I took my car in for the 10 Point safety check, upon collection I was told that I had over £1,000 worth of defective items which needed attending to. This included four new tires, brake pads and brake discs. I subsequently took the car to two other garages to have everything checked and was told that there was nothing wrong with the car and the tires were fit for at least another year. They are a bunch of cowboys who want money for nothing-I would like to award them no stars but the facility is lacking. You have been warned!

Took my son's bike in on the morning off 10/04/26 as booked. Agreed with staff a replacement brake cable was required and paid for the cable and the fitting and left the bike as requested. The staff member informed me I would be contacted that afternoon to confirm the collection time later that day. Today is 12/04/26, I haven't had a call and the St Margaret's Way Leicester store telephone just rings out. Customer service has informed me they will need 7 days to progress any issues. I'm now in the position of wasting my time and fuel to drive to the store to enquire if they have actually done the work they promised and hoping my son will have a bike to go to school on tomorrow.

Ordered a new battery online for mobile fitting, on arrival Technician realised it was the wrong battery despite only w batteries shown as available on Halfords site. It was all apologies and he said they are only approximate batteries that are shown, then told they could get right batter today Tues 7/04/26. Checked in with Halfords customer service and no such battery ordered or available so offered a refund despite taking yet more time off work and left to own devices or offered if I could tow car to Halfords may help. An absolute joke and customer service help line is the worst ever and impossible to talk to a person….. IF YOU CAN GET A PRODUCT ELSEWHERE THEN DO SO APPALING SERVICE…

I ordered a bike from Halfords with a clear promise of delivery on or before 3rd April. The delivery was initially scheduled for 31st March, but it was delayed and, as of 4th April, it still hasn’t arrived. Tracking shows the parcel stuck at a sortation facility, and due to the Easter bank holiday, delivery is now pushed to 7th April or later. This is extremely frustrating as we specifically planned activities for the Easter break based on the promised delivery date. My son has been left very disappointed. Halfords have already taken full payment, yet failed to meet their own delivery commitment. I contacted customer service but received no meaningful resolution. Overall, very poor experience — unreliable delivery promises and lack of accountability.

Ordered a product online, was informed it had been located and was 'on its way' for pick up in local store. 5 days after initial pick up date, after many numerous attempts to get through to Halfords on their 'Live chat' function (waiting on the line for 30 minutes +, getting put through to an 'agent', then them losing connection, I managed to speak to someone on the phone. After another 30 minutes, I was fibally told the item wasn't in stock, either in the store or warehouse and I would have to accept my order would be cancelled. What a joke. I will never use this company again

£9 for fitting two windscreen wipers that took 20 seconds My wife was charged £9 for fitting two windscreen wipers that took the cashier 20 seconds to fit. Rip-off or what! My wife bought a pair of windscreen wipers for £28.48 and asked if they could be fitted as she had had a problem once before with getting them round the wrong way. "No problem" said the cashier without mentioning any fitting price. It too him about 10 seconds to fit each one as they just clip on, and so the cashier was out of the shop for a total of less than 45 seconds. When she checked the bill she had been charges £9 for fitting!

Do not go purchase e-gift cards from Halford’s Retail unless you want to be Scammed. I pointed out the fraudulent activity on my card and it is now over two days and no response. Their systems do not allow you to check your balance online only by contacting by phone. Once informed of the Scam they have no interest in investigating the fraud, probably by one of their Staff as the card is protected by a PIN. Shame on you Halfords.

Had a dashcam installed. Some time later car broke down. On investigation dashcam wiring incorrectly installed outside rear conduit leading to water ingress into car corroding and fusing numerous modules. Full new wiring loom now required. Total bill estimated at £20,000. Halfords claims doing utmost to get out of paying. Shocking.

Very poor service provided. The team member who dealt with had no interest in the problem had with my car battery. When challenged the response was abusive and aggressive. No way to run a business in my view . Clearly a major problem exists with customer service training.

Absolutely terrible. Ordered items online for in store pick up. Turned out the items were out of stock in store, given the run around on getting a refund. The chap in store was friendly and doing his best, but the system let things down. Contacted customer services, promised a response, no reply. Twice. Save yourself time, money, and reduce your stress levels by shopping anywhere else.

What an absolutely useless company, their online system allowed me to book a TPMS tyre valve service. It then emailed me to say there was an issue, so we spent 20 minutes on the phone rebooking at the same garage but no mention of what was to follow. I went to the garage the next day and they said we don't do TPMS valve servicing here!!!!. Justifiably I raised a complaint and didn't even get any offer of compensation for my wasted fuel and time just a fob off email. Never again will i purchase from this company, joke brand.

My wife went to the store in Bridgend retail park this afternoon to have her wiper blades changed, we knew it was £9 for the pair to be changed. The young girl on the counter told her that they would only change them if she purchased the expensive Bosh blades, my wife said that there were cheaper ones on the shelf surley they would be ok, the reply they 'probably not' not what I call Customer Service, really disappointed.

A SIMPLE BATTERY CHANGE TURNED INTO A 25-DAY NIGHTMARE OF INCOMPETENCE I am sharing this to warn others: Halfords Autocentres failed at the simplest possible task—fitting a new battery to my Audi. Due to their technician’s inability to correctly handle a basic battery change on a modern vehicle, they managed to cause a fault that left our car undrivable. As a result of their technical failure, our vehicle had to be taken to an official Audi dealership for repair. What should have been a 30-minute job turned into a 25-day nightmare. For nearly a month, my family was left stranded without a car. Instead of Halfords managing the situation, we were the ones forced to spend hours on the phone with Audi every single day, desperately chasing updates. For 25 days, my wife was effectively trapped at home, and our children came home from school every day asking if the car was back, only to be let down for over three weeks straight. If you have a vehicle with complex electronics, stay away from Halfords. Their lack of technical expertise and their failure to take responsibility for the disruption they cause is unacceptable. Don’t risk your car or your family’s peace of mind with people who cannot even fit a battery correctly. P.S. I have the technical reports from Audi confirming the error and the full timeline of the 25-day deprivation available as evidence.

I booked online for a battery fitting at home for the next day, payment was taken via gift voucher. Cancelled appointments and waited in the next day. About 11am I tried to contact someone as I hadn't received a confirmation. Live chat, no agents available due to cold weather, the same in the phone lines. My partner called the complaints line and managed to arrange someone to call me. She said there had been an error on there end and no one would be coming out. No apology or solution offered. I explained that I have a disabled daughter who I needed to be able to get to appointments the next day. She said I could rebook if I paid again but that they wouldn't be able to come for at least 3 days. She checked the gift voucher and could see payment had been made but expected me to pay again, she said I would receive a call the next day. I didn't receive a call. They called my partner even though they have my number and email then wouldn't talk to him because he's not me. I called back, someone said he would tell the fiance team to approve the refund and they would call me. No one has called or emailed, no one has apologised. There are no available email addresses to send a formal written complaint! They all bounce back. Terrible service - avoid!

Last Monday after work, I visited the Halfords store in Bedford to buy two very basic items: a plastic knife priced at £2.49 a window scraper priced at £1.99 The total should have been £4.58. At the till, the cashier named Simon did not scan the items and instead manually entered numbers into the system. Unfortunately, I did not notice the mistake immediately. After leaving the store, I realised I had been charged significantly more than the correct amount. I returned straight away and explained the issue calmly. Simon appeared confused and acted as if he did not understand the problem at all. Instead of refunding the overcharged amount, he asked me to pay again for the same items. The original transaction should have been processed as a refund, but it was incorrectly marked as an exchange. As a result of this error, I ended up paying £11 instead of £4.58 for items worth less than five pounds. This Monday, I returned to the store again to resolve the situation. I clearly explained everything and showed the receipts. I was ignored, and no attempt was made to correct the mistake or take responsibility. This experience demonstrates a serious lack of training, professionalism, and customer care. I strongly advise avoiding this store, as the staff appear unprepared to handle even basic transactions or resolve their own errors. Unless this issue is reviewed properly and addressed by management, I will have no choice but to escalate the matter formally, as overcharging customers and refusing to correct it is completely unacceptable for a company of this size.
