If there was 0 star, I will select that. Halfords made mistakes on my car service history over a 3 year period, with the highest mileage in the first year, then it went down the following year, and up slightly in the third year. I have been chasing them to get this rectified for 2 weeks, but nobody seems to know what they are doing in their customer service. I can't sell my car as a result abd this is very frustrating

Iestyn the bike technician in the Merthyr Store was really helpful and friendly. What a credit to the store. There was a problem with the brakes on my son’s bike and they had locked. He sorted it straight away as he was not busy at the time I asked. “ I can sort that out now for you!” Really great service with a smile.

1. I held Premium Membership with Halfords and had held it for almost one year and it was due to expire on 18 September 2025. Contained in a renewal email sent by Halfords was a link which said “Annual members: Log in here to unlock next years benefits early”. This link took me to the log in page of Halfords and I logged in on 28 August 2025 so that I could “unlock next years benefits early” as noted in Halford’s email. I renewed my membership on the assumption that my membership will be renewed when the current membership expired on 18 September 2025 and that the new membership will run from 19 September 2025 for an year. However when I renewed the membership, it gave me an years renewal from 28 August 2025. This meant that I despite paying initially for my membership till 18 September 2025, because I “renewed” my membership on 28 August 2025, Halfords said that my new year started from that day and not from 19 September 2025. This means that Halfords charged me twice for the same period from 28 August 2025 to 18 September 2025. 2. The second issue was that when I logged into my Halfords account, despite having paid yet another years worth of Premium Membership fee, all my Rewards showed as being “Expired” and I was unable to book my MOT online nor any other rewards that were due to me. 3. The third issue was that I called Halford's customer services representatives on 9th September 2025 at 13:38 hours on your Customer Services number (0330 135 9779). My intention was to discuss the above two points and find a resolution. The customer services representation was a lady and she had what I think was a South African accent. I only mentioned the accent so that you can identify the representative I spoke to so that she could receive training on how to handle customers without being rude. I strongly suggest that Halfords review and listen to the phone conversation I had with her as she was EXTREMELY rude. I started off by telling her the issue detailed in point 1 above and that as a result of inconsistencies in how Halfords renews its Premium Memberships, I had effectively paid Halfords twice for the period 28 August 2025 to 18 September 2025. When I mentioned this to her, her response was effectively “tough” and that there is nothing she could do about it. When I mentioned point number 2 to her, she said she could book my MOT for me. This is not what I wanted her to do. I wanted to be able to log into my account online and have all my membership rewards refreshed for another year. Instead when I logged in, all my membership rewards were noted as being “expired” despite me paying membership for an additional year. Once again, she was rude, barely letting me talk. Finally, I was so shocked and frustrated with her rudeness, that I felt I had no option but to cancel my Premier Membership subscription. She said that I was outside of my 14 day cooling off period which was a complete lie. I reminded her that I was well within my 14 day cooling off period and that I wish to cancel my subscription. She then (reluctantly) agreed to cancel and she promised to send me a cancellation confirmation. I have still not received this from her!! I had to therefore cancel my membership online. Overall, I was shocked at the way she spoke, not wiling to listen to me and refusing to give her name despite me asking for it and challenging me for even daring to ask for her name. As she was being extremely rude, I started recording my phone call with her and as soon as I told her that I am recording the call as evidence of how rude she is, she went silent on me. She kept me on the call for a total 37 mins and 15 seconds (as per my call log) and despite me repeatedly saying “hello”, she stopped talking. I had told her that I needed her name to make a formal complaint about her and that is the point in time she stopped talking. I have never spoken to such a rude customer services representative in my life! As a result of this, I don’t think I will ever return to Halfords as a member or a customer and I will not recommend Halfords to anyone. I hope Halfords takes note of the manner in which she deals with customers and give her some further training on effective customer service hoping that it results in an attitude change in her.

Disgraceful Antisemitism at Ballymena Store I am leaving this one-star review to report a deeply disturbing and antisemitic incident I experienced at the Halfords in Ballymena. On the 17th of August, at approximately 3 pm, I was in the store waiting for a purchase to be installed. As an observant Jewish person, wearing my kippah, I was utterly horrified to hear an employee, who was working on a silver Hyundai SUV just outside, singing "Throw the Jew down the well". This was not a misunderstanding; it was a brazen and unacceptable antisemitic attack in broad daylight at a place of business. When I confronted the employee and his colleague to ask if it was all Jews they were planning on throwing down the well, they simply muttered a response and offered no apology whatsoever. I am outraged that this is the kind of behaviour that staff feel comfortable displaying while on the job. I am considering reporting the incident to the Police and all relevant statutory bodies. Management needs to provide answers as to how this disgraceful antisemitic act could possibly be seen as acceptable within their store. I await a response and to learn what subsequent actions will be taken. Other customers deserve to know what kind of culture is being tolerated here.

Used to use this company, they were great, now owned by Halfords what a horrendous service. I booked a next day appt to have a tyre fitted, paid £6 booking fee, they took my payment, but didn't provide me any confirmation. I called the help line (open till 10pm), but it was closed (that part of the phone line apparently closes early). Tried the "live chat" but it was down, called next day, I was told that my booking had failed and it would be 7 working days before I get my money back. I asked to rebook the same appt over the phone, but now its a £25 booking fee. Customer services unable to help, eventually a manager said (via customer services helper as they wouldn't come on the phone themselves) that if I pay the extra £25 they "might" be able to reduce it once they have checked that "I'm not lying". I asked to make a complaint, unable to provide me with complaints process "can't you just look it up yourself?". So I'm £140+ down, no tyre and I've spent over an hour on the phone. Avoid like the plague!

I ordered a Snooper XL-G2 Speed Camera Detector and received it within 4 days.. Booked the car into a garage to have it professionally fitted, on opening the box we found no instructions on how to fit. We had to go online to find instructions and found out that a SD card had to be fitted, there was not one in the box. The garage wasted 4 hours trying to get it working and when they did it just kept showing a grey screen with arrows. Returning home I spent 3 hours trying to contact someone at Halfords even twice chatting to an on-line expert only to be cut off, totally frustrated and annoyed I contacted NPHASE International who supplied Halfords with the Snooper. The agent was excellent and understood exactly what I was saying and first of all informed me that the SD Card was now installed within the Snooper and that the Hard Wire Fitting Kit would have the correct fitting instructions. WHAT Hard Wiring Kit when buying even now on the web site there is no mention that you need to purchase a Hard Wiring Kit. However to move things on the grey screen was down to the Snooper not being Hard Wired but wired through the USB connection, OK then can I order a Hard Wiring Kit from yourselves ???????? Sorry No we are sold out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You need to buy one on-line, another 3 hours of trawling through the internet, E-Bay, Amazon and all other suppliers just to find out they are all sold out and do not know when the kits will be next in the UK. So now I have a brand new Snooper which cannot be fitted as there is no Kit. Halfords please take this item off sale as without the Hard Wiring Kit with instructions it is a complete waste of money, and for me what am I suppose to do ? Wasted a full day and am totally disappointed in that I have not been able to contact anyone within Halfords.

NEVER GO THERE! I have to home thinking I pass the MOT , not giving paper work cause their system ( online) was down, and the issue was wis my windscreen wiper but however what I have told , mechanic fix but didn’t check as MOT, which doesn’t make any sense, then when I find out about MOT certification, I have told that I have to go again pay AGAIN for a MOT re done again. Trusting HALFORDS WAS MISTAKE! £40 wont make me poorer and them richer but its so bad how they treating their customers. Also, when I say I will make a complaint the gut on the phone goes well it will come to me cause Im dealing with complaints! It’s just a joke! NEVER GO THERE!

Extremely poor experience with a home delivery. My parcel cannot be delivered for more than a week due to their very bad choice of courier, delivery options they choose and the courier refusing to deliver in convenient for me time. Extremely poor customer service, lots of false promises, not responding to my complaint for ages. I can't even explore my legal rights to cancel the order within 14 days! Will never spend a penny for them again! Not to mention their jokingly autocentres that offers basic vehicle checks for free but then recommend work to be done that's actually not needed at high prices. I wouldn't recommend to anyone dealing with them and will never deal with them again.

Placed an order for dash and rear cam inc. fitting. website is ridiculously poor! After the order was placed including selecting the fitting centre I then got a call saying Epsom Halfords do not do fitting so they cancelled it, but not the order for the goods which were no good to me without the install. I then had to go through the very long process of contacting Halfords to cancel the whole order. It is extremely poor service to string a customer along like this, why allow a booking for a site that does not have installers!!

Disgrace! Ordered an item for my son’s bday a month ago and still not received! DHL website wasn’t working to change delivery options (have screen shots as proof), no one to talk to on automated phone line. Have rang Halfords various times over the last month and each time had empty promises that someone will get back to me within 48 hours, no reply to my emails either. One upset little boy and one furiously frustrated Mum! Halfords have essentially stolen my money and have told me they don’t have the power to refund me on the phone - then how else do I get it?!! I have received no refund, no item, and no contact. Appalling!

Truely awful to deal with. Been in three times to Gloucester to get help choosing an e bike.i was on my lunch break on my third visit. (Previous visits no one was available) showed the guy which bike I wanted and pointed out I would need a helmet. He told me to get a measure for my head size which I did. I returned immediately and he was never to be seen again. I waited 35 minutes and spoke to two other people during that time to try and find out where he went to be told he might of finished for the day. I was going to spend about £1200. How can they afford this as a company

Terrible experience – Faulty bike, poor service, and no accountability I bought an Apollo Phaze Blue 18, 20 mountain bike from Halfords Greenock in April 2025, and the experience has been consistently disappointing. Within a few days of purchase, I experienced serious issues: the chain wouldn’t shift to the smallest front gear and derailed repeatedly—often while riding uphill. This posed a safety risk and made the bike unreliable. I reported the fault immediately and returned to the store several times, but staff claimed they couldn't replicate the issue. Why? Because they only tested the bike suspended on a stand, not under real riding conditions where the problem actually occurs. I even demonstrated that the gears appear to function when the wheel is lifted—but fail under pressure on the road. Still, they dismissed my concerns. I use the bike lightly—just once or twice a week for short, 2-mile urban rides within Greenock—far below what you’d expect to challenge a mountain bike. Despite that, Halfords refused a refund and told me to pay for a new chain and labour. This, after I’d reported the issue well within the 28-day return period. To make matters worse, the mechanic who originally recommended the bike later told me the fault was due to it being a “cheap bike.” His manager echoed this. If that’s true, why did they recommend it? And why does Halfords’ website advertise the bike as having “premium components” and “durability at an excellent price”? You can’t have it both ways. Either I was misled at the point of sale, or the product was faulty from the outset. Either way, I’ve been left with a poor-quality bike, ongoing mechanical issues, and no support despite a warranty and CycleCare Premium cover. I also consulted local cycling enthusiasts—all agreed the issue should not exist on a bike that’s only weeks old. I’ve since found that others have had similarly bad experiences with the store’s maintenance service. After escalating my complaint to Halfords' head office, I received a final refusal, telling me they won’t act unless I provide an independent report at my own cost. This completely shifts the burden to the customer, which is unacceptable under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. I am now taking the matter to Trading Standards and RetailADR, and I advise anyone thinking of buying a bike from Halfords to be cautious. They do not stand by their products, and their service has been dismissive, contradictory, and unsupportive.

I booked another one in a different branch for the same day and in the evening got anothe call saying there was a problem with that bike. I tried to navigate their website to complain,i eventually got through and said if 5hey can’t get 3 bikes ready for the road what is their service department like? I explained i will buy a bike but not from Halfords

Ordered 4 new tyres for my husband’s car with mobile fitting. The fitter turned up and only changed ONE tyre. He claimed it was “too hard” to remove the other wheels and told us to report it to Halfords. Then he gave some other excuse and left. Halfords' recommendation? Take the car to another garage to have the wheels removed, then book another appointment to have the tyres fitted. Absolute joke! What’s the point of a mobile fitting service if they can’t do the job properly? Waste of time and money. Don’t bother with Halfords – full of excuses and cowboy service. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Hi, My order number is: A971B030638. I booked a tyre replacement service through Halfords and ordered four tyres with a home fitting. The booking confirmation stated the technician would arrive anytime between 8am and 8pm, so I waited the entire day — without a single update or call from them. As the day progressed and no one showed up, I had to call them myself. They assured me the technician would still come, so I kept waiting. Finally, just before the day ended, I received a call saying the driver was no longer available and wouldn’t be coming at all. I was then asked to reschedule. This was completely unacceptable. If they had informed me earlier, I could’ve made alternate arrangements with another company. But because they waited until the very end of the day to cancel, I had no other options — most places were already closed. I asked if they could come the next day (Saturday) or on Sunday, but was told they were fully booked and don’t operate Sundays. Now, I’ve been forced to wait until Monday, wasting my entire weekend just because of their poor communication and lack of professionalism. This kind of service is extremely frustrating and shows a complete disregard for customers’ time. I expected better from a brand like Halfords. I won’t be using their fitting service again.

I trusted Halfords to change both my car's headlights, a simple job, or so I thought. I paid £44.38 in February for the bulbs and fitting. The technician clearly struggled and spent a long time on one side, I questioned if it was fitted correctly at the time. Turns out I was right to worry. Two months later, my car failed its MOT for: Headlights being different colours, and The beam on one side being completely misaligned. The garage found a clip inside the headlight unit, left there from the botched Halfords job and I had to pay £180+ to fix it properly, including buying new bulbs again because the ones Halfords fitted weren’t even matching! Halfords not only wasted my money, but also compromised my safety and nearly cost me my MOT. The technician clearly lacked training or care, and I’m now out of pocket hundreds of pounds because of this. Avoid Halfords for anything beyond windscreen wash their incompetence cost me dearly.
