"BUYER BEWARE! Be careful buying tools from Harbor Freight. They have initiated a ridiculous return policy for defective tool. I bought a Pop Rivet Gun Air Model. It tells you to fill with Hydraulic Fluid. It took 2 people and a vise to open the casing and 30 minutes. Filled it up and closed it. After hooking up the air, it shot the fluid all over my shirt, pants, & part I was working on along with the floor. Not Good. Then I figured out they shorted me the smaller 1\/8\" tip. So when I went to return it, I was told I could only exchange it for another one. so to check it out, the 27 year old manager tried to open the lower filler cap and could not get the cap off another brand new one. I explained that I had been shorted the smaller 1\/8\" tip. We verified that. I asked what was he going to do about the spraying fluid since the gun was identical. I told him I would need to drive 20 minutes back and if it didn't work, then 20 minutes back again each way. By again, even the bottom could not be opened, especially for me at 65 years old. He just shrugged his shoulders. I said I just wanted my money back sine he couldn't supply me a working one. He told me there is now still a 20% restocking fee, even though it can't be restocked. That's $14 of my hard earned money. He would not overwrite that. So I spent over an hour calling corporate only to have them tell me they were going to continue this foolish practice of stealing my money. Then after refusing and asking for a full refund they said they could only give me a gift card for the 20% to go buy more garbage in the store and maybe have another restock fee. I told them if you go to Costco, Walmart, Amazon, etc, they have no questions asked returns, especially when the item is defective and have no alternative. What I want them to answer is \"ARE THEY REALLY GOING TO RESTOCK THIS ITEM EVEN THOUGH IT DON'T WORK? And then sell more of them to some other sucker. I will be returning to the store 1 more time to cancel my membership and get a refund on that. And hopefully not have a 20% restock on that return? I've have been shopping there since they first opened their first stores in California many many years ago. PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING THINGS FROM HARBOR FREIGHT UNTIL THEY CHANGE THEIR WAYS! I am going to do a charge back for the $14 they stole from me. I will not use that stupid $14 gift card. I'll let Citibank deal with that. Money is tight and I have to work many hours to get that money just for them to steal it. THEY DON'T DESERVE MY BUSINESS OR YOURS.\r\nI have included the receipts for you to see."

“Won't let cashiers scan in coupons for customers that may have forgotten their phone or don't have access to the internet super cheap and a bad policy in my opinion.”

“Harbor Freight sent me a Father’s Day coupon for 20% off any one item, but when I tried to use it to to buy a shop vac I was told the coupon can’t be used for that.”

“I purchased a Steam Spray Clean machine from the Sandy store. I could not remember if I had purchased a warranty. I called & talked to Devon (sandy) who could not have been more polite and patient with me. First of all I was shocked to see that you give customers up to 90 days for a refund or an exchange! But I had bought a warranty so either way I was covered. I drove to the store, walked in no questions asked, I was in shock at the seamlessly, painless process! I sat pondering this in the parking lot for 2 minutes. I spent more time pondering it then I did actually completing the process. In fact, I have been at the McDonald’s drive-through for more time then what this took. Between the customer service Devon provided and really everyone of the Sandy Store & the 90 day refund/exchanges combined with the replacement warranty program, you have earned a customer for life!! I will also recommend Harbor freight to everyone I know!”

“Bought a new motor electric from Council Bluffs store got it. Home opened it and realized it was way too big to fit where I needed it so I returned it the next day and didn’t even remove it from the box and was charged a 20% restocking fee, which I believe is completely ridiculous. How was a person supposed to know the size of the motor prior to opening it?”

“Don't buy predator power equipment from harbor freight .They sold me a defective power washer then charge me 200.00 to return it 20% restocking fee on a defective machine is unbelievable. 4400lb pressure washer didn't last 2 min before it shutoff and would not restart”

“I've just got a question? If a product is on clearance and the display is the only one left. Now why is it they don't want to sell the display? And maybe I'm always looking from a common sense point of view. I had a manger tell me he couldn't sell the display because more might come in. And I'm thinking " then when more comes in take one out of the box and put on display...! Is it that hard to do something so simple? Went to buy a gun 3 weeks ago in Morganton at Rural King. Drove 30minutes one way and they refused to sell me a pistol. Because on my NC license it has (St) for street! On my gun permit it had (Street) spelled out! There's a scientific reason why they do that. It's called space! No not up in the sky or between your ears. There's very little space on the license to print everything... And the manager said it was wrong and would not sell me a gun. No common sense inexcusable idiot! There every where and they are Losing Business! Mine... What ever become of *Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed? And I was starting to like shopping HF!”

“If You Buy Your Tools Anywhere Else, You're Throwing Your Money Away! No Hassle Return Policy 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed This quote from Harbor Freight is 100% a lie! The generator was defective, thus when I returned the generator and battery I was charged a RESTOCKING FEE for something that I hope was NOT RESTOCKED! Don't trust this company when you buy high dollar items and they arrive defective! They try and force you to take a replacement! There were two generators I considered, one from this company, the Predator 9000, and the Westinghouse 9500 unit, comparable in price. I chose the Predator, major mistake, it arrived with no negative battery cable, that did not bother me much, it was the LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE! When I called to see if I could get it replaced, I got a 3 hour run-a-round before finally being told that it came that way and I had to but the negative post! It was at that point I knew I didn't want to deal with this company and any product! Then I met the Sales Manager at the Conroe Harbor Freight Store, in Conroe, TX right off I-45, this person told me it's company policy to ALWAYS charge a 20% restocking fee defective or not! I showed him in writing where it says "May Charge", he said no, Harbor Freight ALWAYS charges the 20% restocking fee even on DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT! I recommend going somewhere else, it's safer!”

“I was in the Burleson store and saw a fan being sold as an open box. I wanted to plug it in to make sure it worked. I asked for the location of an electrical outlet and a lady told me where one was. Before I could get to it with the fan, another female employee told me that their policy is to not let people plug things in, because it could throw a breaker!!! First, if this fan throws a breaker, it’s defective and shouldn’t be sold! Two, if it throws a breaker, a tool store should be able to reset it! I left the store…never coming back!”

“I own 2 Predator generators and they are NO GOOD … I am telling everyone do not buy these generators .. nobody tries to help you fix the problem!!!!! The newest generator is an inverter .. only about 60 hours on the generator and it quits working … CANNOT GET ANY HELP FROM HARBOR FREIGHT TO GET THIS HORRIBLE GENERATOR FIXED !!!! DO NOT BUY FROM HARBOR FREIGHT — HORRIBLE COMPANY”

“I WILL NOT BE BUYING FROM HARBOR FREIGHT ANYMORE. I purchased about $100 worth of tool box organizers from Harbor Freight. Not knowing exactly what I needed, I also bought $100 worth of the same kind of organizers from Menards. Both stores are in Bloomington, IN. I finally finished organizing and found that I needed to return some of the items. These item were in the original packaging and I had my receipt. I tried returning these to Harbor Freight. After even getting the manager, they told me that they can't take them back because it was older than a 90 day purchase. I ask them, are you sure you want to do that, because I am in charge of buying tools for about 50 technicians, for the company I work for. I also told them that I wouldn't be buying any of those tools at Harbor Freight which is thousands of dollars. I am not sure why Harbor Freight even have store managers because the manager still just told me what he was programmed to say and it did matter to him. On another note, I took everything back to Menards and there were no questions asked, they gave me an in store credit, which I asked Harbor Freight to do and they refused. 5 stars for Menards. This review is also posted on BBB and I will continue to post on other social media sites.”

“they advertise a 20 % of first entire purchase when you sign up for their credit card, tell you that more info. is needed to get out of the discount. 2 weeks later they send the card but screw you out of the discount. furthermore when you decide to apply the cachiers are rude and dismissive because they have to do it while in line. did this to 2 of my friends. they also took away all the coupons they used to give so now you have to pay top price for inferior products. 0 stars from me.”

“I think it is unbelievable that as a policy they cannot transfer tools from ine store to the next! Every other retailer in the planet does so with ease! I guess when you are so successful, it orives there is no motivation to make some changes outside if tool products!”

“On Friday, July 9, 2022, I purchased the predator 9500 watt inverter generator to use as a home back up power source. On Saturday evening, while wiring a plug and service panel lockout on my house, the power went out. I hadn’t even got the generator unpacked. I unpacked the Predator, got it running, which was very easy to do, and made an emergency connection to my service panel. (Don’t do this if you are not experienced in electrical!). I made sure the service was disconnected from the utility company. I was able to run my central AC, fridge, two freezers, and satellite tv for five hours while we waited for power to be restored. No problem at all! This generator works great as an emergency backup, but is not designed to run everything in a house at once. Only use it to power necessary items. And get the big Predator with an inverter. Delicate electronics are more likely to be damaged if you use a generator without an inverter. Great price for this size inverter generator and purchased just in time! Worked great. It’s new, so I can’t comment on durability. Time will tell. I went back out after two weeks, hit “start” and it was running immediately! Looks like I made a good purchase. Went back and got another one for my sister’s house. Total cost for generator and electrical connections to house ran me about 20 percent of the price I was quoted for a stand by generator. I can crank up a generator and flip two switches when I need it for that kind of savings.”

“I purchased an off the shelf paint sprayer, never opened it, returned it a week later. They charged me a 10% restocking fee. The return girl said they informed me of this policy at purchase. They did not, I would not have bought it. She would not waive the fee. Very poor business.”

“I bought a Harbor Freight Titanium Unlimited 200 and on the second use, it feeds wire as soon as the unit comes on. This is not only unacceptable, it's dangerous and I could have been electrocuted. The wire hit me on the pant leg before I realized it was feeding out automatically. I bought this from another person and it was still new in the box. Of course, I can't take it back because it has been past 90 days. The local store left me on hold for over 24 minutes and then got testy when I spoke with them. All this company is concerned about is MONEY. When a person has a budget, they may can afford to buy one, but not a second one. I called corporate to get help solving the problem and it seems the issue causing the problem can't be fixed. They can't even get the parts I need to do a repair. I'm quite frustrated with them. Good luck if you have an issue. I would suggest not doing business with this company period.”
