“A very unsatisfactory stay at Loch Lubnaig cottage. We raised a complaint, but because the property is managed by owners, holiday cottages are not compensating and owners don't want to know. I would say don't go to this property if you like to have a shower. First impressions were excellent, until we wanted a shower. Upstairs shower was not functional, trickle of water in the bath if that and the shower downstairs ran cold every few seconds and not much force. This was all in spite of us not using any other taps while someone was trying to have a shower. There were six of us so one can only imagine the frustration and waste of time. My son took video of the trickle in bath, but he is having issues with accessing his phone. I'll add the video once sorted.”

“We’ve been staying at 1 Devon Beach Court in Woolacombe for over 10 years, previously booking through Marsdens. This year, our booking was transferred to Holiday Cottages. While we had our usual lovely time, there were some property issues — including a broken key safe, loose shower fitting, and a broken toilet seat. As always, we followed check-out instructions carefully: left on time, property clean and tidy, beds stripped, bins emptied. A few days after our stay, our £250 deposit was returned — but the very next day, we received an unexpected email stating we were banned from booking again due to the “very poor state” the property was left in. Despite contacting the company and writing twice to their complaints department, we’ve had no response. No evidence of any wrongdoing has been provided. The lack of communication and customer service has been deeply disappointing, especially after many years of being a respectful repeat guest. We would advise future customers to be cautious when booking through Holiday Cottages or Marsdens, particularly in how issues are handled. This experience has left us feeling unfairly treated and unheard.”

“The cottage was very very dirty when we arrived on the Friday night. Other than clean sheets on the beds it appeared nothing had been cleaned since it was last used. Floors were filthy and hadn't been hoovered, hair every where, dirty toilet, rotten food in the sink, dirty surfaces, cobwebs - I could easily go on listing things. After complaining to the owner the following morning we were told it would be cleaned that day. When we returned it looked exactly the same. So we ended up cleaning the whole place ourselves. There were very few cleaning products or cloths. The owner eventually arrived on Saturday eve to say sorry. He said he'd bring some cleaning stuff round the next day but didn't even bother to do that. The whole place needs some proper effort and more things to make it homely - it's very basic. Other than crockery there was very little in the kitchen. Other than bedside tables there's no where to put anything in the main bedroom. The garden - front and back needs some attention. There are nettles and brambles across the path as you go up to the property and the wooden steps are wobbling. They didn't leave the WiFi code for us. The drive is on a corner of busy road and quite dangerous to pull out on to. I did contact Holiday Cottages about this weeks ago but they haven't replied at all. So, I think it's only right that I leave this review of our experience.”

“This is our second stay in The Mowhay Everything as expected, clean and tidy. Comfortable and relaxing. It's on a working farm but we were never disturbed by noise. Beautiful surroundings Take your time driving down the long driveway, I put My car in neutral from the first bend and just slowly rolled down, it's a little bumpy but just take it easy. Love the heated pool Was looking forward to the afternoon tea that welcomed us last year but alas...we had some very nice biscuits to greet us instead! Would definitely stay here again”

“Very musty smell, cobwebs everywhere, dust all up the stairs treads, windows stuck fast including the fire escape in bedroom (husband forcefully managed to loosen this). Very dark, had to have lights on continuously. This was due to trees becoming too big and overgrown. All cooking equipment in cupboards dirty, had to wash before being able to use them. Outside chairs and tables were dirty and very uninviting. A visitors book would be good to give recommendations for food, beaches etc. On the plus side we slept well, a very comfortable bed. Sorry to have to be so negative, but on this occasion very disappointing.”

“Absolutely perfect cottage beautifully decorated and in the perfect location! Jen our host was just lovely and had everything organised to the tiniest of details! We will be back and absolutely recommend Jen and her beautiful cottage to anyone!”

“The palms was lovely and clean with all the amenities required. Julie and Mike were really welcoming and were contactable throughout our stay if we needed! We visited the palms a couple of days after our wedding. Mike and Julie had left us flowers, prosecco and a card as well as a mr and mrs sign which was lovely! Will definitely book again!”

“First of all , You made booking one of the properties very quick and easy. We chose the apartment as it was in the area we wanted to be and had everything necessary for a three day visit. We were warm and comfortable and were happy with the car parking too which is a designated space. From there it's just a few steps to the building , the lift and the first floor apartment. At no time did we hear any noise from the remaining apartments. Altogether, a well positioned , comfortable holiday home.”

“The problems I encountered were primarily around the bathrooms. The property was advertised as accessible. The two small wetrooms had no rails for a disabled person to hold onto and no shower wheelchair or stool. I couldnt shower throughout my stay. It wouldnt take much to make these nice little bathrooms much more accessible. (THis would increase her market) The item provided after I spoke to the owner was for over the toilet and too high to be any use to me. No rails around toilet either. The sofas needed replacing, in my view. I enjoyed the farm setting and the cows and the farmer was very helpful.”

“The ship was in a great location, overlooking the river and good for exploring the area. It could definitely do with a bit of an update, the kitchen was not very well equipped in terms of utensils, there was no bbq and it needs better cleaning, however this did not detract from our enjoyment of the family break.”
