“New lands was dirty we had to clean the kitchen before we could use it. There was must around the floors and windows. The mop left to clean the floors was outside in a dirty bucket and was green so not sure when it was last used. No leaflets to let you know what is in the area. Appreciate we were advised there wasn’t a welcome pack but surely that doesn’t include basic information. It didn’t feel like a holiday home at all”

“Oldfield house was spotlessly clean on arrival, very spacious and well equipped. Easy to park on the road close by as we were a group we had more than one car. The heating was easy to regulate, plentiful hot water for eight of us. Nice quiet area, shame the pub behind had closed a couple of weeks before we got there, but only a five minute walk into Windemere. Would recommend.”

“There was an issue when I first arrived at Conifer Cottage this year but once I let Holiday Cottages know, it was dealt with immediately in a very satisfactory fashion. The staff are always welcoming and friendly.”

“The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Only negative thing is the heating is on a set timer. Cottage was too cold to be comfortable during the day. Heating came on evening time 7-11 pm only. Password protected. Would advise to Take a small heater.”

“Bow Cottage was well placed for visiting Notth Norfolk and its wonderful bird reserves. A roomy comfortable cottage and pleasant to relax in after days out. We did have some issues with the central heating which never seemed to come on in the morning. The double bedroom was lovely but the mattress was very firm - obviously a personal taste.”

“Easy to use website and a lot of properties to choose from. Booking is straight forward and communication good from Holiday Cottages, they keep you up to date with any information and send reminders for payment and arrival details. Have used this company many times.”

“What a pleasant surprise. A holiday break in a beautifully furnished and decorated cottage on the edge of the New Forest. Apart from the two sofas, everything else, including the utensils, looked brand new. It was nice and warm accommodation and the bed large and comfortable. The owner and his wife were very nice and helpful. We had a fantastic week and would seriously consider visiting again. Has created a beautiful memory”

“Lovely clean, well equipped upside down house in a perfect location. Close to the beach and coastal walks. Not far from shops, bars etc either. We fell in love with this property and will definitely book again.”

“Cleanest holiday cottage I have stayed in. Bonus having a parking space but really tricky get in and out would suit a smaller car we had great difficulty getting our bags out of the rear seats without bashing the doors and dislocating your hip.”

“Our cottage was fantastic but I have to say that Holiday Cottages is a superb company too. My mum-in-law fell ill two days before we were due to start our break last autumn. By the next day it was obvious she was dying, so we cancelled our holiday. We hadn’t taken out insurance because we were in the UK but HC was ever so understanding and immediately said we could rebook for the spring. 10/10!”

“Cosy Cottage was a piece of English village magic. The electric fire made for lovely evenings in we have stayed at 5 holiday cottages and Cosy Cottages was the best of them all, the garden was lovely and welcoming.”

“Booking process is pretty straightforward. The low score reflects a disappointing “after sales” issue and response. I left behind a key pouch, very small and light. When I asked Holiday Cottages if they could arrange to have it returned to me they demanded a payment of £20 ! When I queried this they said it was highlighted in their terms and conditions and that was the charge and couldn’t be changed. Sometimes common sense should be applied as opposed to what is cast in stone in a company’s terms and conditions. This is even more applicable when you take into account, as a long-standing customer of Holiday Cottages, the thousands of pounds I have spent on cottage rental over the years. Realistically the pouch could have been returned in the post for less than £5! As a result I informed the company to give the pouch to charity and will look to book future cottages with one of their competitors!!”
