“What an absolute disaster, I was only in the room for 15minutes and I was on the phone asking to be put somewhere else, it was absolutely disgusting, never stayed in such a dirty place, the location was lovely, and Tenby was a pleasure to see, but the accommodation well it left us speechless. Don’t whatever you do book this place. Dirty damp bathroom just 3ft from bed and kitchen had no door paper peeling off the wall with black mold behind it , build up of dirt in corners , I could go on, but you have to see it to understand the smell and dinge of the place, but the view from window is stunning, it’s just when you turn back to the room. A nightmare.”

“We recently stayed at Millstone Meadow - Old Sodbury, Gloucestershire. Very spacious 2-bed barn conversion situated in beautiful countryside with easy access to Bath and Bristol. Plenty of parking for 2 large vehicles, outdoor area for seating and dogs welcome. Internally, the conversion is very well appointed and in spotless condition. We look forward to staying again in the future. Jodie & Mark :D”

“We loved our stay at the Old Sunday School, a stunning property with lots of character with a lovely garden, in a peaceful quiet area. Even more beautiful than the photos and it was very clean and nicely equipped. Great base for exploring. Had a fab week end of July, would definitely recommend.”

“Holiday cottages.co.uk definitely have staff attitude issues . Stayed in the retreat swallow barn upper Clovelly. Having reported to the owner on 3 separate days about constant banging from accommodation above and requesting to.be moved this company basically said never had any complaints before and the people staying in accommodation above have stayed there five times previously.Told us to expect noise ..So basically it's our fault is what he was trying to say.. ... . Definitely one to avoid ...Reviews on property are good but you can't review it without an invite from holiday cottages.co.uk I wonder if they send invites to unhappy customers ???. ..As for holiday cottages .co.uk I would never use them again. ....”

“We stayed in Bay House in Dunoon the weekend of the 5th of December. The house and location were lovely. Great size house and plenty of space to eat and gather together. Everyone had a great time, we are a family, ages from 1year old to 62. Well laid out and stocked house. Would have been nice to have it decorated for Christmas as we don’t get a chance to all get together on the 25th. Would recommend and stay again.”

“We had the misfortune to be sent to an absolute dump, the situation was lovely, couldn’t have wished for better BUT the accommodation was so dirty, not even a wardrobe, had to keep clothes in suitcase. Dirty bathroom inches from the bed…. Oh I could go on , but I think you get the picture, we were at Sparta house Tenby .”

“Beautiful, spacious, clean and warm barn conversion. Fields to walk and lovely countryside to explore. Near Bideford, Appledore, Westward Ho!, sandy beaches and Exmoor. Perfect!”

“Fair view is a beautiful home. It was perfect for our family of 3 generations. The owners had thought of everything. Cot & high chair for the baby, bath toys for her & many more things. We really enjoyed the steam room & the hot tub. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good but had a lovely walk & the house was lovely & warm to come back too. We would love to go back in the summer. The enclosed garden was great for the little dogs. I would thoroughly recommend Fairview.”

“The Gate Lodge at Brynteg was very comfortable and quiet. The facilities in the lodge were top hole and the views and walks around were beautiful. So wonderful watching the sun go down in the hot tub which was perfectly private. Everything was to hand and the owner was so friendly and was there if required. Oven a little slow to warm up and bed was so high we needed an oxygen mask but it was so Comfortable. We would go back in a heartbeat, and apparently a new bathroom being fitted so looking forward to that. Nick n Sandy and Minnie miester.”

“We have never had to formally complain about, amongst other things, the cleanliness of other properties we have stayed in with this company, until now. Previous reviews of this property along with our supporting photographic evidence clearly show this property had been found to be systemically “unclean and tidy”. We asked for a significant and fair reparation. In setting out our complaint to holidaycottages.co.uk, who were acting as intermediaries to the owner(s), proved frustratingly protracted. Our direct questions were either not adequately addressed or remained unanswered by either the owner(s), cleaning contractor or holidaycottages.co.uk. We found the oven to be unclean; the microwave un-usable - the latter was found to have substantive rust on the inside - this was supported by photographic evidence. When queried, the cleaning contractor told holidaycottages.co.uk, “there was just a small amount of rust which does not affect the use, so it would not be replaced.” Amazingly, “The owner(s) gave the cleaners authority to replace the microwave but [the cleaning contractor] did not feel that this was necessary.” So why didn’t the owner(s) push for this to be done instead of being overruled? We found there was little empathy from the owner(s) and this showed in their response around settling our complaint in the form of making a significant and fair reparation, Including damage to my property - again, photographic evidence was forwarded onto the owner(s) however, this was never addressed and remained unanswered. The owner(s) however, did admit and accepted the cleanliness of the property had fallen below the standard expected but would not compensate. Despite holidaycottages.co.uk “offering us a company voucher for £50 to put towards a future booking at any of our properties.” We found this response disappointing and is disingenuous. We declined their gesture of a £50 company voucher as inappropriate.”

“Do not book with this company. We booked a holiday cottage through them and then found it was up for sale on Rightmove. We contacted them and they said all bookings would be honoured. We contacted estate agents who said bookings would be cancelled if the property sold. We contacted the company again and requested a refund on several occasions - out emails were ignored. Anyone who has booked this property are likely to find holiday cancelled at short notice and their holiday ruined. The company’s customer service is atrocious. Still waiting on our refund and will have to go through legal means to get it!”
