“This was the most perfect location. The property was immaculate and in such and amazing location. From booking to checking in and checking out, it could not have been easier. We are already looking to try and stay again here next year! Incredible place!”

“Contact from the company is adequate, booking information, payment reminders etc but the photos of the property are not as it appears in real life. It isn’t as light as the photos depicted ( it is actually very dim/ dark inside ) nor is the outside space as open and large as shown in the photos.”

“Very clean and well equipped cottage. It's in a very good location for beautiful and interesting walks and good pubs and cafes in walking distance. Further afield are pretty towns and places of historical interest. Perfect for a week away.”

“We have used Holiday cottages for many years to book holidays in and around Devon with no issues but this year we had a few problems at the property we stayed in. Unfortunately there were rats living in the ceilings and it was very loud every night which kept us awake. There were other small issues that we were originally willing to overlook but the rats were unacceptable. There were a lot of emails going back and forth between myself, Holiday Cottages, the house keeper and the owner of the property which took up my entire weeks holiday and I didn't get a chance to relax at all. I also went down to their office in Braunton as I felt this was the only way to clearly express my concerns with the property. The person I spoke to was helpful and understanding and she took down many notes but as the week went on, I was yet again drowning in emails with nothing actually being resolved! I'm not at all happy with how Holiday Cottages dealt with the problems we experienced. They should have stepped in and sorted out the issues on my behalf but this wasn't the case and everytime Holiday Cottages got in touch with me, it was a different person with a different idea on how I should be resolving the problems myself. On the last day of our holiday, we were told someone from the company would be coming round to the holiday property but they never showed up which wasted even more of our holiday! :(”

“Cottage was dirty. Cobwebs and mould. We had to clean in places before we went to bed. Damp on the windows, mould on curtains. We were very disappointed”

“The flat was very well presented, clean and was well equipped. The position is fantastic with a wonderful view of the harbour and the bay. We could have spent hours just sitting in the bay window watching all the activity there. It is so conveniently situated to get to the beaches and also the town. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.”

“I sent my comments to you the day after I returned from Beadnell for you to pass to the owner for action. Sadly I didn’t keep a copy and heard nothing back from you. Here goes again from memory. The positives are the sofas were comfortable, pretty curtains and good soft furnishings, the house was clean and the heating excellent. Many downsides - The garden is in a poor state - see photo. The outdoor chairs are almost impossible to sit in as on a sloping “lawn” with holes in it. The whole place felt unloved and needs some TLC. Bare walls in the lounge made it feel stark. No lamps or small side tables. Overhead lighting does not dim properly (unsuitable bulbs?) Drawers stuffed with unwanted items (paint, tapes, old papers etc), kitchen cupboards containing out of date leftover items. Upstairs cupboards cluttered and difficult to ascertain what was junk and what could be used. Poor quality fixtures (no towel rail in downstairs loo). No decent mirrors or lighting. Upstairs 9” round mirror only suitable to see yourself in if you’re over 5’8”! Paint peeling off bathroom ceiling and walls. Floor damaged, by water? Kitchen tap poorly fitted. Only half the toaster works. Fridge door needs adjusting. Main bedroom windows cracked on lower frames and latches fallen off. Towels thin and felt cheap. Compared to no 5 Smugglers Cove, no 3 is a poor relation. You get what you pay for.”
