Used to love Gooutdoors, from the days of CCC in the late 80s in Sheffield) but they have gone a long way downhill rapidly over the last 18 months. Stock marked as in stock in store is frequently not in stock, don't bother going to a store based on info from the website. Ordered click and collect with stock listed as available, order canceled as not in stock BUT item has remained marked as in stock for the last 3 weeks (checked by ordering and it still isn't!) Ordered from a different store, as it was a 90 mile round trip phoned to check once the order was confirmed by email, arrived in store and the staff had picked the wrong item (not as ordered/confirmed by email). If you go in to browse and buy then probably OK but don't rely on buying anything from there / asking advice / customer service. On the plus point Cotswold will price match so if you can find the same thing there, they just check the GoOutdoors website for "availability" ;)

I have been a long time shopper at Go Outdoors as I like the convenience of having a local store, the vast range of kit on offer and the competitive prices. As an outdoors person, adventure activity instructor and Scout Leader I have spent a lot of money over the years on personal kit, work equipment and Scout equipment. However recently I have been dismayed to experience problem after problem when buying items from them. It all started when they have created a new website and order system (around May 2019). This caused me to lost my online account, the website wouldn't show any available stock & it stopped offering the 'click & collect' service. When I visited the store the staff were obviously struggling with the new stock system and were at a loss as to how they could help me. Having contacted customer services I was told to create a new account and that the stock levels would soon update with the new website. After a week or so the stock levels did update and the 'click and collect' service became available however every time I went to order an item that was shown as 'in stock' the item changed to unavailable when I went to checkout. This became extremely frustrating and eventually I shopped elsewhere for these items. BUT it didn't stop there. Recently I made an order using the 'click and collect' service and received the usual email notification me that the item was on it's way to the store. However on the day of collection I received an email from DHL notifying me that the item was out for delivery and later I received another email from DHL stating that the DHL Parcel driver called and, as no one was in, the parcel had been returned to the local depot (I was at work that day). This was somewhat annoying and very confusing as I had ordered a "click & collect' item instead of home delivery as it was easier for me to drop by the store on my way home from work. As DHL offer a re-delivery option I chose to have the item re-delivered when I would be at home however I then received a notification that the item had been delivered later the same day to a name I was unfamiliar with. This was a name that didn't match any of my neighbours names or property's. I am now at a loss as to where the item is and who now has it. All VERY DISAPPOINTING!! Just to top it all off I ordered & paid for another item recently which showed as in stock only two be notified today that the item was no longer in stock and the order had been cancelled. However there was no indication of a refund and my account still shows the card as having debited the payment. Having built and upgraded websites myself I can allow little lenience for mistakes to happen but this really is too much! Whether I continue to use Go Outdoors is now very much in question!!!

Like many others I'm reading about on here, I used to enjoy shopping with Go Outdoors, but recently have experienced very poor service online. I ordered and paid for items on 27th May and tried to call 'customer service' line (using that term very tongue in cheek) which rings and then recorded message saying recieving large number of calls and apologies, then it cuts you off!! Also I get and email on 12 June in response to my mail on 8 June) saying my order 'may' have been cancelled and refund made, which I have not received! Have experienced poor service with lack of staff in local stores and likewise poor online service. I was a loyal customer but have now made my feelings known via friends and social media. Can see this company possibly joining several other folding companies if this continues but I'll not be using them again.

False offers on lots of products, it says stock available but when you reserve it you get another message saying sorry, now out of stock

Tried to order an item.. out of stock. Put on stock alert and ordered again when stock was available. Then was notified that item wasn’t available and order would be cancelled. It’s been over 2 weeks and I’ve still not got my money back. Emails are ignored, calls to customer service just result in a recorded message saying they’re too busy and they hang up. Terrible service. Never again.

Absolute terrible customer service when ringing these people . I reserved a tent online only to be sold an older version of it which I didn’t realize til later on as they both looked the same but the newer version has black out bedroom inside. Just wonder what they actually do help with over the phone, maybe just sit on their back sides all day just taking the mic out of their customers seems to be right

Ordered a few things online and after they failed to be delivered on the promised date I tried several times to contact customer services only to told they were too busy to answer the phone and to try again later. I eventually got through to a chap called Chris who told me he would look into my issue and get back to me, he never got back to me. More days pass and still no contact so I’ve just spoke to customer services again only to be told they still have no idea why my goods have still not been picked. After minutes on hold I was told I couldn’t have a refund and would have to wait to see if my goods can be shipped. At this point the ordered items are no longer needed as I’ve had to shop elsewhere. I’m told it’s being passed on to management and I should expect a call soon to inform me when and if my items are being delivered. Having shopped at go outdoors for many years and spent thousands of pounds with them I think this treatment is shocking and I will never ever shop there again in store or online.

DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE! Ordered a £200 tent on a Friday, they made a big deal about it being delivered the following Wednesday (after Easter). On the Sunday I got a email saying that 'Your Order is on it's way!', comes to Tuesday I get a text from DHL saying 'Your shipment will be delivered Wednesday' with tracking info, it's Wednesday today and all DHL can say to me is 'We're sorry but we do not appear to have received your consignment from the sender.' I have phoned GO OUTDOORS twice today, first time they fobbed me off saying it might come tomorrow now (what's the promise of Wednesday delivery then??? I took the day off to receive it!), then the second time I phoned them they said they will get someone to look into it and phone me back - like hell they will! I haven't heard anything and now to top it off when I phone them the automated reply says 'we're to busy right now phone back later'. Zero s**ts given about the customer. Will NEVER use this company again. Don't use them.

Appalling customer service from Lincoln. Store Manager Dave refused to exchange a faulty jacket, despite being a month old... expected much better, & have indeed experienced much better in the past from them... not anymore. Avoid at all costs.

Went to the Norwich store to buy some winter gas with my newly sent discount card only to be told it had expired. Told the sales assistant that I had only received it a couple of days before but there was no offer to sort it out. Applied the discount but the customer service was terrible. Looked at the tents and only the most expensive were on display and there wasn't even pictures of the cheaper ones. Prices are more expensive than other local camping stores, even with the discount, so won't be going there again.

Second time running that I've took my Disabled daughter to Stockport Go Outdoors to look at Tents, only to find the lift to the First Floor (where the Tents are), out of order. Another wasted trip. Pathetic Disability Awareness + concern.

Price match again, they can't do even though I found a genuine store. IE I found a water proof tupilak jacket for 100 less. Please don't take advertise when you won't match.

Will not buy from them again! Terrible buying and after sale experience!!! They double charged you and shipped you the wrong product. The whole shopping and buying experience was a total disaster. The plan for Christmas gift ruined and frustrations of their slow response and anxiety of the whole ordeal ruined my holidays. Told me the DHL will come pic up on 28th, but it was a no show. Turned out the customer rep hasn't turned over the paperwork. Its been a month now, the wrong product still sitting in my house! They deserve no star!

We encountered many incidents with just ONE order! First the company duplicated and charged on my credit twice. Second they shipped a wrong item! Third they don’t hv customer service to help. Very slow after sale serve, I hv paid everything including shipping n import taxes, n need to know whether I ll get replacement or full refund. One incident is bad luck, but one after another and no clear ways to resolve it made the whole shopping experience a disaster! I wish I did the research before placing the order.

Have visited Go Outdoors in Lincoln 1/12/2018 today and twice earlier this year on bank holidays. Staff training clearly an issue here Staff member covering walking boots very abrupt. He was unsure of boots price and he went away and came back with a price of £50. When we got to checkout a member of staff said £60 and refused to honour earlier price given despite earlier mistake. Have previously visited on a bank holiday, staff member told us then store was about to close and was unaware the store was open for another hour and was getting rid of customers! Shop generally appears overstaffed - staff chatting and disinterested no quality. Unbelievable.

Really bad customer service. They sent me the wrong item and had to speak to 5 different people everytime they emailed to discuss the same issue and repeat myself several times. They didn't care to resolve the issue. Be careful when buying from them not all the images match the actual product they send you.

Terrible experience. Order a top for my son. Was sent a pink one instead of the requested blue top.. They would not send the right item untoil the other one was returned (fair enough). In the meantime they sold the one that should have been set aside for my sone. Everytime I found a replacement that was in stock on line they told me that it was not in stock (including the roginal item). When they did have something in stock they told me I would have to reorder it.....despite not having refunded any money from the original error. Complete joke. Nobody takes ownership of problems. There customer service Dept is on a ticket system and you get know continuity and end up speaking to different people everytime. So they have my money but not sending me a product and asking me to send more money to be sent the product....consumer rights here we come.
