had forwarded the matter to their accounting department. Nothing was done. After having phoned them 4-5 times, they finally told him that they would not be giving him his money back as he did not explicitly say that he wanted to cancel the policy on the car that he traded in. He asked to hear a recording of the call that he made in 2016. After hearing this recording, he has decided to call the ombudsman for advice, as he personally feels that his intention to cancel the policy was made clear by the fact that 1: He was trading in the car and 2: He declined the offer to continue the cover on the car. Ultimately, it simply isn't fair to pay insurance for a car that you have sold/traded in. We are now left with two options: Make a formal complaint or go to the smalls claims court if all else fails. My best advice: Do not take insurance with them. It is clearly evident that they do not care about their customers. All they care about is money, and they will go through whatever tiny loopholes they can to avoid giving you a single penny.

Privlege insurance is the worst insurance company in the UK. Especially in the Breakdown Services.

A car (their customer) drove into and knocked over my garden wall. I have been emailing them and phoning for 7 weeks. They have eventually admitted it wasn't my fault but have been stalling over any action and payment saying another department needs to deal with it, which they have no control over and can't tell me a timescale. If I could give 0 stars I would.

they withhold my no claims discount proof until i pay the cancellation fee which i think is not legal. i had to postpone buying a car for my family because i was financially struggling at that time.

Worst car insurance company ever, you ask them for a simple document but instead of sending it out they become really rude and condescending. They don't follow up on what the customer requires and instead try to assert their authority. I would never buy any product from this insurance group ever again even if it was cheaper by a few hundred pounds. I wouldn't even want to catch a cold from them. They have no customer service skills whatsoever.

I have just been told I am at fault for an accident. That could not be more clearly the other drivers fault . Driving down main road let a car out of side turning but car behind shots out as well leaving me unable to stop Driver asks me not to go though insurance and says he will cover cost of repairs I refuse his offer and say no I am going though my insurance the car is repaired and returned to me this parted all good 10 months latter I get a phone call saying I am at fault for the accident . The fine fellow that pulled out in front of me has managed to decide he now did not pull out in front of me but I let him out then my foot slipped of the brake one I went into the side of him and he found a witness (friend) that saw it . This is not a joke this just happened and they believe him and say I am at fault AVOID AT ALL COSTS ALL THIS IS GOING TO STICK WIYH ME AND COST ME MONEY FOR YEARS PURE INCOMPETENCE

Got a quote by Go Compare. Ring to them. Really nice person answered and unfortunately said that I need to wait hour or a bit more to see my quote. Strange. Prefer to by insurance by phone when you can ask all questions.. Bought but seems will be problems....

""Having been a Privelage customer for 2 years, I received a renewal quote for £590 which I was pleased with. Unfortunately I had to take my car back to the dealership therefore had no car for 3 weeks therefore I cancelled my insurance but said i would return, when I finally bought a new car (which was identical to previous car) I called up expecting a similar quote only to be told that I was now being treated as a new customer. All my information was the same and they quoted me £1019. When I queried this I was told that there was nothing they could do. I bought the same insurance with Esure for £519. I will never use privelage again and would urge you to look elsewhere.

After 28 year with privilege i would never ever go with them again. The way i have been treated is disgusting!!!!!!!!!!!!! After an accident that was not my fault The price they put on my car The bullying way they talked to me The lies they say. The way they try to bully me into a corner with the higher car saying. Saying they are taking it away as you don't excepted are price!!!!! I am a self employed childminder i need a car so they what until all the children are back at school. They say we are hear for you no!!!! They are hear for themselves. Well they are losing three policies. So after 28 year i am going to the Ombudsmen and i will never use Privilege OR DIRECT LINE and i will be telling all my facebook friends and ALL other childminders and i will be putting my feelings in writing to PACEY [PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR CHILDCARE AND EARLY YEARS ] TO make sure THAT OTHER CHILD CARE PROFESSIONALS know that if they need a good insurance company DO NOT USE PRIVILEGE OR DIRECT LINE INSURANCE we will be taking both car insurance and the house insurance off them ASP So they now leave me with no car and no money AND the possibility of losing my business of 18 years. SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A INSURANCE COMPANY TO LOOK AFTER YOUR HOME AND CAR DON'T USE DIRECT LINE OR PRIVILEGE.

Due to the purchase of a new car, I wished my "old" car (insured by Privilege) to be insured in my wife's name. After a telephone conversation with Privilege discussing my requirements I received incorrect documents. Following up on the error, I was given a revised quote which was more than double that of other quotes received. I cancelled the policy and am now due a pro-rata refund on the policy based on the remaining insurance period which has been agreed by Privilege. After 5 telephone conversation and a letter of complaint this matter is still not resolved and I have not received the refund due. The matter has now been running for over 2 months. If Privilege cannot handle the simple task of a refund which they acknowledge is due, they cannot be trusted with an insurance claim. This company makes commitments but does not follow through, I don't trust them and will not deal with Privilege in the future.

The claims service is beyond incompetent. I was involved in a non-fault accident with a Privilege policyholder who admitted fault. Such a palaver to get my car fixed. I'm going to a solicitor next time around.
