I booked a battery replacement for my Mercedes C-class. The fitter came within the time slot but in a National Tyre van, unmarked on one side. I did not get a Halfords own-brand start & stop 80aH battery, as he told me they were having supply difficulties, but an 82aH Exide one. I wasn't bothered by that, as I know my battery brands. He struggled to put back the lower battery holding clamp, which was hard to access - that was the fault of Mercedes's bad design. Then the car would not start, showing error codes which were clearly wrong. He said he had no diagnostic equipment, told me to call Halfords - and drove off. I called and a very friendly lady organised a follow-up warranty visit 2 days later. She seemed to expect this kind of call and waived the charge for this second visit. The technician (who came in an unmarked van) plugged in his diagnostics equipment, cleared up error codes, and the he car started again. But he could not solve an error code about the active bonnet system (pedestrian protection in case of a collision). After he had gone, I found a video on YouTube of an Indian technician fixing that problem - caused by a broken cable connexion. So I went and looked, and found that the original fitter had accidentally disconnected a connector in his struggle with the retaining bracket. I reconnected that and all was well. Otherwise I would, at the 2nd technician's suggestion, have had to take the car to a garage (my independent Mercedes specialist), and send the bill to Halfords, if the garage determined that the problem had been caused by them. All inconvenient. I chose Halfords because of the convenience of fitting at my home, and the price, which was indeed competitive. Their technicians were cheerful and friendly but they seemed to lack the training and (in the case of the first one) the equipment do this kind of job - which is hardly a complicated one. A pity, as I am a strong supporter of the independent automotive aftermarket and this is just the sort of thing a well-resourced service chain should be able to do. It was fortunate that I know my way around cars at least a little bit.

Went yesterday as my battery charging light came on, they fitted a new battery and Zi asked if the alternator was ok, chappy tested it whilst I turned the head lights and heater on , yes all ok. The charging light was still on but he said it would need resetting to remove the old fault code. Drove off and broke down 40 mins later when the new battery ran flat, had to wait 2 hours in the cold for the AA, after a quick look he pulled out a rubber belt and said if had broke, no way the alternator was working. Poor advice and service not happy at all

Checked website before traveling to the Horsham branch to collect the item which it said it was in stock, only to be told that it was unavailable. The young assistant told me that it wasn't Halfords fault and they only do a stock take once a year, and his whole attitude was dismissive, and he said they get the same problem all the time. I asked to speak to a manager, and in the meantime another assistant tried to help by checking the website instore, and it said they had 8 items available, but he couldn't find any despite looking for them. I find the whole experience unacceptable, this has happened to me on three previous occasions, and I think the whole experience is totally appalling, and the website a complete joke, and if it weren't for the fact that I have £60 worth of Halfords vouchers, I would never use the shop again.

Never purchase bike from them. You will not get it. I purchased bike from then in the store but they had to ordered to the store and build up. They scheduled me with the date to come and collect. On the day somebody called telling me the bike will not be ready today because they have a backlog but the bike is in the store and will be ready by tomorrow. They re-scheduled me for next day. I came next day just to hear that not only the bike is not ready but also is not even delivered to the store yet. They were unable to tell me when the bike will be delivered maybe tomorrow. I went the next day (no calls to tell me not to come because bike is not ready) and again bike not even delivered. This was going on to the point i had enough to request refund. First member of staff told me i can do it over the phone. Which i learnt later was lie. As i called them next day again the first one i spoke told me that all is sorted. Then another one call me to tell me that is not, i need to come to the store with the card. They just don't their own procedure, with two of them telling me that can be done over the phone. I got to the store really furious already. They were moving me from till to the till because apparently they were not able to do it on that one, the next one didn't work so i was pushed to the one with huge queue. I think this was malicious because i dared to request refund so they vile to me . But how long you can wait for a bike Jeeez. Unprofessional, untrained staff and callous and malicious.

Horrible service... I brought a bike on Monday 19th July and arrived damaged. i called Halfords and sent pictures of the damage and they quoted a 24 hour pick up service, no one came to collect the bike. i then called on Tuesday and still got quoted a 24 hour pick up still no collection, the case was then escalated it's now Thursday and still no pick up in sight. this has messed up my week as we finally had sunshine and the plan was to go out with my family. NEVER GOING TO BUY FROM HALFORDS AGAIN!!!!!

I have been trying to contact someone to hear my complaint. I've tried in writing and phone. I have a genuine complaint. My complaint went through manager at store was whitewashed. It is an utter disgrace the experience I have had and it is still going on. How do I speak to someone in authority who will deal with my complaint.

Just purchased a new windscreen wiper the assistant asked if I wanted it fitted so said yes. It took him all of 30 seconds to fit it for which I was charged £3, talk about a rip off, it has really irritated me to the point that I will never purchase anything from Halfords again I actually looked online for this item before giving my business to Halfords, why charge for that ?????

TL;DR: Had a faulty reverse camera and mirror kit installed, Halfords passed the blame and refused a refund. AFTER INSTALLATION Not too long after having a reverse camera and mirror kit installed, I noticed the electrics in my car (Peugeot 308 - 2008) were not working properly. For example, the back window wiper was randomly moving and spraying water. MECHANIC IDENTIFYING THE ISSUE I took the car to a mechanic. They found the wiring from the camera install was causing all the recent issues, as well as more potentially dangerous issues like the car faulting or catching fire. DURING INSTALLATION At the time of the installation at Manchester Fort in Halfords, the installer mentioned it was his very first reverse camera install. He showed me a burnt black pin, pointing out it was like that before starting work. After chasing this up with my car dealer, they assured me this was not the case. Regardless, the wiring was installed without proper care which resulted in faults with the car's electrics. Overall, the installation was dangerous and could have caused a serious accident. CONTACTING HALFORDS SUPPORT After contacting Halfords customer service asking for a full refund of the installation (£75 for less than 2 hours work), I was told by a Customer Support Claims Consultant that I was not entitled to one due to the burnt block found by the first time reverse camera installer at Halfords: “Given that the wiring to that block was already damaged we feel that unless you are able to show that the issues were caused by Halfords, we will not be pursuing this matter any further.” Taking pictures of the faulty wiring and receipt were not enough, based on their response I had to prove of the damage done during the install (which is not possible as I was not around during the 2 hour installation time). SUMMARY I would not recommend installation services from Halfords. They are too expensive, not reliable, and it is an uphill battle if anything goes wrong. For those wanting to avoid the same issue, here are some extra details: The item in question was "EchoMaster Dynamic Mirror and Reversing Camera Kit". Installation took place on 25th September 2018 at Manchester Fort (36 Cheetham Hill Rd, Manchester, M8 8EP). Halfords customer service email: customer[.]services[@]halfords.co.uk Overall, I was not happy with their service and will most likely be reporting them to Trading Standards due to the item and install being unsafe and dangerous.

I had a really bad experience at the Runcorn Auto centre as a result I contact head office. I was then promised a gift voucher as a small way of apology. However this never arrived I contacted head office again to be told someone would could me back that afternoon. that was 4 weeks ago and still waiting. being treated so badly initially was dreadful but to be treated this way following the complaint is appalling... needless to say I shan't be returning!!

Do not let the Amblecote store in Stourbridge anywhere near your car! We took our Toyota Aygo to have a headlamp replaced. After fiddling around with it for 30 minutes with a pair of bent plyers (which our Toyota dealership have since informed us should never be used for a job like this!), they announced they couldn't do it and referred us to the local autocentre. The autocentre said that the light fitting had been broken and it would cost us over £200 to replace the whole headlight! The last people under the bonnet before Halfords were the Toyota dealership just over a month ago for it's MOT, service and safety inspection. The car had passed the MOT with no problems and the safety inspection came back with a clean bill of health on the lights and fittings. Halfords are refusing to accept liability despite us having the paperwork from Toyota. They even the nerve to say that it was Toyota who had broken the headlight during the MOT. This ridiculous quote is from an email from Halford's claims department, "The damage is consistent with that which occurs during an MOT". So how come we have an MOT certificate issued with no problems identified? Essentially, Halfords are accusing a respected car manufacture's dealership of fraud, just so they don't have to pay for the damage they caused. It also begs the question of why then, did they try to replace the bulb if the fitting was already damaged. If they are not accepting liability then it only proves how incompetent they are if they are trying to replace a bulb on a broken fitting! Never use them, they will damage your car and will do all they can to deny it!

Purchased online - got delivered and found it to have a broken spoke. I don't live close to a store so I sent an email - got ignored, sent two more and finally got a reply. Its been over a week and after spending 3 days waiting for a courier to collect faulty wheel I am told that they have to collect the whole bike and I have to package it up. I no longer have the packaging as I was never told the bike had to be returned not just the wheel. I still have a bike and not able to use it. I am now told by the more than useless customer service I have to return the bike to a not very close store to get it resolved. This bike was poor quality but the customer service was the worse I've ever had. I will never purchase anything from Halfords or recommend them to anyone

The worse service ever!!! Specially coming from a massive caveman that i think is the superviser or manager. Today i run out of an antifreeze engine coolant, so looking for help i went to Halford in Northwich to buy some, so my car wouldn't let me in the middle of the road.???? So i went inside and I asked for the product and some help with this. I asked to one of the store assistant if she could come with me to let me know if everything was ok, but this caveman sudenly just told her that she couldn't as they are not allow to touch the anticoolant system. I said to him, thats fine i just need the advise and which product i need, becuase i will do this all by myself. At the end the cave man said no, but the store assitant said to don't worry i will help you anyway. And indeed she did help and i bought they one i needed. But suddenly i realised that i needed a funnel so i went back to ask to another store assistant if she could lend me a funnel so i could pour the liquid. The girl said yes no problem i will get you the one we use for antifreeze coolant, so i said thank you, but suddenly this stupid caveman took the funnel out of her hand and told her not to lend me anything even though she told him that the engine was cold already. So at the end i just told to the girl "dont worry i will manage". ???? Anyway it was a really horrible experience ???? i am 6 months pregnant and he was just watching me like idiot going under my car looking for any leak and making my own paper funnel to pour the liquid in. ???????????????? This person should not be working in this place. Its a shame that all his employees are better people than him.

Took my carrera kraken in to get a spoke replaced on rear wheel. When i collected my bike , granted the spoke had been replaced, but i found a wide range of faults that had occured in the time that they were in possession of my bike. Firstly the seat had been highered to its full extent which i found strange. On closer inspection i noticed that the dust cap and locking nut were missing from the rear wheel. A plastic holding clip which secures the brake cable to the top horizontal bar had been removed and i discovered that i had a slow puncture in BOTH tyres!!!! The bike would have probably been returned to me in better condition if i had asked my 4 year old nephew to fix it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

A terrible, very expensive visit to Halfords Autocentre in High Wycombe. They ere totally dishonest, rude and unprofessional. Customer service does not exist and it is impossible to complain and be heard. Will never go there again. A service and MOT which officially should have cost around £100 finally cost £900, following fabricated issues. Which has taught me a big lesson...stay away from Halfords.

bought a bike online for my daughters 4th birthday. Bike arrived on her birthday minus pedals, handlebar streamers and a broken stabilizer wheel. Took nearly two weeks to sort out (despite being told was being treated as a priority) Quite a long time for a four year old to wait !!. Several phone calls and emails, even emailed ( twice ) Ceo Jill Mcdonald who disappointingly did not bother to respond. Thought Halfords was a store that I could trust and rely on. Live and learn I guess, they'll never get my custom again not even for a light bulb
