Arrived at Samphire and the place was not clean . Dirty bedding / pillows / carpet / kitchen / lounge / cushions . Got flea bites and checked out after 2 nights . Owner will only offer £400 refund despite paying £1264. Your customer complaints department would not help further. Absolutely dreadful and ruined our holiday and wasted our money . Owners should take responsibility and refund in full .

We have been attending Broadstairs Folk Festival for over 20 years with our extended family and have rented properties in both Ramsgate and Broadstairs. Our experiences have been very favourable until this year when we rented Wrotham House from 8-15 August. We got in early on Friday afternoon which was great but then had difficulties with the keys. Only one of our group could open the front door. We were a group of 6 adults, so one person had to stay in to let others in and out. We had to reschedule our plans which included entrance to bands we’d booked. The following day the owner had arranged for his maintenance guy to come and see if he could sort things. He had no luck with the keys either and so called in a locksmith. He adjusted the lock so the keys we’d been given worked and said the lock hadn’t been fitted properly. Again we had to reschedule our plans for Saturday, some again missing pre-booked venues. For the past 4 weeks we have tried to speak to someone about this situation. We are asking for compensation for our inconvenience. Please respond.

Trevidren Cottage, Penzance. The downstairs bedroom with 1 window had a musty odour; the bedding was damp; the window was dirty; the desk was dirty and sticky with marks from drinks glasses. The bed's head board was pushed right against the cold wall underneath the window. By moving the bed away from the wall there was thick dust with old spider webbing covering the skirting board with black mould growth in the board grooves. The floor underneath the bed was covered in thick dust. I had to buy wood cleaning material to remove the filth from floor and skirting board and to eliminate the mouldy smell. Bedroom with 2 windows: Thick dust with hair and a variety of debris (including a shopping receipt) underneath this bed. Downstairs and upstairs shower rooms had an unbearable smell emitting from the water drainages which I had to sanitize. Staircase and upstairs flooring: Horrendous creaking and a nightmare to walk on. Outside seating area with view to the harbour: Nothing like what the picture wants to advertise; it was unwelcoming, table and chairs were dirty. This seating area is situated next to a garage on a large communal parking yard for the neighbouring house. Private parking: Strictly inside the white line leading to the seating area and therefore there is no space for two cars as advertised. The private parking area was full of pine needles. The other seating area was even less inviting with same dirty plastic chairs (and cigarette smoke from a smoking neighbour).

Avoid this company! Strongly do not recommend!!! Review for Hydrangea Cottage (Booking Ref: 377883) We were extremely disappointed with our experience at Hydrangea Cottage and sadly had to leave immediately after arriving. The property was in an unacceptable condition: • Floors were visibly dirty • The sitting room had mould and clearly had not been cleaned • The fridge still contained expired milk, coffee, and biscuits, leaving a very strong smell • Dust and spiders were everywhere – my husband has a dust allergy, so it was not safe for us to stay This was not at all what was advertised on the website. The photos and description suggested a welcoming, well-kept property, but the reality was the opposite. After a long journey, the last thing we expected was to arrive to such poor standards. We booked this holiday in good faith and expected the property to be clean and ready. Instead, our holiday was disrupted before it even began, causing us a great deal of stress and disappointment. I cannot recommend this property or the company based on our experience. Julia W.

Avoid this company! I have already raised my dissatisfaction with the Complaints Team but unfortunately, my concerns have not been properly addressed. Instagram awareness seems working much faster than emails.Despite my attempts to follow up, my messages have been ignored by email and I have not received a clear or fair resolution and a full refund. Booking ref: 377883 Hydrangea Cottage I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the state of the holiday home I recently booked through your company for the first time… and last time. (4 August 2025) Unfortunately, upon arrival, we were extremely disappointed to find the property in an unacceptable condition. Specifically: • The floors were visibly dirty • The sitting room had mould and had clearly not been cleaned. • The fridge had not been emptied and there was a strong unpleasant smell. Including expired milk, coffee and biscuits. • Spiders everywhere, dust. My husband is allergic to dust and we were not able to stay at this property because of his medical condition. This lack of cleanliness was not only unhygienic, but it also completely undermined our holiday experience. We chose your company expecting a certain standard of accommodation, based on your website’s descriptions and photos, which were clearly not met. We left the property straight away. Given the inconvenience, discomfort, and the time we spent trying to deal with the situation I am requesting a full refund.I also urge you to investigate the cleaning and maintenance standards at this property to prevent future guests from experiencing the same. I do want to stress that when we arrived at Hydrangea Cottage, the last thing we expected was to be faced with an unclean property. We had travelled with our family to enjoy our holiday 5 hours — not to immediately begin chasing customer services or waiting for cleaners to return. The property should have been ready for us on arrival, as that is the standard we paid for and reasonably expected. Having to contact someone to ask for basic cleanliness is not part of what should be required from a guest. Unfortunately, this situation disrupted the start of our holiday and caused us unnecessary stress and disappointment. Kind regards, Julia Wilson

1 pumphouse cottage promised so much by its 5 star rating and customer feed back. In reality the lounge is a dark hole. It had an overpowering smell of dog and or fly spray. By the time we unloaded the car the lounge and kitchen had a unacceptable number of flies landing on all surfaces. Food prep was impossible. After a night of flies landing on our faces and over breakfast landing on our food we gave up and left. This is not a 5 star property the shower especially needs a major make over. Sorry to say Holiday cottages have still failed to contact us after emails and even a letter sent by us. A TOTALY RUINED HOLIDAY.

We stayed in cottage from the 12th July until 24th July 2025. We told Holiday Cottages make sure it is clean. We arrived and the cottage smelt of odour. We aired the place and it would not go away. We told holiday cottages of the odour. we had to keep airing the place We all came down with headaches, nausea, feeling lethargic Holiday cottages sent engineers round the day we were supposed to leave. We found out that the garage which was attached had a oil tank and the boiler , the fumes were coming through into the kitchen, downstairs lounge and downstairs bedroom. The engineers have reported this to holiday cottages The cottage orchard barn wighton norfolk was tired and nothing like pictures Holiday cottages said they would come back to us. They still have not come back to us Holiday cottages

On the list of facilities it stated Enclosed garden/patio, as we have two small/medium dogs we always book cottages with enclosed garden area to make our holiday stress free and relaxing. None of the houses had enclosed gardens despite both claiming to have. I have health issues both in our 70’s our son had a broken wrist and could not help. We had to put the dogs leads on each time they needed out day and night. Georgia, updated the lists and offered a part refund for the inconvenience. She was very understanding and helpful. Not mentioned on the website guests have to remove all their bags of rubbish, bottles, dog poo etc in their car and drive into Crieff to dispose of or if space there is a bin at the side of the road on way down the hill. This was a first for us and the cottage was £2000 plus for the week. The property was plagued with wasps and it was not safe to open any windows as felt unsafe or had to kill wasps daily. On our second last morning I was stung while sitting at the breakfast table. Painful and swollen, itchy for over a week. After discussing with a lawyer she suggested a 25% refund would be in order for misinformation, as we were mis-sold the holiday we expected. There was no details of the code to enter the gardens, our son contacted the owner, he also contacted the owner after I had been stung. The upstairs bedrooms were very hot and there were no fans. On the last morning I was wakened early to take the dogs out one at a time, in my dressing gown, the workers drove past in a mini tractor. Still half asleep I went to change over the dogs and did not close the outside door properly and both dogs escaped, one is an escape artiste anyway and took off. I have high blood pressure and Atrial Fibrillation so stress is not good for me. I had to get my son and husband out of bed to go find them. It was not the relaxing holiday we expected. The gardens were lovely. Very disappointing that Holiday Chapter/Holiday cottages deny the enclosed garden was on the Facilities list but I took a copy of it and had sent it to them. The owner of Drummond Castle also denied having an enclosed garden, she never read the web pages….Holiday cottages must take responsibility.

Booked Lugger Lodge, Swanage, for 7 nights commencing 25/7/25. Photos and descriptions on Holiday Cottages website really appealed to me. It was a special anniversary and the ‘romantic hideaway’, tastefully furnished with nautical decoration sounded just what I wanted for a gift for my husband. The ‘cute dining table for a romantic dinner’ pursued me to take a bottle of good champagne with us. Reality was, a mean, cramped garage like space with a small bathroom extension. There was no dining table, just a small battered console against a wall with instructions on how to dismantle and reconstruct the console to make a dining table to fit the limited space. Small sofa with worn cushions and a small wall mounted TV completed the tasteful furniture. A makeshift wardrobe of coat hangers in a narrow recess was covered by a curtain held with a heavy rod, the whole fixture fell onto me when I moved the curtain. We left 27:7 at 9 am. We would have left within hours but last minute accommodation is difficult to find at peak holiday times. We went to the Travelodge in Poole. Our long awaited holiday ruined. The holiday company reminded me that they cannot resolve such problems, they are only Agents and I must deal with the Owner who has no email and doesn’t answer his phone.

I would give zero stars if I could for… I would give zero stars if I could for human empathy My husband (34) who has Motor Neurone disease found out that he now has to have an operation to insert a feeding tube-PEG the same dates as a booking we made with this company through Air B&B , we asked if we could move the booking to end of September as we understood that there wasn’t any refundable options , hoping the host had a heart and would do it discretionary given our circumstances, but no … pretty awful really, so now on top of our horrendous situation we are now £1500 out of pocket , which now stops us from booking any more breaks to make memories whilst we can because this company is heartless . Do not book through this company Date of experience: 01 August 2025

No problem up to the stage where holiday cottages took our money . On arrival there were no instructions about any of the equipment. We rang the management company who were very prompt in getting the television working.I then sat down on one of the balcony chairs and the rusty tubular steel broke, narrowly missing my thigh. On inspection all the chairs were badly rusted and dangerous. The whole place , though clean, seemed neglected. The owners ,who were abroad do not seem to care about the property. I do not think it is the fault of the management company. There was no welcome pack and no visitors book. I think holiday cottages need to inspect the properties more carefully. I was asked for feedback about the cottage and I informed them about all of the above, but I received no reply. It seems that once the company has your money, that is the end of their involvement, so why ask for feedback ?

A very unsatisfactory stay at Loch Lubnaig cottage. We raised a complaint, but because the property is managed by owners, holiday cottages are not compensating and owners don't want to know. I would say don't go to this property if you like to have a shower. First impressions were excellent, until we wanted a shower. Upstairs shower was not functional, trickle of water in the bath if that and the shower downstairs ran cold every few seconds and not much force. This was all in spite of us not using any other taps while someone was trying to have a shower. There were six of us so one can only imagine the frustration and waste of time. My son took video of the trickle in bath, but he is having issues with accessing his phone. I'll add the video once sorted.

The cottage was very very dirty when we arrived on the Friday night. Other than clean sheets on the beds it appeared nothing had been cleaned since it was last used. Floors were filthy and hadn't been hoovered, hair every where, dirty toilet, rotten food in the sink, dirty surfaces, cobwebs - I could easily go on listing things. After complaining to the owner the following morning we were told it would be cleaned that day. When we returned it looked exactly the same. So we ended up cleaning the whole place ourselves. There were very few cleaning products or cloths. The owner eventually arrived on Saturday eve to say sorry. He said he'd bring some cleaning stuff round the next day but didn't even bother to do that. The whole place needs some proper effort and more things to make it homely - it's very basic. Other than crockery there was very little in the kitchen. Other than bedside tables there's no where to put anything in the main bedroom. The garden - front and back needs some attention. There are nettles and brambles across the path as you go up to the property and the wooden steps are wobbling. They didn't leave the WiFi code for us. The drive is on a corner of busy road and quite dangerous to pull out on to. I did contact Holiday Cottages about this weeks ago but they haven't replied at all. So, I think it's only right that I leave this review of our experience.
