Due to unforseen family events we have had to cancel our holiday which was booked for the end of August. We have been told the owner wishes to keep all of the deposit £800 just because they can. Find it very hard to believe that the Lookout - Sandown, Isle of Wight will struggle to rent at the peak time in August. Particularly as we have given three months notice. This is practically theft.

The cottage we booked in Wales was in a lovely rural area with a good pub a 5 minute walk away. It was clean well equipped and comfortable. Ideally located for exploring the area around Abergavenny.

Holiday cottages advertise accommodation which isn't available, then make it difficult and very time consuming to get a refund. Awful experience and complete waste of time.

Huge stress thanks to website chaos Booked a cottage for me, my mum, my partner and my five year old. I'm running a charity walk. I filtered for three adults and one child (2-17 years). Cottage popped up and I booked it. Fab. Then two days prior to booking Holiday Cottages call me to tell me that they needed to check my daughter is over 12, which she's not. 'I put it in the form', I said. There is a second page on the listing, they said, that even though you enter 2-17 years old you have to be over 12. I'm now waiting to see if they will accept the booking. I'm screwed if not. No accountability taken from Holiday Cottages. I literally don't know what I'm going to do.

The company’s description says it all. Excellent house for large party of 10 plus 1 dog. Well equipped large kitchen diner and plenty of comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms. We all had a wonderful time.

No 98 New Romney was a fantastic property. Large enclosed garden, very safe for our dogs. Great location straight across the road to the sand dunes and beach. Overall very comfortable, peaceful and quiet.

White Cloud cottage was lovely. A super little property for our short stay. The hosts were so lovely and incredibly accommodating- thank you. We will definitely return.

Wide choice of cottages in the South Devon area we wanted to stay in . The cottage we stayed in was accurately described and the information given after our booking was made was most helpful .

Easy to search and book accommodation. The cottage (barn conversion) that we stayed in exceeded our expectations. The best welcome pack we have ever had, comfy sofas and bed. Huge field for our two dogs to run about in, we were lucky as the cottage now only allows 1 dog but we had booked before this changed. Walks from the door, pub 15minute walk away, absolutely fab farm shop over the road, selling fruit, veg and some fridge stuff. Owners were on hand to help but not intrusive. Would definitely return if ever in the area again. We didn't want to leave to be honest.

Lovely venue, made very welcome. Clean and well equipped accommodation with a lovely view across the estuary. Welcome pack of sausage, eggs and bacon - absolutely delicious. Attentive owners, very helpful. Now in my list of return visits. Excellent

It exceeded our expectations in that it was much better presented than the website details indicated. It was the ideal accommodation and location for my close family celebration of my wife’s 70th birthday. Even the weather was nice and we had a great time. I’d certainly recommend this property to anyone wanting comfortable high quality living for up to ten people.

The cottage near Slimbridge was not as we expected, to some extent. It was quaint as described but did have its good and bad points. The garden looked as though it could be a good space, but it was very messy and the gardener was no where to be seen all week. Next door by the parking space, there was a few bags of garden rubbish and it was generally a messy area. The interior of the house was very quirky and we thought some of the space was well laid out. The rug under the table was threadbare and had seen better days. In the kitchen we had to clean some utensils and pots before we could use them. The 2 small frying pans were dirty and one still had old oil in it, also a couple of pans were rusty. Obviously the previous occupants didn’t bother to clean the pans, and the cleaning team didn’t do their job either. They were cleaner when we left. The whole place was could have done with a good dust. The bed was a little soft , didn’t spoil our sleep. On the good side the heating and water temperature was easily controlled. The Smart TV was good and easy to use. We used the washer and the Dishwasher both easy to use. A Gas hob was a godsend I can’t stand using electric hobs. The rainfall shower was great. On the whole we enjoyed our stay and easy to use as a base for travelling around. Just a few niggly points spoilt it.

Our stay in Porthtowan was lovely. Beachside was extremely clean with an amazing welcome pack, the best I have experienced in decades of winter cottage holidays. Very friendly owners and perfectly positioned for pub, beach and fabulous coastline walks.

Very clean, well equipped property, but rather small for 4 adults and 2 children. One bathroom was not enough and downstairs toilet cramped. House was cold because of February weather and gaps in windows and under doors. Very close to beach.

Straightforward site with no gliches like B**king. Com ! Like the easy to spot icons with info saying where pets are NOT allowed...made it easier for us to book a place that was pet free...have had bad past experiences in cottages where pets are welcome !
